Flight services at the Mumbai airport were severely impacted on Thursday with many flights getting delayed and cancelled due to heavy rain in Mumbai. Several areas have experienced flooding and two out of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai are overflowing. Sion, Chembur, and Andheri areas of the city are severely affected due to waterlogging.

IndiGo Airlines, in a statement, said that the heavy rain is "causing periodic delays in flight schedules". It also requested passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Air India has either cancelled or diverted several flights, offering full refunds, or a one-time complimentary rescheduling for today's bookings.

SpiceJet has also issued a warning for the passengers, saying that the departures and arrivals may be affected due to the heavy rains in the city.

The Andheri subway was also shut for vehicular movement due to waterlogging.

In Maharashtra's Pune, where IMD issued a 'red alert', four deaths were reported in rain-related incidents. Schools were also declared shut.
