Weather Update: IMD issues orange alert in Mumbai, check forecast for other states

Monsoon rains and cyclonic circulations are bringing moderate to heavy rainfall across various regions in India, affecting daily life and activities.

The monsoon at mean sea level continues to travel through Sri Ganganagar, Hisar, Agra, Prayagraj, Daltonganj, Ranchi, Digha, and then moves southeastward to the northeast Bay of Bengal.

Several regions in India are experiencing cyclonic circulations. One is over northeast Assam and its surrounding areas. Another cyclonic circulation is affecting interior Odisha and its adjoining areas, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. Similarly, there is a cyclonic circulation over north Madhya Maharashtra and neighboring regions, ranging between 3.1 and 4.5 km above mean sea level. Additionally, Punjab is experiencing a cyclonic circulation, and a trough extends from the south Gujarat coast to the north Kerala coast. A shear zone roughly along latitude 18° North at 5.8 km above mean sea level is also persisting.

Weather Activity in the Last 24 Hours:
In the past 24 hours, various parts of India have experienced significant weather activity. Moderate to heavy rain occurred over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and the Konkan and Goa regions. Light to moderate rain with some heavy spells was observed in coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, heavy rain fell in isolated areas of Rajasthan and south Gujarat.

Northeast India, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep received light to moderate rainfall. Light rain was also reported over the western Himalayas, Saurashtra and Kutch, interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Tamil Nadu.

Weather Activity in the Next 24 Hours:
In the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Konkan and Goa, and coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rain with a few heavy spells may occur in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, south Gujarat, Vidarbha, east Rajasthan, Konkan and Goa, parts of Telangana, and South Chhattisgarh. Parts of Bihar and Jharkhand might also experience this weather.

Light to moderate rain is predicted for Lakshadweep, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Saurashtra and Kutch, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Marathwada. Light rain is possible in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra and Kutch, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

These weather patterns suggest a continued influence of the monsoon and cyclonic circulations across various regions, bringing significant rainfall and affecting daily life and activities in these areas.
