Weather update: IMD predicts heavy rain in MP, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand; check latest forecast

Residents of Delhi-NCR gained a small amount of reprieve from the oppressively hot weather when the city received wet spells. According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is predicted over the following four days in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha.

Light to moderate showers with isolated heavy downpours are predicted for southern Uttar Pradesh today and for Uttarakhand from tomorrow through Saturday, according to the weather service. 

Till Saturday (September 16), Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha are projected to have isolated heavy rainfall, light to moderate widespread showers along with thunderstorms, and lightning. While West Madhya Pradesh is anticipated to see severe weather from Thursday through Saturday, similar conditions are likely in Chhattisgarh from today through Friday. 

From today until Friday, there is a good chance that Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning, with isolated heavy rainfall activity. It is quite likely that there will be isolated, extremely heavy rain in Odisha today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow (September 14).

In South India, there will likely be isolated heavy downpours today across Kerala and the Tamil Nadu ghat regions, as well as over the coastal Andhra Pradesh today, tomorrow, and Telangana until Saturday.

West India: On Saturday, isolated heavy rainfall is highly likely over the Konkan and Goa, as well as the ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. On Friday and Saturday, there will likely be light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning across much of the region. 

Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are anticipated to have light to moderate scattered rainfall with thunderstorms through tomorrow, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura through September 14.
