Yogi Adityanath acts as traffic cop, slaps challan on violator

Launching Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Kanpur, rated as the most polluted city in the world, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acted as a traffic cop slapping a challan and fine on a violator.

Launching the ITMS on the World Environment Day from Kanpur, the most polluted city in the world, the Chief Minister said that it was the first step towards making the city pollution-free. 

“Traffic congestion and frequent jams are major sources of pollution. Emission of gases from stranded vehicles not only pollute the environment but also contribute to wastage of petroleum products. The ITMS will be the first step in taking out Kanpur’s name from the list of most polluted city,” said the Chief Minister.

Within minutes of launching the automated traffic control system, the Chief Minister served a challan on a biker named Shahid for jumping the red light at Bara Crossing in Kanpur.

The ITMS automatically challaned the biker the moment he jumped the red light. 

“Technology can catch you anywhere. It is your duty to follow rules to regulate traffic and control growing pollution in the city,” he appealed to Kanpurites.

Later, the Chief Minister participated in ‘Ganga Haritama’ program and planted saplings to make the banks of the Holy river greener and pollution free.

“Kanpur is an industrial town and despite our best efforts, Ganga remained polluted in the city. We are making in the process of making plans to shift industries, particularly tanneries out of the city as per Supreme Court and Green Tribunal orders. The government alone can’t achieve this, people will have to come forward the make Ganga clean and save the environment,” he said.
