The IPL 2020 tournament is at the half-way stage and following the end of the double-headers on Sunday, every team will have played seven matches. It is at this point in time that the IPL will open the mid-season transfer windows and this could give a chance for teams to utitlise the services of players who have not had a chance with their current franchises. Here are five big players who might be transferred to other franchises this year. The IPL 2020 mid-season transfer window will see both capped and uncapped players being traded in this window. Thus, the likes of Chris Gayle could find a new franchise along with Ajinkya Rahane and Imran Tahir. The eligibility critera for the playes in this time will be that they should not have played more than games in the current edition of the tournament. Here is a list of the potential big names that could be transferred.

1. Chris Gayle KXIP IPL 2020

He has scored over 10,000 runs in the Twenty20 format. He has the most centuries and his batting in this format is Bradmanesque. He has the most centuries and the best average and strike-rate in the world. Yet, it is shocking that Universe Boss Chris Gayle has not played a single game for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020. The lack of proper utilisation is hurting the team who are currently in the bottom.

Where can Chris Gayle go? He might be traded to Chennai Super Kings as they need a solid opener at the top but that might throw the team composition in disarray. With the likes of Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders having a stable batting line-up as well as Royal Challengers Bangalore, his previous franchise, it might be tough for Gayle to get a game. The only team that is struggling for an opener is Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni might be tempted to get the rabbit out of the hat. (Image credit: Twitter)

2. Imran Tahir mid-season transfer

Imran Tahir was the Purple Cap holder for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019 and IPL 2018. Yet, he does not get a game in IPL 2020 in conditions which are tailor-made for him. It is a surprise why MS Dhoni has not taken Imran Tahir in the CSK line-up and made him a consistent starter.

Where can Imran Tahir go? Kolkata Knight Riders may have Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav but one is inconsistent while the other is lacking experience. Tahir's inclusion in the KKR line-up can go a long way in sorting out their spin bowling issues and they could be the complete team. (Image credit: Twitter)

3. Ajinkya Rahane Delhi Capitals

Ajinkya Rahane was traded from Rajasthan Royals to Delhi Capitals but such has been the form of the Delhi Capitals side that he has failed to get a place in the playing 11 in six games so far. Ajinkya Rahane's experience and solidity in the middle order is something which teams might be banking on in the business end of the tournament.

Where can Ajinkya Rahane go? Looking at the woes of the Rajasthan Royals team, he can very well shift back to the middle order in the Rajasthan Royals side as they lack experience and depth. With the top order misfiring most of the times, it is important that Royals get someone experienced to shore up the middle order. (Image credit: Twitter)

4. Chris Lynn Mumbai Indians

Chris Lynn has had immense success as an opener in Indian Premier League and in T20 cricket. His briliance with the Brisbane Heat and his partnership with Sunil Narine in the Kolkata Knight Riders side was instrumental in the side's success for the last couple of years. However, due to the powerful line-up of the Mumbai Indians, he has not been able to get a spot in the side.

Where can Chris Lynn go? Chennai Super Kings seem to be struggling for a solid opening combination. If Lynn can go to Chennai Super Kings, their opening will be strengthened and they can get off to fast starts in the powerplay. (Image credit: Twitter)

5. Mitchell Santner CSK

Mitchell Santner has been part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise ever since 2018 and has limited success for the three-time champions. However, in the CPL 2020, he had decent success but he has not been able to breakthrough in the side for this edition of the IPL.

Where can Mitchell Santner go? The left-arm spinner could either go to Kolkata Knight Riders, who are struggling for a decent spinner or he could actually try out his luck with the Rajasthan Royals as they too lack a decent spinning option with the exception of Shreyas Gopal.
