Have no intention of changing my seat, but will do what my party says: MLA Diya Kumari

BJP high command believes that party has suffered losses due to the manner in which temples were demolished in Jaipur and also how the Rajput community was dealt with in certain cases. What is your perspective?

As far as the Rajput community is concerned, I would say that the community is close to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Rajputs have been voting only for the BJP. Also, whatever the problems were, they have been resolved now. The Rajput community has been are known for its loyalty. I do not think that they will ever leave the BJP and go somewhere else. As far as the issue of temples is concerned, that issue is almost over now. The temples have now been rebuilt and restored.

Is it not true that you too had dispute with the government? There was discussion about this in media, back then.

Yes, it is true that there were a couple of cases. But, I think they were mostly due to communication gap. I do not say that there were any disputes between us, but I would definitely say that there was communication gap between us and the government officials. All these cases are old and I am satisfied now.

Despite majority, there has been dissatisfaction among party workers and public representatives. What are the reasons for this in your opinion?

I do not think there has been any such major reasons. Sometimes, the Opposition, due to lack of issues tries to spread such rumours. The Opposition did not have any issue as the people’s work was being done and there were no allegations of corruption etc against the government, so they started spreading such things. Whatever be the condition, the organisation has done a lot of work on the subject and I believe that the environment is satisfactory.

Is it true that some MLAs want to change their seats and even the party wants to reduce anti-incumbency by doing so?

I do not want to comment on this topic. This is to be seen by the party high command. I believe that they will take a decision which will be in the interest of the party.

There are talks that you want to change your seat?

No, I have no intention of changing my Assembly seat, these are just speculations. I have a great attachment for Sawai Madhopur. But the final decision is to be taken by the party, I will contest from where ever my party tells me to.

Is it true that some workers and supporters want to see you in the Lok Sabha this time? Are there any chances that you might contest Lok Sabha elections?

No, there is no such thing. I have already said that whatever the party will decide for me, I will accept it. The party has to decide on which election and from where I should contest.

If you look back at your five-year term as MLA, how satisfied are you? How much work was done and what remains to be done? 

When I went to contest for the Sawai Madhopur Assembly seat, the area was backward. Many problems were going on there since long, without any hope for an improvement. I told the people there that all my efforts would be focused towards the development of the area. Five years ago, I did not make any promises because I was not a politician, that was my first election. Yes, I accept that despite all efforts, issues like Hamir Bridge are still pending.

You have worked for issues like Beti Bachao, Women Empowerment and Child Education, which was the most satisfying work out of these?

My first priority was that every one should get benefit of the schemes run by the government, so that they can become self sufficient. Apart from this, I have tried to make the women self dependent through my own foundation. I clearly believe that under any circumstances, the needy should not face any problem in getting education.
