    Amber Fort, which was declared as Iconic Tourist Destination in this year’s union budget, will not be getting separate fund for its development for the scheme of iconic tourist destination will be implemented under the ongoing ‘Swadesh Darshan Scheme’ of the ministry of tourism.

    Union government had identified 10 tourist destinations for development based on the criteria of footfall, regional distribution, potential for development and ease of implementation. Jaipur’s Amber fort is the only place in the state which features in this list. The other popular destinations which share the same space with Amber are Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, Colva beach of Goa, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh to name a few.

    Officials of ministry of tourism informed that development of the iconic tourist destinations will be done under ‘Swadesh Darshan’ scheme and there is no separate allocation of funds for this project.

    State had already been sanctioned Rs 93.90 crore in 2016-17 financial year and work in various parts of the state under this scheme is already underway at various places to develop various tourism destinations.

    Amber is already the most popular destination in the city. During the month of December only last year it received more than 200,000 tourists. Moreover, it’s a part of every bucket list of foreign dignitaries when they visit Jaipur while it’s also a preferred destination for movie makers.

    During the union budget this year, it was announced to develop ten prominent tourist sites into Iconic Tourism destinations by following a holistic approach involving infrastructure and skill development, development of technology, attracting private investment, branding and marketing.

    INSPECTION On Mon

    The inspection of Egyptian Mummy at Albert Hall Museum will be conducted on Monday. A team of experts from Egypt will be arriving in Jaipur for the same. The team had last come for inspection in 2011 and before that in 1999.
