Rajasthan: Homeward bound - Festive rush shows signs of easing

With the festival week starting, the pressure of passengers going to home town has reduced a bit . 

Most of the passengers going on long distance have left and now on Dhanteras people going on short distances will also leave.

The railway platform and the bus stands started seeing the crowd of passengers since early morning. 

During the evening time on Monday, the rush for catching buses and trains was seen at bus depots and Jaipur junction, Gandhi Nagar station and Durgapura railway station.

Railways has  this time introduced Unreserved Mobile Ticketing for passengers. This has been done with a view to promoting three Cs - cashless transactions (Digital payment), contact less ticketing (no need to physically visit the point of sale) and customer convenience and experience.

Officials informed that it’s a big leap as booking of unreserved tickets on all non-suburban sections across all zonal railways has been made available from November 1 to enable seamless booking of unreserved tickets all over Indian Railways to obviate the need for passengers to wait in queues for purchasing the tickets. The facility of booking unreserved tickets, including season tickets and also platform tickets is available through the ‘UTSONMOBILE’ app available for Android, IOS and Windows phones.

However a large number of people were still seen in queues buying general ticket for going to places like Dausa Bandikui, Niwai and near by places on Monday.

Tight security was seen at Jaipur junction on Monday too. Due to the festival time as well as election season security agencies are not taking any chances and are taking care for the safe journey of passengers.

Meanwhile, there is a huge demand of tickets on Delhi route and Agra route and roadways has started 100 additional buses for ferrying the passengers on the festive occasion.

However the rush of passengers seem to be uncontrollable and people are also buying tickets by Lok Parivahan buses and the ones left are going to their hometowns by private buses. 

Due to large number of passengers coming at the Sindhi bus stand and going out led to traffic jam like situation in front of the bus stand.

• The Pink City is known for its decoration and Diwali lighting and every year, the markets of the Walled City and the outskirts of Jaipur are decorated and wear a sheet of lights. 
• Lakhs of foreign and domestic tourists visit the city to see the lightings on Diwali. In Walled City on Diwali, there is a tradition of decorating markets based on themes and this year too, the markets have been decorated on different themes. 
• The Diwali lighting formally start on Monday in markets of Walled City. While MI Road has been decorated on the traditional heritage theme. Chandpole Bazaar is decorated on the theme of Devlok. 
• Four entry gates have been built on the traditional architectural style of Jaipur at Panch Batti crossings in MI Road. Apart from this, the heritage entry gates have also been built at the Government Hostel and Ajmeri Gate.
