Rajasthan: Met warns of marginal increase in temperature in next 24 hrs

Temperatures continue to soar above the 40-degree mark in most parts of Rajasthan and heatwave has gripped parts of the state. Since the last few days, the weather of entire state is almost dry. Winds are also blowing from northwest and west direction. These dry and hot winds have increased the temperatures over the state. Thus, many parts are under the grip of heatwave conditions now. Bundi remained the hottest place in the country for the third consecutive day where maximum temperature was recorded at 48 degrees Celsius followed by Sawai Madhopur at 47.2 degrees Celsius.

After observing the hottest day with soaring 45.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, it was the warmest night of the season for Jaipur people as minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius, which was 7 degrees above normal level. Though, due to scattered cloud in patches over the sky since morning, mercury dropped marginally and the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.8 degrees Celsius. As per MeT, city may observe marginal increase in temperature during next 24 hours.

In other parts of the state including Churu and Shriganganagar the maximum temperature was recorded above 45 degrees Celsius while in Bikaner, Kota, Barmer and Jaisalmer it continued to be above 44 degrees Celsius. Ajmer, Pilani, Udaipur and Jodhpur observed the maximum temperature above 43 degrees Celsius. Local MeT office has issued a warning that dust storm and heatwave conditions are likely to occur at isolated places in the state.
