The competition ended bizarrely as the contestant who was initially crowned as Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 winner (Pushpika De Silva) was unceremoniously dethroned by the previous titleholder.

The Mrs Sri Lanka beauty pageant descended into chaos at the weekend when former titleholder Caroline Jurie declared that the winner Pushpika De Silva was ineligible because she was divorced, and forcibly removed her crown.

Pushpika De Silva was injured by Caroline Jurie during the grand finale when the latter forcibly removed her crown. Pushpika claimed via her Facebook account that she is recovering from head injuries after being hospitalised.
4.Pushpika De Silva declares 'not a divorced woman' after the chaotic events
Pushpika took to her Facebook page and shared a long note regarding the whole incident. She wrote in Sinhalese which roughly translates as "As I write this, I responsibly say that I am not a divorced woman. If I am divorced, I challenge them to submit my divorce papers. So, even though that symbolic crown has been snatched from my head, I would like to inform you that I have already taken the necessary legal action for the injustice and insult that has taken place."
Pushpika concluded by writing, "A real queen is not a woman who snatches another woman's crown, but a woman who secretly sets the other woman's crown!!!"
