South Africa innings started on a very sedate note. Skipper Bavuma scored only 1 run from his first 12 balls. Quinton de Kock went early but Aiden Markram joining the skipper kept scoring at a good rate. Bavuma, on the other hand, failed to keep the scoreboard moving and eventually lost his wicket at the score of 31 off 39 balls. Aiden Markram scored a useful 48 off 35 balls but departed in the 15th over. After that Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller contributed useful
The Afghan bowlers were right on the money from the word go. The spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi were brilliant, and the former was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs. The lack of pace in the pitch was also used quite cleverly by the Afghanistan seamers with their variations and in the end, Afghanistan have put a decent bowling performance here.
