6.5 : A Russell to U Khawaja, OUCH! Khawaja is not comfortable against the short balls here. It is a bumper and on the body of Khawaja. He looks to pull but gets hit on the hand and the ball rolls towards the off side.
6.6 : A Russell to U Khawaja, OUT! WHAT A CATCH! We saw de Kock taking a blinder yesterday, today Shai Hope grabs one. Khawaja's uncomfortable stay out there comes to an end. He looks to break free by stepping out and thrashing the full ball through covers. The ball takes the outside edge and goes between first slip and the keeper. DRINKS! West Indies are on top at the moment. They have managed to pick up 4 wickets in Powerplay 1. Australia, on the other hand, are on the verge of recovery and would want Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis to bat longer. Will West Indies pick more wickets after the break?

The ball goes very closely past the leg stump and they cross for a run as the short fine leg fielder cuts it off.
27.2 : A Nurse to A Carey, FOUR! Well stroked! Nurse delivers a full ball around off, from 'round the wicket, Carey brings out the reverse sweep without waiting any time and nails it behind point for a boundary.
27.3 : A Nurse to A Carey, Takes this one on the full and pushes it down to long on for one.
27.4 : A Nurse to S Smith, Fine stop at the cover region! Too full and outside off, Smith strokes it firmly and Russell inside the circle makes a superb stop diving to his right.

27.6 : A Nurse to A Carey, Loopy and full on off, Carey drives it on the bounce and past the cover fielder for another single in this over. 8 from Nurse's first.

29.5 : A Nurse to A Carey, Very full on middle, this is hit down to long on for one.
29.6 : A Nurse to S Smith, A quick single to end the 30th! On off, Smith taps it on the off side and takes one.
DRINKS! West Indies are still on top at the moment but Australia are fighting back. Steve Smith and Alex Carey have already stitched a 67-run stand and would look to maximize it. 20 overs are remaining and West Indies would try to wrap up Australia as quickly as possible.
Andre Russell is back into the attack.
30.1 : A Russell to S Smith, Goes full first up on middle, Smith hits it back towards the bowler. Russell gets down quickly and stops it.
30.2 : A Russell to S Smith, Back of a length on off, defended.
30.3 : A Russell to S Smith, This time he gets a single as he pushes it to mid on.
30.4 : A Russell to A Carey, OUT! Russell breaks the 68-run partnership. Excellent bowling change by Jason Holder. A wicket almost immediately after the Drinks break and we have seen that happen many times in the past. Not sure though if Carey needed to play at that. It is on a length and outside off, moves away further with the angle. Carey hangs his bat out without any purpose. The ball kisses the outside edge and goes into the mitts of the keeper. A good innings by Carey comes to an end. He wi
Nathan Coulter-Nile is the new batsman in.
30.5 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, OHHH! Brave brave leave! That starts from outside off and comes back in. Coutler-Nile shoulders arms to it. The ball just about kisses the off pole.
30.6 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, In the air... safe! Nathan has started off in a very unconvincing manner! Russell hurries him up with a short ball. NCN goes for the pull but gets a top edge towards the leg side. There are two fielders going for it, the keeper and mid-wicket but they don't get to it. Top over for the Windies, a wicket and two runs from it.
Bowling change. Jason Holder going for the kill here. He has unleashed Oshane Thomas back into the attack.

31.5 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, Top, top bowling! Follows the bouncer with a very full length ball, he also gets it to tail back in. Coulter-Nile looks to jam it out but gets an inside edge onto the pads. The ball rolls towards the keeper and a run is taken.
31.6 : O Thomas to S Smith, OUCH! Well played in the end by Smith. Back of a length on off, it rises after pitching. Smith goes back and looks to defend but the ball hits him on the glove. The good thing though, is that he takes a hand off the handle so the ball dies down onto the ground. A very testing over from Oshane.
32.1 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Good length and on off, Nathan guides it towards point.
32.2 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Well fielded but can't stop the run! Saves three though does the skipper. Full and on off, Coulter-Nile strokes it towards mid off where Holder dives to his left and stops it. 150 up for Australia. They would love to add 100 more.
32.3 : A Russell to S Smith, Very full and on middle, Smith strokes it to mid on.
32.4 : A Russell to S Smith, Goes short now and Smith ducks under it.
Our viewpoint - Just a thought. Should Alex Carey be batting a bit higher up the order? We feel that he is batting too low. Ideally, he should be sandwiched between Maxwell and Stoinis so that there is someone down the order to make use of his 'dirty' work. Many times, we have seen Carey come in and do the repair job but after that, there is no one to make use of the platform. Like today. West Indies are into the Aussie bowlers. Had Stoinis or Maxwell come in now, 250-270 could still have been a
32.5 : A Russell to S Smith, Bangs it short again, Smith hops and keeps it out.
32.6 : A Russell to S Smith, Three now! Nicely played! Slightly fuller and width on offer, Smith strokes it through covers. It is not hit well enough to get to the ropes but three taken.
33.1 : O Thomas to S Smith, Leading edge but a run! This is angled into the batter, Smith looks to work it on the leg side but closes the face a touch early. It goes off the leading edge and down to third man for one.
33.2 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, FOUR! Nathan Coulter-Nile has managed to squeeze that for a boundary! Full and on middle, NCN jams it straight down the ground. The outfield is such that the ball has raced away.
33.3 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, Slightly short! Not short enough to make the batter uncomfortable. NCN pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for two.
33.4 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, WIDE! Down the leg side and it has been wided.
O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, On the fuller side on off, Nathan strokes it but straight to mid off.
33.5 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, FOUR! In the air... but just wide! Pooran probably misjudged it. Down the leg side and it is full. NCN flicks it in the air towards deep backward square leg. Pooran initially runs in first but then realizes he has to run to his right. He moves to that direction but till then, it is too late as the ball is out of reach and it races to the fence.
33.6 : O Thomas to N Coulter-Nile, A single to end a good over for Australia. 13 from it. Short and on the body, Nathan pulls it towards fine leg for one.

34.2 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Slower one and it is short and outside off, Coulter-Nile waited and then looks to cut it hard but fails to put bat on ball. It goes on the bounce to the keeper who stops it with his pads.
34.3 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, FOUR! Top edge and it goes too fine! Short and on the body, Nathan looks to pull but is in no control. He still goes for the pull but it hits the top edge and bounces once before the fine leg fence.
34.4 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, WIDE! Goes short again but this one bounces a lot.
A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Another wide! Short and this one is even more higher than the last one.
A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Lands in no man's land! The slower ball and it is fuller in length, Coulter-Nile swings but does not get it off the middle. He still hits it well enough to get it over mid-wicket for a couple.
34.5 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Well bowled but well bowled! Maybe he was ready for it as Russell can't bowl any more short balls. A yorker on middle, NCN jams it out.
34.6 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Almost drags it on! Length and outside off, Coulter-Nile looks to guide it down to third man but the ball is too close to play that shot. An inside edge is produced which hits the pads and rolls on the off side. Smith calls for a run and they take it. 22 from the last two overs. So despite the wickets falling, Australia are managing to score at a good rate.

36.3 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Howzzat? The answer to that question is not out! Russell angles this into theleg pole. Nathan looks to play it with a straight bat but misses to get hit on the pads. A huge shout but the umpire shakes his head. Going down leg I feel.
36.4 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, FOUR! Not in control but gets the desired result. Short and on the body, Coutler-Nile looks to pull but does not get it off the middle. It is in the gap and hence, a boundary.

38.4 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, SIX! The pick up shot and it goes all the way! Consecutive fifty-run stands for Australia. Another very important one but they would hope for this one to continue. Full and on the pads, NCN whips it and it carries over the square leg fence. 200 up for Australia.
38.5 : A Russell to N Coulter-Nile, Once again on the pads, Nathan looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads.
Russell bails out as he comes to bowl. A long followthrough for him and as he is walking back, he looks in some discomfort. He though seems to be fine to bowl the last ball.

44.2 : O Thomas to S Smith, OUT! HO, HO, HO! What a catch that is! Probably the catch of the tournament! Cottrell, you beauty! Something special was needed to break this stand and take Smith's wicket and Sheldon has provided it. Smith can't believe it. He might have thought, he has hit that for a biggie. What a recovery this is from Australia! WOW! They needed something special when they were reeling at 79 for 5 and the lower middle order just provided them that. Their 102-run stand has given Australia a total which they will be very, very pleased with. Yes, they will be disappointed with not facing their hole quota of overs but they will back themselves to defend this target.
The innings started off for Australia in a very bad fashion as none of Khawaja, Finch, Maxwell or Warner crossed 20. It seemed like the West Indian bowlers would once again bundle their opposition out for a very low total. That was not to be though, as the fightback then began. Smith played the anchoring role, his partnership first with Stoinis steadying the ship a little. The latter fell at the wrong time though but Carey and SS went on to add another 68-run stand. West Indies though were still
The West Indies bowling was fiery to begin with! They used the same tactics they used against Pakistan, bowl short and fast. It did work but they probably overdid it. Also, they weren't as accurate as they were in their last game as they bowled too many extras. Still though on a ground which is know to be a paradise for the batters, they will be happy. Except for Nurse everybody had a wicket at least. Brathwaite was the one with the most wickets as he took a three-fer but Russell was probably th
Man of the moment, Nathan Coulter-Nile, is having a chat with Michael Slater. NCN says that he enjoyed his innings. Assesses the wicket by saying that one needed to take his time and then play his shots. Reckons that the short ball came on pretty quickly off the deck. Admits that he was targetting the shorter side while going big. Hopes that the score is big enough but definitely feels that Australia have a chance at least. Praises his skipper Smith for sticking like a glue in the middle.
Now then, 289 is the target! The game is evenly poised at the moment. The West Indies batters do have it in them to chase this down but the Australian pace attack is a threatening one. They too are capable of exploiting the extra bounce on the surface. An exciting chase awaits us.
0.0 : Welcome back, folks! The chase is about to begin and the two West Indian openers have come out in the middle. Chris Gayle, a giant figure, has been in amazing form in 2019 and he has a new partner in Evin Lewis today. Both are known for their destructive batting and Australia will have to be at their best with the ball. There will be some early assistance for their bowlers and let's wait and watch how the likes of Starc, Coulter-Nile and Cummins fare. The former to kick start with the first new
0.1 : M Starc to C Gayle, FIVE WIDES! West Indies open their account in the exact manner Australia did. With extras. 1.3 : Pat Cummins to E Lewis, Goes very full on this occasion, on middle and Evin digs it out in the direction of mid on.
1.4 : Pat Cummins to E Lewis, OUT! Edged and taken! Cummins draws first blood! He persists with a good line here. Lands it on a length and outside off, going away with the angle, Lewis with a stationary footwork pushes inside the line and gets a thick outside edge behind to second slip. Smith reacts quickly to his right and snaps it safely. That's the line you should be bowling on this pitch. Pat has wasted no time in finding it, unlike Starc and has reaped the rewards almost immediately.
Hope, who is not 'Shai' of scoring runs these days is the next batsman in.
1.5 : Pat Cummins to S Hope, A gift for the new batsman but Shai fails to put it away. The line is very straight, Hope works it off his pads but finds square leg.

Gayle is taken aback by the extra bounce there. Tries fending it off but it takes his gloves and flies over the leaping keeper for a boundary. Lucky, very lucky for the big man!
Caught behind! This is a big moment. But Chris Gayle is going nowhere. He takes the review immediately. Starc laughs on his way past Gayle who shakes his head and indicates that he did not nick it! And for sure! Because the ball has missed the outside edge and hit the off stump! Gayle will bat on...
2.5 : M Starc to C Gayle, NOT OUT! There is noise, definitely there is some noise. What happened then? Oh dear, it's not from the bat, it's from the ball brushing the off pole. The bails didn't come off. A length ball close to off, Gayle tries to heave it over the leg side but misses. The ball goes behind and Carey appeals after collecting the ball. Gayle takes the referral and gets the decision overturned. Not for the first time we have seen those bails not coming off. Believe me, Starc bowled t
2.6 : M Starc to C Gayle, Wide! This one is too wide outside off, Chris shoulders arms.
Second review in this over! Gayle is given out lbw here. The Jamaican opts for the DRS immediately. Looks to be missing leg here. Let's find out.
M Starc to C Gayle, MISSING LEG! By a fair margin also. Boos around the stadium. The technology has saved Gayle here. Drama aplenty here at the Trent Bridge. Starc spears in a low full toss, angling down, Gayle is beaten for sheer pace there, 148 kph it's bowled at, and he is rapped low on the pads. They appeal and the finger goes up. It's all about the two Chris at the moment. Once again Chris Gayle has been adjudged lbw by Chris Gaffaney. Has missed the bat. Will it miss leg? Will it be a hat-trick for Gaffaney? Last two times he gave Gayle out, it was overturned. No hat-trick. This is clipping leg. The Gayle show is over.
4.5 : M Starc to C Gayle, OUT! It's clipping leg! Umpire's call stays. Chris Gaffaney is right this time but this decision could have gone either way. Gayle returns and the crowd is not too happy. They wanted the big man to stay and light up the stadium with some big shots. This one is a slower delivery. Although it's 138 kph, it's still 14 kph slower than the previous one. Starc dishes it on a on fuller length around middle and it skids back in with the angle. Gayle tries his best to put bat on
Another left-hander walks in. It is Nicholas Pooran. He can hit the ball too but West Indies don't need pinch-hitters. They need a partnership.

6.2 : M Starc to N Pooran, The line is straight on this occasion, at 144 kph, Pooran helps it wide of mid on and picks up a brace.
6.3 : M Starc to N Pooran, FOUR! A bit lucky for the batsman. Starc eyes a yorker, spears it in too as well at 150 kph but it lands just a little ahead of the blockhole. Pooran flicks it off the inside half and it speeds past the right side of the square leg fielder for a boundary.

Credit to Australia for getting their 10th straight win. They showed character and nerves of steel when the going got tough and probably slight inexperience from the West Indies helped them. But Australia will not mind, as they get their second victory of this World Cup.
While we go ga-ga over Australia, West Indies will be gutted with themselves. They had the match in control, only to throw it away at crucial moments.
