Commentary :
0.0 : Normally, we would have described this clash as 2 vs 3, as far as these teams' positions in the points table go. But nothing is normal now, there is a lot at stake. In fact, considering how far these teams have come and how they have performed in this edition, everything is at stake. And with the remaining berth in the top 2 at stake and the perk it carries, of an additional chance in the road to finals, these two teams are going to come hard at each other. On that note, we welcome you to our co
Pitch Report - Danny Morrison describes that the conditions are gorgeous. Sun is out and the wind is breezing well. JP Duminy is there as well. He says that this game is the 4th game on this surface. Danny ends by saying that there is a good, even covering of grass.
First look at Delhi. 4 losses on the trot, they would be thanking the heavens for the heap of wins they garnered earlier. That is how they are in contention for the other spot in top 2 despite the string of losses. It is a complete fall, in both batting and bowling, for Iyer's titans. And the only thing that can lift them up again is a complete showing, which becomes a must here.
Bangalore's fortunes are not vastly different. Apart from the fact that they too need a win here, if they want to seal the other spot in the top 2, Bangalore are in a 3-match losing streak. Their departments too have not coherently performed. One time it has been their batting which clicked and the bowling in the other. With everything at stake now, Kohli's men need to put up a well-rounded show. Stay tuned for the toss and teams updates for this epic clash...
Toss - The two captains, Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli, are out in the middle. The match referee spins the coin in the air. It lands in Delhi's favour. THEY WILL BOWL!
Virat Kohli, Bangalore's captain, says that on the changes, Dube replaces Mann and Shahbaz Ahmed replaces Saini. On the preparation, Virat says that one should try and win every game. States that he would have loved to bowl first as well. States that in the earlier situations too, it was about winning the game and moving ahead. Adds honestly that if one does not play well, there is no point in relying on how others play and depending on those results in your favour.
Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi skipper, says that dew is going to play a massive role. Feels that having the total in front of them is always a good option. With the run rate being a factor, it will be good for them. Tells that Rahane, Axar and Sams are the three changes for them.
Delhi (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Daniel Sams (IN FOR SHIMRON HETMYER), Marcus Stoinis, Ajinkya Rahane (IN FOR HARSHAL PATEL), Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel (IN FOR PRAVIN DUBEY), Anrich Nortje.
Bangalore (Playing XI) - Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe (WK), Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Shivam Dube (IN FOR GURKEERAT SINGH MANN), Shahbaz Ahmed (IN FOR NAVDEEP SAINI), Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.
We are all set to begin then as the umpires step out to the middle. The Delhi players, after completing their quick little huddle, take their positions on the field. Following them are Bangalore's openers, Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Philippe. Daniel Sams to begin with the ball for Delhi. LET'S PLAY...
0.1 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Sams is right on the money. Just outside off on a good length, Philippe pushes it towards the cover fielder.
0.2 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Philippe and Bangalore are up and running with a single. Slightly full and around off, Philippe pushes it towards mid off and calls for a run. Gets it.
0.3 : Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, Padikkal is off the mark as well. A shortish ball around off, Devdutt tucks it through square leg and gets to the other end.
0.4 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, A couple now. Good stop at the fence by Nortje. Short ball around middle, Philippe pulls it wide of the deep square leg fielder. Nortje runs to his right and does well to get to the ball quickly and throw it to the keeper.
0.5 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Short and around off, Philippe looks to pull but the ball takes the inner half and goes straight. It hits the stumps at the other end but Padikkal with the correct technique had the bat in the correct hand. So in spite of Sams getting hands on the ball, no damage done.
0.6 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Dot to end the over. Good length and just outside off, Philippe pushes it towards the off side. Decent first over.
1.1 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, Good stop from Rabada. A flatter ball around middle, Padikkal clips it towards square leg. A single as Rabada makes a diving stop inside the circle.
0.6 : Who will bowl from the other end? Spin is on, as Ravichandran Ashwin to bowl from the other end.
1.2 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Josh Philippe, Full and around off, driven straight to the cover fielder.
1.3 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Josh Philippe, Flatter and just outside off, Philippe back away and slaps it little wide of the cover-point fielder. A slight fumble from Rahane there and they take a single.
1.4 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, One more run! Tossed up and around off, Padikkal plays it with soft hands towards covers and gets to the other end.
1.5 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Josh Philippe, A slight fumble again and it costs them a run. Flatter and around off, Philippe punches it towards extra cover where Axar misfields and gives away an easy single.
1.6 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, A couple now! Shortish and around off, Padikkal clips it through mid-wicket and the call is for two straightaway. It is to the right of Axar who is at deep mid-wicket. He gets a couple.
2.1 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, WIDE! Full and wide outside off, Philippe tries to reach out and drive but fails to connect. Wide anyway as this was way outside off.
Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Drives it well does Philippe but finds the cover fielder.
2.2 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, FOUR! First one of the match. Short and outside off, not too pacy to trouble the batsman. Philippe fetches it from there and sends it wide of the mid on fielder for a boundary.
2.3 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Short and outside off again, Philippe looks to slam it through the off side but he is going little too hard at the ball. Mistimes it straight to mid off.
2.4 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, Another fine stroke but straight to the fielder. Fullish and outside off, Philippe once again hits it hard but finds the cover fielder.
2.5 : Daniel Sams to Josh Philippe, A single. Full and around middle, it is pushed towards mid on for one.
2.6 : Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, Dot to end the over. Another tidy one from Sams. Length ball around off, Padikkal plays it towards short third man for nothing. Just a boundary in the first 3 overs.
Anrich Nortje is on now.
3.1 : Anrich Nortje to Josh Philippe, Good length and around off, Philippe mistimes it uppishly but safely, towards mid on. A single taken.
3.2 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR! First for Padikkal. Fine stroke from Padikkal. A length ball just outside off, Padikkal leans into the stroke and lifts it over extra cover for a boundary.
3.3 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, Play and a miss! Good response from Nortje. Just behind good length and around off, a little bit of away movement. Padikkal tries to force it on the off side but misses.
Is that a boundary? Looks so, to the naked eye. Seems that Rabada is touching the ropes as he looks to flick the ball away from the boundary. Multiple replays roll in. Nope, a clean save it is!
3.4 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, Full and outside off, Padikkal once again lifts it over extra cover. This time the timing is not as perfect as the 2nd ball of the over. It races towards the fence but Rabada gives it a chase and makes a good stop with a dive. The umpires want to confirm if it is a clean stop though. Multiple replays and then the third umpire calls it a clean stop. Three taken in the end. A single saved by Rabada.
3.5 : Anrich Nortje to Josh Philippe, Another mistimed stroke from Philippe. He once again tries to pull the short delivery but is early in his shot. The ball goes towards mid on off the inner half.
3.6 : Anrich Nortje to Josh Philippe, A single to end the over. A risky one. Shortish and outside off, Philippe pushes it towards cover-point and calls for a single. Stoinis there fires the throw at the striker's end but misses. 9 off Nortje's first.
Kagiso Rabada is into the attack now.
4.1 : Will we see the skipper, Virat Kohli, come out to bat now? Yes, it is him.
4.2 : Kagiso Rabada to Devdutt Padikkal, Good length and around off, Padikkal keeps it out.
4.1 : Kagiso Rabada to Josh Philippe, OUT! TAKEN! Rabada gets the breakthrough on the very first ball. His first in the Powerplay in this edition of the tournament. Shaw runs towards that side and takes the catch comfortably.
4.3 : Kagiso Rabada to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR! Padikkal continues to lift the ball over extra cover. Anything full and outside off, it is getting dismissed over cover. This one meets the same fate.

5.5 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR! Deft from Padikkal. A pacy delivery. Little short and outside off, Padikkal comes on the front foot and taps it through third man. It beats the man and races away to the fence. Fine stroke.
5.6 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, Sharp bouncer! You hit me four, I will bang it short. That's what Nortje does. A good one too. It is just around off. Padikkal sways away. Another 9-run over from Nortje.

0.0 : Ravichandran Ashwin comes back to bowl.
6.2 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR! SHOT! This is superb batting. Short and just outside off, Padikkal goes back and slashes it between short third man and backward point. It once again races away to the fence.
6.3 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, Flat and just outside off, pushed towards point.

9.4 : Axar Patel to Devdutt Padikkal, Short and on off, punched down to long on for a single.
9.5 : Axar Patel to Virat Kohli, Put down! Oh dear, Nortje! What have you done? Kohli jumps out of the crease and tries to clear the long on fence but fails to time it. Nortje settles for the catch but loses his footing and puts down a straightforward chance. How costly will this be for Delhi? Only time will tell.
9.6 : Axar Patel to Devdutt Padikkal, Dot to end the over. Terrific one from Axar. Should've had a wicket to his name in this over but well it wasn't meant to be. The last ball is tossed up and around off, Padikkal looks to push but the ball goes uppishly off the outer half.
0.0 : DRINKS! Looks like it is a very slow surface as the 50 for Bangalore itself came up pretty late. They are 56/1 at the end of 9 overs and need to up their scoring rate really fast. The NRR factor is another very important reason to do so. Kohli and Padikkal are going well for now but slowly need to up the ante. Most importantly, they need to ensure that this break does not hamper the momentum as has happened many times in this season.
10.1 : Kagiso Rabada to Virat Kohli, Play and a miss! Length ball around off, Kohli comes down the track and looks to loft it over covers but misses.
10.2 : Kagiso Rabada to Virat Kohli, FOUR! This time he goes aerial and what a lovely shot it is. Full and outside off, Virat comes down the track and lofts it over covers for a boundary.

11.2 : Axar Patel to Devdutt Padikkal, Flatter ball on leg, Padikkal goes to the off side and laps it over the keeper's head. Does not time it as well as he would have liked. He though gets three as the ball drops short of the long leg fence.

12.3 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Virat Kohli, OUT! CAUGHT! Ashwin gets the big fish. A very good take near the fence by Stoinis. The ball was travelling there. Tossed up and on middle, Ashwin dances down the track and tries to clear the longest part of the boundary, towards deep mid-wicket. He doesn't get the timing right. It goes towards Stoinis. He pouches the ball over his head superbly. Made it look really easy. Nortje must be a relieved man right now.
Will we see 'Alien' AB de Villiers now? Yep, it is him in the middle.
12.4 : Ravichandran Ashwin to AB de Villiers, Tossed up and around off, driven back to the bowler.
12.5 : Ravichandran Ashwin to AB de Villiers, Floated around off, AB knocks it to mid on and gets off the mark with a single.
12.6 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Devdutt Padikkal, Tosses it on off, the ball reluctantly makes its way to the batsman. Padikkal had to wait and then manages to defend it to the off side. Just 2 runs and the big wicket of Kohli in that over.
13.1 : Axar Patel to AB de Villiers, A huge appeal for LBW but not given. Tossed up on middle, de Villiers gets down to sweep but misses to get hit on the pads. Axar appeals for a LBW but not given. Delhi do not take the review because Pant from behind says it was going down leg.

Ashwin is done with his 4 overs. Daniel Sams returns. 2-0-10-0 from him so far.
14.1 : Daniel Sams to AB de Villiers, Angles a fuller ball on middle and leg from around the wicket, bunted down to long on for a single.
14.2 : Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, Lovely slower ball from Daniel. It was on off. Devdutt looked to slam that on the leg side but adjusts very late, it comes off the toe end and goes to square leg and Bangalore take one.
14.3 : Daniel Sams to AB de Villiers, Full on middle and leg, flicked to deep square leg for an easy couple.
14.4 : Daniel Sams to AB de Villiers, Good length ball on the stumps, de Villiers comes down the track and strokes it to cover-point. A single.
14.5 : Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, WIDE! Goes for the yorker but bowls it well outside off, past the tramline. Padikkal lets it be.
Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, WIDE! Very full but past the tramline outside off again, this time Padikkal throws his bat at it but misses completely.
Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, FOUR! He has got that away. Slower ball on off, Sams did not get the length he hoped for. Devdutt swivels a hint and pulls it away to the deep backward square leg for a boundary.
14.6 : Daniel Sams to Devdutt Padikkal, In the air.... but safe! Padikkal gets to a 50 with a couple as well. Well done, young man. Full and outside off, Devdutt looks to go big on the off side but gets it off the toe end. Luckily for him it falls safe ahead of deep point. He takes a couple.
Anrich Nortje is back to bowl. 2-0-18-0 for him.
15.1 : Anrich Nortje to AB de Villiers, In the air... safe! Great effort from Iyer though. Full and outside off, de Villiers looks to lift it over covers but ends up hitting it high in the air off the toe end. Iyer backtracks and tries to catch but fails to get hands to it. Two taken.
0.0 : DRINKS! Padikkal gets to a well made half ton and is looking to launch into orbit now. De Villiers is out in the middle as well, with his eyes set. With 5 overs to go, it is time for Bangalore to step on the gas big time now. No more conservative approaches, they should be going the whole hog now.
15.2 : Anrich Nortje to AB de Villiers, SIX! Hits the good part of the bat and finds a maximum, by just. Good length ball around off, ABD slams it over the bowler's head, towards the long off fence. It hits the advertising triangle on the full but also looks to have touched the ground. But the umpires are having a look, take it upstairs. A couple of replays and it has been signalled as a maximum.
0.0 : Is that a six? Looks very touch and go from here as the ball seems to have touched the advertising triangle in conjunction with the ground. No, six signalled!
15.3 : Anrich Nortje to AB de Villiers, Full and just outside off, driven over the bowler's head for one.
15.4 : Anrich Nortje to Devdutt Padikkal, OUT! TIMBER! 50 and out for Padikkal. A fine knock from him. Full, fast and straight from Nortje. Padikkal makes room and tries to slam it through the off side but misses. The ball thuds on the stumps behind. Padikkal had to go after the ball and in that attempt he perishes.

15.4 : Chris Morris comes to the middle now.
15.6 : Anrich Nortje to Chris Morris, OUT! Caught behind! Nortje gets another one. Second in the over. Terrific stuff from Nortje. Back of a length ball outside off, Morris makes room and looks to slam it over the off side but gets an outside edge that goes to the keeper. A simple chance for Pant behind the wickets. End of a double-wicket over from Nortje.
16.1 : Kagiso Rabada to AB de Villiers, Full and around off, stroked past the bowler, to long on for a single.

17.4 : Daniel Sams to Shivam Dube, SIX! BANG! Dube connects this time and connects it well. A full toss on middle, Dube hammers it to the longest part of the ground and it sails over the fence at deep mid-wicket. Fine connection.
17.5 : Daniel Sams to Shivam Dube, Two now! Full and wide outside off, Dube drills it wide of the long off fielder. Before Rahane can get to the ball, two taken.
17.6 : Daniel Sams to Shivam Dube, FOUR! What a finish to the 18th over. 17 runs off it. Another slower one from Sams. Little short too. Dube reads it well this time. Waits for it and then powers it towards the deep mid-wicket fence.
18.1 : Kagiso Rabada to AB de Villiers, SIX! BOOM! De Villiers starts the penultimate over with a biggie! Massive six. A full toss on middle, a gift for de Villiers. He hammers it way over the deep mid-wicket fence for a massive biggie. You don't see Rabada missing his mark often, he does it this time and de Villies it not going to miss out. Terrific shot.

18.3 : Kagiso Rabada to Shivam Dube, Swing and a miss! Good length and outside off, Dube looks to hammer it on the leg side but gets beaten.

18.6 : Kagiso Rabada to Shivam Dube, OUT! CAUGHT! Ajinkya Rahane takes a comfortable catch. Shivam Dube admonishes himself. Good length ball on off, it was not that short to pull. But Dube goes for the pull. He gets it off the toe end of the bat and it goes straight to Ajinkya at deep mid-wicket.
19.1 : Anrich Nortje to AB de Villiers, Nicely bowled! A slower fuller ball outside off, de Villiers is early in his shot to miss out.
18.6 : Who will be the new man in? It is Washington Sundar. Anrich Nortje to bowl the final over of the innings. 3-0-27-2 from him so far.
19.1 : Is that out? Is de Villiers short of his crease? Yes, an easy decision for the third umpire.
19.2 : Isuru Udana comes out to bat now.
19.4 : Who will walk out to bat now? Shahbaz Ahmed.
19.6 : Bangalore had a pretty sedate start with the bat. Philippe was not middling them at all and eventually perished early. Kohli got a start but could not get going. Padikkal got to a good half ton but was slow in getting so, primarily because of the nature of the pitch, one wonders. After Padikkal, AB de Villiers and Shivam Dube mustered all they could and have managed to push Bangalore to a shade over 150. Definitely not enough, but they will have to contend with this and bowl well now.
A good performance from Delhi, given that they leaked a lot of runs in their previous matches. They have done well to restrict Bangalore to 152/7. This game has been a good outing for Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, given the hammering that they took in the earlier games.
Kagiso Rabada is caught for a quick chat. He gets the Purple Cap. Tells that he is satisfied with the bowling performance of the team. Feels that they have done the hard work well and hope to finish it well. Adds that he feels that they didn't do a lot of things wrong in the previous games. Says that they have come with the same mindset which was there at the start of the tournament. Reckons that they didn't give easy boundaries to the opposition. Tells that the batters in the team are of top qu
Right, so 153 is the target for Delhi, in this must-win encounter of sorts. Their bowlers have done a splendid job and it is time for their batsmen to do the finishing job now. But it won't be that easy as Kohli's men would come in with a good deal of zealous charge to deny Shreyas's men any chance. What a chase it will be. It is on the other way, so stay tuned...
Brilliant bowling from Delhi. Brilliant comeback overall from them, from their wayward bowling in the previous games. Nortje was the pick, with his 3-fer. Besides him, Rabada got 2 as well, with a decent economy rate. Ashwin snared the big wicket of King Kohli and was very economical in his 4. Sams was the lone exception among the Delhi bowlers, going for over 10 an over with no wickets to his name.
19.2 : Anrich Nortje to AB de Villiers, OUT! RUN OUT! De Villiers is well short of his ground. A full toss on middle, De Villiers mistimes his slog towards long on. The call is for two. They go for it but Rahane from long on gets to the ball quickly and sends a flat throw to the keeper. Pant does the rest. The third umpire has been called for. One replay is all we need to show.
