Match over
0.0 : The players are back in the middle. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw are the openers for Delhi. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start off proceedings to the right-hander. Here we go...
0.1 : B Kumar to P Shaw, Back of a length to begin with on off. Shaw pushes it to mid on.
0.2 : B Kumar to P Shaw, That ball just does not arrive. Slightly short and outside off. Shaw goes for the pull but due to the slowness of the wicket, it hits the bottom and goes towards square leg for a single. The chase gets underway with that run.
0.3 : B Kumar to S Dhawan, FOUR! Cracked! Off the mark in style is Dhawan. Kumar goes full and outside off, Dhawan leans into it and strokes it through covers. A man in-form won't miss out on those deliveries.
0.4 : B Kumar to S Dhawan, FOUR! Through the leg side this time! You can't bowl to him there too. On the pads and Dhawan flicks it through square leg and it races away. Back-to-back boundaries for Dhawan.
0.5 : B Kumar to S Dhawan, A single now! Sensible batting! Dhawan plays this on the off side with soft hands and gets to the other end.
0.6 : B Kumar to P Shaw, A dot to end! An excellent first over for Delhi. Shaw works it with the angle to the man at mid-wicket.
Mohammad Nabi to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : M Nabi to S Dhawan, Slower through the air and outside off, Dhawan guides it to point.
1.2 : M Nabi to S Dhawan, Tosses it up again around off, Dhawan plays it towards cover-point. He wants a run but is sent back.
1.3 : M Nabi to S Dhawan, Gets a single this time as he guides it towards backward point.
1.4 : M Nabi to P Shaw, Stump-to-stump line, Shaw pushes it back to the bowler.
1.5 : M Nabi to P Shaw, A leading edge but a single! This is floated on off, Shaw looks to work it with the spin through the leg side but there ain't any. It goes off the leading edge and through covers for one.
1.6 : M Nabi to S Dhawan, A dot to end! Just the two from this over. They needed the second to be a good one as the first was expensive. It is the arm ball on off, Dhawan strokes it to covers.
Khaleel Ahmed is introduced into the attack.
2.1 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, Good delivery to begin with! The slower bouncer and it is outside off. Shaw is done in by the pace, he is early into the pull and misses it.
2.2 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, FOUR! Up and over! This should get Shaw going. Slightly short and he pounces on it. He pulls it over mid on and bags a boundary.
2.3 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, FOUR! Consecutive boundaries and this is even better! Slightly short again and Shaw is onto the length quickly. It is pulled with ease over the mid-wicket fielder and one bounce into the fence.
2.4 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, Goes again but misses! This is bowled wider, Shaw looks to go over the leg side but gets beaten.
2.5 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, FOUR! Creamed! Through the off side now. Length and around off, Shaw waits for it and then strokes it right off the middle through covers. Third boundary in the over.
2.6 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, A single to end but a top over for Delhi. 13 from it. Short and on the body, it is pulled through square leg for a single. 138 needed in 102.
3.1 : M Nabi to P Shaw, Slightly shorter and outside off, Shaw looks to cut but chops it to covers.
3.2 : M Nabi to P Shaw, DROPPED! Thampi drops a sitter! That had to be taken as Hyderabad needed a wicket. Tossed up on off, Shaw hits it uppishly towards mid off. Thampi needlessly tries taking it with a dive forward. The ball bursts through his hands and goes towards long off for two. How costly will this prove? Shaw is looking good.
3.3 : M Nabi to P Shaw, On the stumps, it is defended.
3.4 : M Nabi to P Shaw, BEATEN! The arm ball outside off, Shaw looks to play for the spin, ends up playing inside the line and gets beaten.
3.5 : M Nabi to P Shaw, Shaw goes back and works this through mid-wicket and takes one.
3.6 : M Nabi to S Dhawan, FOUR! Dhawan spoils the over with a cheeky stroke. He brings out the reverse sweep, connects well and hits it through backward point for a boundary. Delhi are dealing in boundaries. They are off to a brilliant start. Also, Dhawan now has 500 runs this season.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back on.
4.1 : B Kumar to P Shaw, Lovely fielding! Excellent commitment! This is slightly short and on middle, Shaw pulls it over mid-wicket. Rashid in the deep makes a lot of ground to his left, then dives and pushes it back in. The umpires go upstairs to check but he has done well. Saves two for his side.
4.2 : B Kumar to P Shaw, Down the leg side, Shaw looks to flick but misses. It has been wided.
B Kumar to P Shaw, FOUR! Class, top class this! Nothing bad with the delivery, it is on a length and around off, Shaw strokes it on the up past the diving mid off fielder and it races away. Dealing in boundaries is the young man.
4.3 : B Kumar to P Shaw, SIX! How easy was that? WOW! Kumar is taking a pounding here. He changes his length and bangs it short. Shaw spots it early and upper cuts it over the third man fence for a biggie.
4.4 : B Kumar to P Shaw, FOUR! Stand and deliver! 17 from the over so far! Length ball and outside off, Shaw smashes it over mid off and a boundary results.
4.5 : B Kumar to P Shaw, A rare dot! Down the leg side, Shaw looks to flick but the ball brushes the pads and goes to the keeper.
4.6 : B Kumar to P Shaw, Another dot! But a huge over for Delhi. They need only 114 now in 90 balls. This is fuller and on middle, Shaw works it towards mid-wicket.
Rashid Khan has been brought into the attack.
5.1 : R Khan to S Dhawan, Tosses it up on middle, it is worked to mid-wicket.
5.2 : R Khan to S Dhawan, That came off very slow! The googly and on off, Dhawan looks to pull but the ball turns away and comes off slow. Dhawan is beaten.
5.3 : R Khan to S Dhawan, Close! The leg spinner and Dhawan does not pick. It is on middle and comes back in. Dhawan at the very end gets his bat down and keeps it out. Saha appeals but he is the only one doing so.
5.4 : R Khan to S Dhawan, Looks to play the sweep shot but does not connect nicely. It goes towards short fine leg for one. 50 up for Delhi.
5.5 : R Khan to P Shaw, FOUR! Up and over! A little too full and Rashid pays the price. Shaw lofts it over covers, no one in the deep and a boundary.
5.6 : R Khan to P Shaw, A single to end the Powerplay as Shaw works it through mid-wicket. 6 from Rashid's first. Delhi are one run more than Hyderabad were after the first 6. They are on top at the moment. Another 108 needed in 84 balls with 10 wickets in hand.
Basil Thampi now.
6.1 : B Thampi to P Shaw, Slightly shorter in length and around off, it is guided through point for a run. Shaw seems to be timing the ball really well.
6.2 : B Thampi to S Dhawan, Back of a length and closer to the off pole, Dhawan guides it to point.
6.3 : B Thampi to S Dhawan, Another dot! Good slower one on middle, Dhawan picks it late and he keeps it out.
6.4 : B Thampi to S Dhawan, Another slower one, this time Dhawan waits for it and then guides it down to third man for a single.
6.5 : B Thampi to P Shaw, Another dot! Just the two from the over so far but he needs to end it well. Length and around off, Shaw hits it nicely but straight to point.
6.6 : B Thampi to P Shaw, Finishes it brilliantly, with a dot! Short delivery around off, Shaw goes for the upper cut but misses. Just the two from the over, Hyderabad need a few more of such overs to build the pressure.
Deepak Hooda to bowl now.
7.1 : D Hooda to S Dhawan, The arm ball on off, Dhawan defends outside the line, the ball goes off the inner half towards the leg side for a run.
7.2 : D Hooda to P Shaw, SIX! He has got enough on it. Shaw is in some mood today. He dances down the track, gets to the pitch of it and hits it towards long on. Not sure if he got all of it but hits it well enough to clear the ropes.
7.3 : D Hooda to P Shaw, Short and outside off, Shaw slaps it through covers and a run is taken.
7.4 : D Hooda to S Dhawan, OUT! Dhawan has been given out on the field! Brilliant, brilliant work from Saha. Top class stumping. Also, credit to Hooda as this was cleverly bowled by him. He sees Dhawan stepping down the track so fires it down the leg side. Dhawan looks to work it around the corner but misses. Now Saha moves swiftly to his right, collects the ball and then whips the bails off with a dive. Dhawan did try to make it in but Saha was quick there. The square leg umpire has his finger r
STRATEGIC BREAK. A wicket for Hyderabad at last. And a pretty bonus one, as a part-timer has provided that break. They will welcome Dhawan's wicket but will want Shaw soon.
Iyer is in.
D Hooda to S Iyer, Tossed up ball on off, Shreyas goes down and across before paddling it towards fine leg for a run.
7.5 : D Hooda to P Shaw, Short in length and outside off, Shaw slaps it through point and Rashid in the deep makes a sliding stop. Saves two.
7.6 : D Hooda to P Shaw, Fifty for Shaw, what a brilliant knock from the young man! A flighted delivery landing full on middle, Shaw works it through mid-wicket for a run. Brings up his 4th League fifty!
8.1 : R Khan to P Shaw, WIDE! It is down the leg side, Shaw lets it be. Saha does well to collect it. Wided.
R Khan to P Shaw, This is slapped down to long on for a single.
8.2 : R Khan to S Iyer, Loopy ball outside off, it dips on the batsman. Iyer mistimes it to the bowler.
8.3 : R Khan to S Iyer, Flatter and on off, Iyer works it towards the leg side for no runs.
8.4 : R Khan to S Iyer, FOUR! Width on offer and it has been put away! Short and outside off, Iyer waits for it and then guides it very late past point for a boundary.
8.5 : R Khan to S Iyer, The googly on off, Iyer goes back and cuts it to point.
8.6 : R Khan to S Iyer, A single to end another decent over for Delhi. A low full toss, it is hit down to long on for one.
9.1 : B Thampi to S Iyer, Back of a length on off, Iyer guides it down to third man for a single.
9.2 : B Thampi to P Shaw, Back of a length ball around off, Shaw looked to go over the off side but it goes off the inner half down to long on for one.
9.3 : B Thampi to S Iyer, Back of a length on off, Iyer goes back and pushes it to covers.
9.4 : B Thampi to S Iyer, Another slower one, it is easily stroked down to long on for a single.
9.5 : B Thampi to P Shaw, Two now! This is worked behind square on the leg side and the batsmen collect a brace.
9.6 : B Thampi to P Shaw, A bye! However, Shaw was luckly there as that missed the off pole by a whisker. Shaw makes room and Thampi bowls a slower one just outside off. He swings but misses. Saha does not collect it cleanly and a run is taken. Delhi are 83 for 1 at the halfway mark. They need another 80 in 60 balls.
Khaleel Ahmed returns. 1-0-13-0 so far.
10.1 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, On the shorter side around off, this is pulled through square leg for one.
10.2 : K Ahmed to S Iyer, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The skipper is out of here. Hyderabad needed something and the bowling change has given that to them. Khaleel is pumped up as he strikes on his second ball of his new spell. It is on a length and outside off, not a lot of width on offer there. Iyer looks to guide it down to third man but the ball kisses the outside edge and goes into the mitts of the keeper. Hyderabad need to keep picking wickets here.
The new man in is Rishabh Pant.
10.3 : K Ahmed to R Pant, Straightaway gets off the mark! Length and around off, Pant guides it down to third man and takes one.
10.4 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, Nicely watched and played! Short and around off, it is the slower one. Shaw picks it, waits for it and then pulls it through square leg for a run.
10.5 : K Ahmed to R Pant, Another single as this is flicked through square leg for one.
10.6 : K Ahmed to P Shaw, OUT! There goes another one! Khaleel has two in the over and this is the big wicket, it is of the well-set Shaw. Is this the momentum changing over? Khaleel bangs this short and the key here is the length, it is just outside off. Going away further. Shaw looks to drag his pull but does not get on top of the bounce. A top edge is induced and it lobs towards point where Shankar takes an easy catch. Tremendous over by Khaleel, just the 4 runs and two wickets from it.
Colin Munro walks out to bat next. Also Mohammad Nabi is back into the attack.
11.1 : M Nabi to R Pant, Full and in line of middle stump, watchfully defended.
11.2 : M Nabi to R Pant, Lunges to defend but the ball goes off the inner half of the bat towards mid-wicket. A single taken.
11.3 : M Nabi to C Munro, Outside off, flashed through point for a single.
11.4 : M Nabi to R Pant, SIX! That is colossal! Pant straightaway gets into the act. Nabi is guilty of bowling it very full. Pant tonks it over the long on fence for a biggie.
11.5 : M Nabi to R Pant, Sensible cricket! He taps this towards covers and takes one quickly.
11.6 : M Nabi to C Munro, A single to end an expensive over from Nabi. This is short and on off, Munro slaps it through covers and keeps strike.
Rashid Khan returns. 2-0-13-0 so far.
12.1 : R Khan to C Munro, The googly outside off, Munro does not pick it, he looks to push it through the off side in the end but misses.
12.2 : R Khan to C Munro, Another dot as this is another googly on middle, Munro pushes it back to the bowler.
12.3 : R Khan to C Munro, A huge shout but not given! That is very close. No review by Hyderabad. The leg spinner on middle, Munro does not pick it at all. He fails to keep it out and gets hit on the pads. Going down leg maybe. Hawk Eye confirms that the ball was clipping the leg stump. So a review could have been taken but it would not have mattered.
12.4 : R Khan to C Munro, A full toss on middle, Munro pushes it to the left of the bowler and goes for one. Rashid gets to the ball quickly and then as he slides throws it to the keeper but Pant is in.
12.5 : R Khan to R Pant, Plays the sweep shot to deep square leg for one.
12.6 : R Khan to C Munro, A dot to end a top class over by Rashid. Two from it only and now the rate is above 9. On off, Munro blocks it out.
Basil Thampi is back!
13.1 : B Thampi to R Pant, Slower ball on middle, this is eased down to long on for a single.
13.2 : B Thampi to C Munro, EDGY FOUR! Delhi won't mind! Munro steps down the track and Thampi bowls it short. Munro swings but only gets an inside edge which goes past the leg stump, past the keeper and into the fine leg fence.
13.3 : B Thampi to C Munro, Munro was a month early there! Slower one and outside off, Munro swings but is beaten by the lack of pace.
13.4 : B Thampi to C Munro, Another dot as Thampi bowls another top slower one. Munro uses his feet and Basil bowls it short and around off. Munro looks to go downtown but misses.
13.5 : B Thampi to C Munro, SIX! Pace on the ball and Thampi pays the price. This is easy pickings for Munro. It is on the pads, Munro says thank you very much as he flicks it over the backward square leg fence. 53 needed in 37 now.
13.6 : B Thampi to C Munro, A single to end a very good over! 12 from it. Short and it is the slower one. Munro pulls it through square leg and gets to the other end.
Munro has been adjudged LBW! But he takes the review straightaway. Looked to be spinning down leg side again. Will this clip the stumps as well? Not a no ball. No inside edge on Ultra Edge. GONE! Three reds and the wicket and review, both lost...
14.1 : R Khan to C Munro, OUT! Three reds and Munro has to take the long walk back, takes the review with him. Rashid strikes a vital blow in his last over. He gets his man. Munro was never picking him and he falls to him. The leg spinner on middle, Munro looks to work it on the leg side, he seems to have picked it but misses the ball. The ball hits the pads, an appeal follows and the umpire raises the finger. Munro reviews and Hawk Eye shows the on-field call is the right one. The game is evenly
Axar Patel walks in at number 6, replacing Munro.
14.2 : R Khan to A Patel, The leg spinner again, Patel looks to drive but it goes off the inner half towards short fine leg.
14.3 : R Khan to A Patel, BEATEN! The googly now and it is around off, Patel lunges and tries to defend but is beaten by the away turn. A wicket and three dots to start the over.
14.4 : R Khan to A Patel, OUT! Given out caught behind! Axar does not look happy. Have Hyderabad got a bonus wicket? They might have. A lovely delivery, landed around middle, spinning in, Patel goes back to chop it but misses. Now, the ball lobs off the pads and hits Saha on the chest and he then takes it on the rebound. Here is the catch. Replays show that there was no inside edge at all! Axar is distraught. Sadly for him, Munro took the review away with him...
Sherfane Rutherford walks in at number 7, replacing Axar.
14.5 : R Khan to S Rutherford, The ball sneaks between the bat and body of the batsman.
A run out appeal has been taken upstairs. Rutherford is the man in question. He seems relaxed though.
14.6 : R Khan to S Rutherford, NOT OUT! Rutherford is well in! A dot to end! A double-wicket maiden. This is the leg spinner on the pads, the batsman tries to defend but misses. The ball lobs towards the short fine leg fielder. He first goes for the catch but then is not able to take it. Rutherford though sets off for a run but is sent back. The fielder throws it to the keeper who catches it and whips the bails off. An appeal follows and the umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and they sho
Nabi is back on.
15.1 : M Nabi to R Pant, A short ball, pulled through mid-wicket for a single.
15.2 : M Nabi to S Rutherford, Around off, Rutherford walks down to defend but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
15.3 : M Nabi to S Rutherford, BOTTOM EDGE, ALMOST HITS THE STUMPS! Nervous moment for Rutherford and Delhi, though he indicates a thumbs up to Pant. Outside off, Sherfane comes down the track to defend but the ball takes the bottom half of the bat, then rolls back. Saha waits for the ball to roll onto the stumps but it just goes past.
15.4 : M Nabi to S Rutherford, Outside off, dabbed to third man for a single.
15.5 : M Nabi to R Pant, SIX! CRACK! Short and around middle, Pant pulls it behind square leg. Rashid Khan runs to his left from mid-wicket but cannot get there! The umpires check upstairs to see whether the ball has bounced and replays confirm that it has gone over.
15.6 : M Nabi to R Pant, On middle and leg, flicked through mid-wicket for a well-run couple. 10 from the over.
Strategic break has been signaled! The game is evenly poised at the moment. 42 needed in the last 4. Delhi have Pant and Rutherford out there. It has to be this pair for them who have to do it as there is not a lot of batting to come after this. Hyderabad on the other hand, know they are probably a wicket away from winning this one. All to play for. Who will come out on top?
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back on. 2-0-27-0 so far.
16.1 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, Good length and angling across the batsman, it is played to covers. A dot, it is gold at this stage.
STAT ALERT - What's the one thing we can expect in the next 4 overs? If stats are to be believed, then WICKETS! Delhi have lost the most wickets while batting at the death (43) prior to tonight!
16.2 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, Another dot! Pressure building on Delhi. Short and it is the slower one. He looks to cut but it goes off the toe-end to point.
16.3 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, Just a single! Singles are something Hyderabad won't mind. This is short and outside off, it is pulled through mid-wicket for one.
16.4 : B Kumar to R Pant, Another single. Wide outside off, Rishabh slaps it through covers and a single is taken.
16.5 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, SIX! That is huge! Pace and full and that has been deposited into the stands. Full and on off, Rutherford powers it over the long off fence.
16.6 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, A dot to end! A rubbish shot. Length and way outside off, Rutherford looks to hit it on the leg side but misses. 8 runs from this one, below the runs needed per over. 34 in 18 needed.
Basil Thampi time. 3-0-19-0 so far.
17.1 : B Thampi to R Pant, FOUR! 'Catch' is the call but no one could have caught that. Full and outside off, Pant hammers this straight back. Thampi just about saves his head from that missile coming straight back at his head.
17.2 : B Thampi to R Pant, SIX! CRASH! A length ball, around middle and leg, Pant swings this into oblivion over mid-wicket! 24 needed from 16 now...
17.3 : B Thampi to R Pant, FOUR! 14 from the first 3 balls and this probably has taken Hyderabad out of the tournament. Around middle and leg, Pant whips it behind square leg and the ball races away!
17.4 : B Thampi to R Pant, SIX! This is poor bowling. Slower ball, but on a length. Pant just smokes it over wide long on! 14 needed from 14 balls now.
17.5 : B Thampi to R Pant, On middle and leg, worked through mid-wicket for a run.
17.6 : B Thampi to S Rutherford, Outside off, Rutherford looks to push it to the off side but the ball takes a thick inside edge towards square leg. A run taken. 22 from the over!
18.1 : B Kumar to S Rutherford, OUT! That is up in the air... taken! Is it a little too late though? Kumar bowls the slower one outside off, Rutherford does not pick it. He is way too early in the shot and only manages to hit it into the sky towards long off. Nabi there settles under it and takes it nicely. Not sure though if this shot was needed. 12 now in 11 balls needed.
0.0 : Keemo Paul walks in.
18.2 : B Kumar to R Pant, A dot now! Short and outside off, Pant cuts but finds point.
18.3 : B Kumar to R Pant, SIX! When Pant is there, Delhi need not fear. Two blows was what Delhi needed to end this game, they have got one. Length and on off, Pant lofts it with ease over the long off fence for a biggie.
18.4 : B Kumar to R Pant, WIDE NOW! Short and outside off, Pant looks to upper cut it but misses. The umpire feels it is above the batsman's head and it has been wided.
B Kumar to R Pant, Another dot! Pant works it towards Kumar. He slips and fails to collect it. Pant does not take a run. Kumar is down but nothing wrong with him.
18.5 : B Kumar to R Pant, OUT! Pant is out of here! Are Hyderabad still in this? Once again Rishabh is seen throwing it away. Ponting in the dug out is not a happy man. Another slower one which does the trick. It is on a length and around off, Pant looks to finish it off in style but only hits it high up in the air towards long off. Nabi once again takes a very good, under pressure catch. 5 needed in 7, into the bowlers are Hyderabad.
Amit Mishra walks in at number 9, replacing Pant.
Who will bowl the final over? Khaleel Ahmed it should be. 2-0-17-2 so far. Can he still swing the game Hyderabad's way?
18.6 : B Kumar to K Paul, A dot which means 5 is needed in the last over. Also, Mishra will face the first ball. Length and around off, Paul looks to defend but misses. Game on here!
19.1 : K Ahmed to A Mishra, WIDE! Not the start Williamson would have wanted. It is the slower one outside off, Mishra looks to put bat on ball but then at the very end leaves it. It is outside the tramline and it has been wided.
K Ahmed to A Mishra, Cool, calm and composed by Mishra. He opens the face and guides it down to third man for one. 3 needed in 5 now.
19.2 : K Ahmed to K Paul, A dot! Short and wide outside off, this is inside the tramline. Paul looks to put bat on ball but misses. 4 in 3 needed.
19.3 : K Ahmed to K Paul, A single now! 3 in 2. Paul works it through mid-wicket and takes one.
Is that a wicket? Hyderabad are appealing for OBSTRUCTING THE FIELD. Saha's underarm missed the stumps at the striker's end but then Khaleel collected and had a shy at the bowler's end. Mishra then changed his track, running in between the throw and the stumps and got hit. Khaleel immediately appealed to umpire Ravi. He referred it upstairs with the soft signal as NOT OUT. First, they checked the caught behind and Ultra Edge detected nothing. So Umpire Ravi indicated not out. Then, Khaleel again
19.4 : K Ahmed to A Mishra, OUT! Mishra has come in the way of the throw and he has been given his marching orders! That is the correct decision and now Delhi need 2 in 2 with Keemo Paul on strike. Drama here. Khaleel bowls a full ball and it is outside off. Mishra swings but misses. They go for a bye. Saha misses the throw at his end. Ahmed collects it and throws it at his end but it hits Mishra. They appeal for obstruction of field and Williamson is also going for the review. First it is time f
Trent Boult walks in at number 10, replacing Mishra.
19.5 : K Ahmed to K Paul, FOUR! Delhi enter Qualifier 2! Keemo Paul has hit that to the boundary. A short ball and on middle, it is slower in pace. Paul picks it and powers it through square leg. The fielder in the deep runs to his right and tries to stop it but fails to do so. The Delhi players rush onto the field. They are elated as THEY WIN BY 2 WICKETS!
Phew! Fingernail chewing is done. Delhi have won a playoff game for the first time in the Indian T20 League history. They should have won it in a canter but some nerves almost saw them lose the game out of their grasp.
162 was a good total on a slow track but Dhawan and Saha's 66-run opening stand put Hyderabad on the back foot. But once the Powerplay was over, the slower bowlers came into play. The Orange team started running through the Delhi middle order and it was all upto Rishabh Pant.
With 34 needed from 18 balls, it seemed like Hyderabad's game to lose. And they perhaps lost it there, due to Kane Williamson's captaincy. He has better ideas than all of us here but with Khaleel having 2 overs left, Willy went for Basil Thampi. Pant thumped Thampi for 22 runs in the 18th over and it is really fitting that Delhi won from there, in spite of choking at the end.
A factor which has been the reason why Hyderabad were not consistent at all this season. Their bowling. Their most reliable bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, was not at his best at all and struggled even tonight. Rashid not being able to take wickets was a concern and tonight, even though he showed his class, there was not much support from the other end. Khaleel bowled his heart out and if he had bowled the 17th, things might have been different.
Hyderabad skipper, Kane Williamson, says they fought really hard to get to where they did as they did not feel the wicket was very good. They felt they would be back in the game after the Powerplay and that is what happened. Admits that it is frustrating but credits the way Delhi played. Feels that 162 was a winning total but Delhi started the Powerplay well. Praises the way his bowlers brought the team back in, though he then credits Delhi to get over the line. Agrees that Warner and Bairstow w
Prithvi Shaw now comes across for a chat. Says he dedicates this knock to his team as they backed him. Adds that he wasn't scoring a lot but they believed in him and he came good. Adds that the support staff helped him a lot and he also believed in himself, playing his natural game. Further admits that he is always nervous. On Rishabh Pant, he says that the keeper-batsman batted beautifully is always there when he is needed. On the planning for Friday, Prithvi says that they are going to enjoy t
Victorious Delhi skipper, Shreyas Iyer, is all smiles. On the last over, Iyer says that he cannot tell what he had in his mind nor can he comment on his expressions. Now, he gathers himself and says that it is an amazing feeling to have qualified for Qualifier 2. Praises his unit for expressing themselves and states that they are not fearing anyone and are ready to take on Chennai on Friday. On Delhi's bowling this evening, Iyer praises his bowlers for coming back strongly after Guptill's start
RISHABH PANT HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. On his knock, Pant says that on this type of wicket, if one gets set, he has to stay till the end. Admits that he got it very close but could not quite finish it off. Promises to do it the next time. On his mental state under pressure, Rishabh says that he always tries to be positive else it could start playing on your mind. On him attacking Bhuvneshwar Kumar, RP says that one plays the same set of bowlers almost everyday. Adds that he just looks
