0.0 : Hello and welcome all for the Third Test between India and England. Day-Night Test is always a fascination with the Pink Ball showing the tricks. All the talk, all the hype will turn to reality when the two teams take the field today. England coming on the back of a loss would look to correct the flaws and come with the best XI. While India after winning resoundingly at Chennai would be high on confidence and would look to unleash the best personnel on the opposition. Both teams need a win here
TOSS - Time for the all-important toss. Why we say it as all-important is because so far we have seen that the pitch has been really good on the first couple of days for batting so it will be a crucial one for both the teams. Virat Kohli for India and Joe Root for England are the men concerned. Javagal Srinath is the match referee. Virat being the home captain gets to flip the coin. Up it goes and Root calls Heads and Head it is. ENGLAND ELECT TO BAT!
England skipper, Joe Root says that they will bat first and make the first use of the surface. He syas that the surface is dry and should help the spinners. He also says that the Pink Ball lasts longer so the pacers too will have something under the lights. He says that they have four changes as Bairstow, Crawley, Anderson and Archer come in.
England (Playing XI) - Dominic Sibley, Zak Crawley (IN FOR RORY BURNS), Jonny Bairstow (IN FOR DAN LAWRENCE), Joe Root (C), Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes (WK), Jofra Archer (IN FOR MOEEN ALI) , Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, James Anderson (IN FOR OLLY STONE).
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says that they would have batted first as well. Feels this is a pitch where runs can be put early on. But tells he expects the pitch to assist the bowlers early on. Kohli says that the practice wickets have been spicy which has been a challenge and one they have enjoyed. Hopes that they play a lot more games in this stadium and in full capacity the atmosphere will be something else. Kohli admits he is worried about the lights. Tells the guys have adjusted well. Infor
Pitch Report - Time to know how the surface will play. Let's hear it from Deep Dasgupta and Ajit Agarkar. Agarkar says that the extra coat of pain makes the Pink Ball not reverse swing. Agarkar says that there is dry grass and there will be extra bounce which the spinners will enjoy. Dasgupta says there is some grass and there is some red soil which has been brought in from Mumbai. Agarkar adds there will be more pace than Chennai and the grass is there to hold the surface together. Dasgupta say
India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (WK), Washington Sundar (IN FOR KULDEEP YADAV), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah (IN FOR MOHAMMAD SIRAJ).

India have started off well and are on top at the moment. They have seen the back of Dom Sibley and Jonny Bairstow and have looked good with the ball. What a session this has turned out to be for India. The game has lived upto the hype there. India slightly ahead after the first session as they send three Englishmen back including the English skipper.
After opting to bat, England started on the worst possible note as they lost Sibley and Bairstow for ducks. Though the returning Zak Crawley survived some nervy moments to held the fort at one end. He went onto score a well-made fifty. Root was itchy at the start as he got hit on the fingers too but was settling in slowly. Just when it seems that England would go into the break with just two wickets down Root departed when the break was just round the corner. England look in all sorts of trouble
With the Pink Ball India were lethal. They started with Ishant Sharma sending Dom Sibley back early. From then on it was the spin of Ashwin and Axar who troubled the English batsmen. Axar ended with a couple as Ishant and Ashwin had a wicket each. Still a lot of time there in the day and they would look to continue the wicket taking spree.
... DAY 1, SESSION 2 ...
Right then! England are under the pump after the first session of the first day. Having lost 4 wickets they would want Ollie Pope and Ben Stokes who are unbeaten at the moment to do the bulk of the scoring with the rest of incoming batsmen too contributing with the bat if they are to post a good first innings total. India, on the other hand, would look to continue the same way in the next session and would want a few more wickets before the dew sets in and makes batting a bit easy. Join us to kn

27.4 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Ollie Pope, OUT! BOWLED! Ashwin strikes in the very first over of the session! Brilliant bowling as Ashwin once again spins his web around the Englishmen. Half the England side is back into the hut.

28.5 : Axar Patel to Ben Stokes, OUT! LBW! And once again it is the Umpire's call which has become a nemesis for the English batsmen. Tossed up around off, sliding in with the angle, Ben Stokes looks to play it off the back foot but is beaten there to get rapped on the pads. Stokes reviews it immediately and the replays roll in. No bat there confirms the Ultra Edge as the Ball Tracker shows Umpire's Call on hitting the stumps. England's vice-captain departs.

Flighted delivery on off, Leach lunges forward to defend but the ball turns and takes the outside edge of Jack's blade. It falls to Pujara at gully. He is a very good fielder at that region. He shows good reflex and takes a very good catch inches above the ground. The umpires go upstairs just to check if the catch is a clean one. The Soft Signal is out and replay
Stuart Broad walks in next with the bat.
37.2 : Third umpire is called for checking whether it is a fair catch or no. The soft signal is out. As the replays roll in. A few replays aren't conclusive. The third umpire is asking for a better angle but there isn't. Even the stump cam is used for that and here it shows that the fingers are underneath the ball. So Leach has to depart.

41.5 : Ravichandran Ashwin to Stuart Broad, NOT OUT! Broad survives. The ball is missing the off pole and this is the first decision in this game that has been overturned. Excellent review from Broad. Flighted delivery pitching on off, Broad looks to sweep but misses and gets hit on the pad. An appeal follows and the umpire is quick to raise his finger. Broad reviews it straightaway. Replay rolls in and Ultra Edge first shows no involvement of bat. Ball Tracker then comes on and shows that the ba
England take the review. Broad is the man in question as the replays roll in. Ultra Edge first up shows a flat line when the ball is near the bat. Onto the Ball Tracker now, Missing the stumps there. Finally England manage to overturn the on-field call.

0.0 : DRINKS! India's session so far. The Indian spin duo of Ashwin and Axar have spun a web around the English batsmen. With 8 down, England huffed and puffed to get past the 100 runs. With still an hour to play before the dinner, it seems unlikely that England will survive. India might come out to bat in this session only.

In his home ground, in the biggest cricketing ground in the world, and what a way to kick off the stadium's first cricket game. Broad decides enough of the defending lets go for some glory. That brings about his downfall. Floated delivery around off, Broad brings out the big sweep. He does not time it. He hits it high in the air but there is a man at deep square leg. He picks him

Tremendous from the left-arm spinner. Short and drifting in. Foakes gets on his back foot and looks to punch. He misses it completely but Axar does not. He hits the middle and off pole. ENGLAND BOWLED OUT FOR 112!
Brilliant show with the ball from India. The hero for them was the local boy Axar Patel. What a game he has had so far. England's batting looked mediocre. Not what we are used to see from the Englishmen. For the third time in the two Tests they have folded cheaply.
Opting to bat it was a poor start from England as they lost Sibley and Bairstow cheaply. Though Root and Crawley looked to resurrect the innings with a 47-run stand as Crawley brought up his fifty, But the wicket for Root opened the floodgates as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Batsmen came and went but none could apply themselves on this testing surface. In the end, just 112 is what they could muster.
With the bat Axar was the star as his straighter ones were difficult for the English batsmen to pick as he ended with his career best figures of 6/38. Ravichandran Ashwin ended with 3 as Ishant ended with a wicket to their name. Overall a good display of spin bowling sees India sieze the initially hand in the Test.
Right then! Now it will be India's batsmen against the English bowlers. How will India's famed batting line up play against the likes of Broad, Anderson and Archer? Will Leach too get the purchase like his Indian counterparts? Answer coming up shortly with India's first innings on the other side of the break.

1.4 : Stuart Broad to Shubman Gill, NOT OUT! Gill survives a nervy moment. Another fantastic session for India. Barring the toss everything they have touched has turned to gold. They have been on top of the game so far. England are already chasing this Test on Day 1 and they will need to be at their best with the ball in the final session.
England have been subpar so far in this Test and they will need to make the ball do the talking in the final session. Batting under lights will not be easy and England will need to ensure they do major damage before the end of day's play.  Can the tourists find a way to fight back? Join us for the final session to find out. Remember unlike a normal Test, the break in the second session in this Pink Ball Test is a 40 minutes one.
India first did the job with the ball in this session. They managed to take 6 wickets with local boy Axar grabbing up 4 and Ashwin picking up 2. The focus then was on the openers to see if they could see off the session and Gill and Rohit have managed to do that. There was a close call on Gill but he has survived the scare.

Jofra Archer to Shubman Gill, OUT! TAKEN! Archer strikes and it is the short ball that does the trick for him. Gill wanted to take him on but the ball came quickly. That was short and wide outside off. Gill looks to drag it from there and deposit it out of the park via a pull stroke. He ends up getting it off the cue end of his bat. The miscued shot goes high in the air but as far as mid-wicket. Zak Crawley gets under it and takes the catch easily. A poor stroke from Gill. He did the hard

This is a massive success for England. It is the arm ball from Leach which pitches around off and skids sharply. Pujara looks to defend off the front but misses to get hit on the pad. A big appeal follows and the umpire agrees with the bowler. Only inside edge can save Pujara. But he is having a word with his partner about

DRINKS! A good phase after the Dinner break for England. They have sent Gill and Pujara packing with Archer and Leach taking the wickets respectively. Rohit is looking good though and longer he stays, quicker the runs will flow and the Indians will get closer to the English total. A huge, huge appeal follows but it is turned down. Leach and Root talk and then the England skipper reviews. Time for the replay. Clearly bat first. Ultra Edge confirms the same. Here's Ball Tracker. Missing.
Root takes the reivew. Rohit Sharma is the man in question. Ultra Edge comes on and it shows no bat involved. Ball Tracker shows that the ball is missing the stumps as it is going over. Sharma stays on.

He runs to his right and then realizes the ball is the other way. He sticks it left hand out and tries to catch. Gets a hand to it but fails to hold on. Will be called a dropped chance but that was quality work from Pope.
28.5 : Jack Leach to Virat Kohli, A ripper! That lands just around off and rips past the outside edge. Foakes makes the keeping look so easy there. He collects to his right and breaks the stumps in a flash. Kohli wasn't going anywhere though so it won't matter. Quality ball to beat the outside edge and even better take from the keeper.

32.2 : Jack Leach to Virat Kohli, OUT! CHOPPED ON! Leach gets the big wicket, just before the Stumps. Huge, huge wicket. Leach is pumped. Shake of the head from Kohli as he walks back with a dejected look on his face. This is floated nicely. It is around off, Kohli hangs on his back foot and looks to cut. That is too close for that shot but the Indian skipper does that. He ends up getting a bottom edge and the ball canons into the stumps. He did all the hard work, looked really good but has been

Axar Patel, the man who took 6, is caught for a quick chat. Smiles and says that when things go well for you, you can feel it is all easy. Tells that he just wanted to repeat what he did in the last game. Tells that bowling to the same spot is his strength and he tried to bowl wicket-to-wicket. Tells that the wicket in Chennai wasn't skidding but here it did, probably because of the Pink ball. Says that the ideal speed on this wicket should be 85 kph to 90kph. Mentions that these days with so ma
As was the hype leading to the Pink Ball Test it lived up to it. Just one thing went England's way and that was the toss. Apart from that nothing went their way. First, they faltered with the bat then they failed to get the ball talking. Lack of picking regular wickets has put them on the back foot as they now play the chasing game.
After the Dinner break, India began watchfully with Rohit and Gill. Gill though tried to take on Archer only to lose his wicket. Then Pujara was sent packing for a 4-ball duck by Leach. Since then, Kohli and Rohit have gone about their game as they stitched a crucial 50-run stand. Rohit in the meantime went past yet another score of 50 runs and looks set for a huge one. And just when it looked like these two would take India through the close of play, Leach sent the Indian skipper back in the la
For England, Leach was the most successful with a couple of wickets as he sent both the mainstays of India Pujara and Kohli. The other bowlers too bowled their hearts out. Among the pace trio, only Archer managed to get a wicket as he had the first scalp of Shubhman Gill. Overall it was a hard toil for them. Root though would be happy that the dropped chance of Kohli did not cost much to them.
Earlier in the day, after opting to bat England folded for a paltry score of 112 with Zak Crawley being their highest scorer with 53 runs. The rest of them failed to provide any stability with the bat as they came and went quickly to hand India the advantage.
For India, it was the local boy Axar Patel who took his career-best figures of 6/38. Ravichandran Ashwin, as usual, was brilliant with the ball in hand, as he had 3 wickets to his name. While Ishant had a wicket too in his 100th Test. Overall it was a brilliant display of spin bowling as England batsmen struggled to come to terms with the wicket.
Right then! Day 1 of the Pink Ball Test is done and India are in the driver's seat. England have a lot of work to do first with the ball then again with the bat. India just trail by 13 runs and that is what they would look to erase that first. How will Day 2 turn out to be? Join us for the Day 2 of this Pink Ball Test. The action begins at 1430 local (0900 GMT). Till then cheers and take care.
.... DAY 2 ....
Have you ever felt like this was someone else's world and you were just living in it? Yeah? Well, that is exactly what Axar Patel would have been feeling like ever since he made his debut in the second Test. But in this case, he would feel like this is his world and we are all just living in it. What a start he has had to his Test career. Got a fifer in his debut game and just when you thought that he could not top this, he pulled another rabbit out of the hat.
He snared six wickets on Day 1 and instrumented the downfall of the English batters as they fell for the measly score of just 112 and Axar ensured that Joe Root would be questioning his decision to bat first, lying on his bed at the end of the night. In response, India ended Day 1 on 99, with the loss of 3 wickets, trailing by 13 runs and the hosts would be looking to swell this lead up to a big, big one. The visitors, on the other hand, would want to come out and make the pink ball talk, right

WOW! What has happened here? India came out, starting Day 2 at 99/3 but have bundled out for just 145. They have been completely bamboozled by England's spin twins, Leach and who else, you might be wondering? Well, it was none other than skipper, JOE ROOT! He ended up with a fifer. Yes, folks, you read that right! JOE ROOT HAS A FIFER! These two have ensured that England still has a saying in the game and they have gone through the Indian batting in the first session of Day 2.
India started off nicely enough with the bat, as Rohit and Gill got about their business. They added 33 runs to the first wicket before Shubman departed. Pujara fell soon after as well. It was then that India's heroes for most occasions, the duo of Kohli and Sharma stitched a 64-run partnership but the skipper fell right at the end of Day 1. After that, it was a complete meltdown, they were only able to add 46 runs in the first session of Day 2 and were cleaned up for 145, leading by 33 runs.
With the ball, this is what Root would have been hoping for. There was just one outright spinner and so Joe Root decided to roll his arm and what a decision this turned out to be. He ended with figures of, 6.2-3-8-5, which is almost lunacy for a batter to get. Leach supported him well as he snared 4 wickets to his name. A big smile on Joe Root's face as he walked off the pitch and why not too, a brilliant performance with the cherry.
Right then. Definitely England's session, this. No other discussions, please. Now, they are trailing by 33 runs and will look to come out and firstly turn that into a lead and after that, turn it into a heavy and hefty one. India will come out and look to replicate their show from the first inning. A lot of onus will also be on Ashwin and Axar again to deliver. Will they be able to do so? Or will Root and company show their might with the bat? All the answers after the Tea break. Join us for tha

There is not much to talk about concerning England's batting. It looked like they were not even present for most of their inning. Their downfall started right on the first ball of their second inning and did not stop until James Anderson lost his wicket. There is a budding stand in between when deputy, Root and vice deputy, Stokes added 31-runs but after this stand broke, nothing materialized for the visitors. A very poor show with the bat.
All about Axar and Ashwin with the ball. Patel struck twice in the first over of the inning and did not stop after that. In the 30.4 overs that were bowled, Axar and Ashwin bowled 30 of them, while Sundar got a crack, as he bowled just 4 balls and got one wicket. Patel got his fifer again and Ashwin snared 4 wickets, while also reaching the feat of scalping 400 Test wickets. A commanding performance by the hosts!
Right then. We all know where this game is heading. Come on, folks, WE KNOW IT! It looks all but India at the moment, with just 49 runs needed! But, we have seen stranger things happen and if Leach and maybe Root can do something with the ball, then we might be in for a twist. Join us shortly for India's second innings.

0.5 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Short on the pads, Rohit gets on his back foot and looks to defend but misses and gets hit on the pad.
0.6 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Excellent from Archer! A rare full toss on middle, Rohit whips it through mid-wicket. Archer gives it a chase and it looks like the ball will easily beat him to the fence. Archer though sprints and then puts the dive to save a run for his side.
0.5 : Will we see Joe Root from the other end? Yes, we will!
1.1 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, Root starts with a short around off and middle. Rohit tucks it behind square leg for a single.

1.6 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, Shorter on the pads, Sharma defends it to see off the session. DINNER ON DAY 2!
Excellent session for India! They managed to bowl out England first and then have also survived the two overs without losing any wicket. They are well on course to win this game. They need just 38 more runs to take an unassailable 2-1 lead in this 4-match Test series. England have been terrible in this session. Getting bowled out for 81 after doing so well in the first session will hurt the hosts a lot. This looks like a lost cause now but the tourists need to show some fight and make these 38 r
... DAY 2, FINAL SESSION ...
We are back for the third session on Day 2, which also looks like it will be the final session of the Test. The Indian batters, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill make their way out into the middle. 38 more needed for them to take a well deserved lead of 2-1 in this series. Jack Leach to bowl for the visitors.
2.1 : Jack Leach to Shubman Gill, FOUR! A great stroke to get the last session underway. First boundary in this inning for young Gill. Flat, around off, Gill swivels and pulls this one nicely through mid-wicket.

2.3 : Jack Leach to Shubman Gill, Gives it nice flight, outside off, spinning away and Gill makes a calculated leave.

3.5 : Joe Root to Shubman Gill, FOUR BYES. Just not England's game. Nothing going their way now. You can't blame Foakes for this one. Flighted, but down the leg side, spinning away as well and Foakes is not able to grab this one. The ball races away to the fine leg fence.
3.6 : Joe Root to Shubman Gill, SIX! Plays this shot so well. Gill wants to hurry back, by the looks of things. Full, tossed up, around off, Gill puts on his dancing shoes and skips down the track. Slams this one over long on for a biggie. 21 more needed.
3.2 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, Shortish on middle again, Rohit goes back and fends this one to the on side.
4.1 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Short, around off, punched to covers.
4.2 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Flighted on middle, Rohit presses forward and defends it out.
4.3 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! This time Rohit goes for the boundary. Uses his feet well too. Loopy and around off, Sharma dances down and powers this through mid on for a boundary.
4.4 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Well fielded by Jimmy this time. Shortish and outside off, Rohit goes back and slaps this one through point. Anderson does well to shuffle to his right and stop the ball.
4.5 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Flat, on off, pushed away to point.
4.6 : Jack Leach to Rohit Sharma, Full, loopy, on middle and leg, Sharma prods ahead and looks to block but seems to have missed it. Gets hit on the pad and the English players register a tame appeal but nothing from the umpire.

5.2 : Joe Root to Shubman Gill, Flat again, outside off, slapped away but straight o Archer at point.
England have taken a review against Gill for LBW!
5.3 : Joe Root to Shubman Gill, NOT OUT! The review was more in hope, than anything else from Root. Full, flighted, on middle and leg, Gill comes down the track and looks to pad this one away and does so. The players appeal but the umpire does not think so. Root goes for the review as he tries his luck. No shot offered and hence, no Ultra Edge is needed. Ball Tracker shows that the wickets would be missing. Not out, it will be.
5.4 : Joe Root to Shubman Gill, Comes down the track and clips this one through mid on for a single by Gill.
5.5 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, Full, yorker length, on middle and leg, dug out by Rohit to the on side for a single.

7.2 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! This was slammed away by Rohit! Root drags his length back and bowls a short one outside off, Sharma hammers this one through the covers for a boundary. 6 more needed now!
7.1 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, MISFIELD AND FOUR! Crawley is the culprit this time. Full, flighted, around off, Sharma gets on his knees and slogs this one towards the deep mid-wicket region. Zak runs to his left, tumbles and lets the ball through. 10 runs needed now.
7.3 : Joe Root to Rohit Sharma, Full, yorker length, on middle, Rohit digs this one out. The crowds want Rohit Sharma to finish things off with a biggie!

Root goes fuller, flighted, around middle and off, Sharma skips down the track and bangs this one over deep mid-wicket. INDIA WIN BY 10 WICKETS AND ALSO LEAD 2-1 IN THE SERIES!
No matter how tough the wicket would be to bat on, defending 49 against India was always going to be next to impossible. The tourists tried their best were never in with a chance and a day that started with hope and dreams has ended in what one would call a proper beating and nightmare.
The man of the moment, Ravichandran Ashwin, who has reached the feat of snaring 400 Test wickets is here for a chat! He says that it feels amazing and it is pleasant that it is happening in a winning cause and praises Axar for his performance too. Laughs and says that he is not able to get a grip about how these last 2-3 months have gone by and it all feels too dreamy. Adds that his effort in the lockdown has paid off. Says that he had a chat along with Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli before the Au
England started the day with a bang! They managed to restrict India to under 150 and restrict the lead to just 33, with skipper Joe Root finishing with 5/8 while Leach scalped 4/54. It looked like England had a chance to do something but that was just a false one. A memorable day at the brand new stadium here in Ahmedabad for India. They have outplayed, outclassed, and decimated the tourists.
What a day of Test match cricket! If anyone would have told that this game would end in two days, we are pretty sure everyone would have been laughing at that person but that is what has happened! The hype of the Pink Ball Test was longer than the actual Test as England threw away this Test and are out of contention to play the inaugural World Test Championship final against New Zealand at the Lord's! Emphatic win for India and from 1-0 down, they lead the series 2-1!
The losing skipper, Joe Root, starts off by saying that they were in a good position but they could not capitalize and it is something that they will look back on and try to learn and get better. Adds that they will come back stronger. Says that the plastic coating on the ball gathers off the wicket and if you put the ball on good areas, then you can make the ball talk. Further tells that they do not define themselves on this performance. Opines that they do not want to take the baggage across t
The Indian captain, Virat Kohli, says that the result went their way but admits the quality of batting was not up to the standard by both teams. Tells they were looking to score more when they were at 100/3. Feels that the application from the batters was not right as he feels the pitch was better to bat on. Kohli says it was bizarre that 21 out of 30 wickets were off straight balls. Kohli feels the batters need to trust their defense a lot more and feels that is what Test cricket is all about.
The local lad, AXAR PATEL HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He starts by saying that when things work out, it all looks easy and he just thinks about putting in the work and he just tries to keep things simple. Feels that he is happy that he is contributing with the ball for the team. On his strength, he says that he bowls wicket-to-wicket and makes things tough for the batters and he aims to not let the batters score a lot of runs. On being called Wasim Bhai by Pant, he says that Pant
That is it from this game! The Pink Ball Test has not lasted long as India has decimated England and now they need to just avoid defeat in the next game to see themselves play in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand at Lord's. England is out of contention for that and has a lot of work to do if they are to level the Test series. The fourth and final Test of the series will begin on Thursday, 4th March 2021. That game will be a red ball Test and will begin at 0930 local (0
India was absolutely ballistic with the ball in the second session. The spin duo of Ashwin and Axar bowled 30 overs in tandem. The pair shared 9 wickets between them with Axar grabbing 5-fer and finishing the Test with 11-wickets and becoming the first bowler to pick 11 wickets in a Pink Ball Test. Ashwin's 4-fer in the second innings saw him become the 2nd fastest player to get 400 wickets in Test cricket. England never got going with the bat and were bowled out for their lowest total against I
So just a quick summary of the Test. England won the toss which was talk of the tinsel town and decided to bat. That decision did not do much as they were bowled out for 112 with Axar picking up a 5-fer. It looked like they had no chance but they managed to bowl out India for 145 and had a sniff but that did not last long as they had never got going in their second innings and were embarrassingly bowled out for 81. India chased down the score of 49 without breaking a sweat.
