2.1 : L Malinga to S Gill, Full and slow on off stump, Gill pushes it towards mid on. Wants the single, and will get it too. Good running.
2.2 : L Malinga to C Lynn, The variation again. Malinga takes the pace off it once more and bowls it on a fuller length, Lynn picks it up and does enough to keep it out safely.
2.3 : L Malinga to C Lynn, Chance of a run out. Lynn walks down the track to this back of a length delivery and punches it towards covers. Lewis gets to the ball quickly and has a shy at the bowler's end, but misses. The batsmen complete the run.

5.3 : L Malinga to C Lynn, Full delivery just outside off, driven towards mid off for a single.
5.4 : L Malinga to S Gill, FOUR! Malinga misses it altogether. A loopy full toss on middle and leg, Gill closes the face and whips this through backward square leg. Nobody out there in the deep, so the ball will race away to the boundary line.

9.2 : R Chahar to S Gill, This is flatter and on the pads, it is worked around the corner for a single.
9.3 : R Chahar to C Lynn, OUT! In the air... taken! Chahar's strategy of bowling right arm over, reverse cutting the wicket has paid off. He has got the man who was hitting it to the boundaries with ease, Lynn. He gives this nice amount of air and lands it on middle, it turns away. Lynn looks to hit it against the turn but the ball catches the top edge and goes high up in the air towards mid-wicket. Lewis runs in and takes a good catch. A much-needed wicket for the visitors. Strategic break. Also, Lasith Malinga is back into the attack.

It is full and outside off, he looks to drag it over the mid-wicket fence. He gets more height than distance and Lewis takes a well-judged catch in the deep. They check for the front foot but Hardik is fine. Mumbai need to keep picking wickets if they are to stop this run flow.
Dinesh Karthik is the new batsman in.

17.2 : H Pandya to A Russell, SIX! He has picked the bones out of that one! Slower bumper and Russell picks it early. He goes back and pulls it high and handsome. Into the mid-wicket stand. Pressure on the bowler now. A maximum early in the over.

17.6 : H Pandya to A Russell, A single to end! 20 from the over! A good short ball and it is on the body. Russell looks to pull but is hurried into the shot. A top edge is induced which lands towards square leg. A single taken.
18.1 : J Bumrah to A Russell, WIDE! Bumrah too is feeling the pressure here. He bowls it way too wide outside off, Russell lets it be and it has been wided.
J Bumrah to A Russell, Top class! A yorker on middle, nothing Russell could do there. He jams it out back towards the bowler.
18.2 : J Bumrah to A Russell, Another yorker, all Russell could do is jam it down to long on for a single. That brings up fifty though. Not the quickest but surely effective.
18.3 : J Bumrah to D Karthik, NO BALL! Bumrah has overstepped! A full toss on off, Karthik hits it down to long off for a single. Free Hit for Russell now. The 200 is up!
J Bumrah to A Russell, FOUR! Gets it in the gap! Short and on middle, Russell goes back and pulls it. It is not off the middle but in the gap in the mid-wicket region. The outfield is too fast. A boundary off the Free Hit.
18.4 : J Bumrah to A Russell, SIX! Take that! That has been slapped! It is the slower one and outside off, Russell reaches out for it, gets it right off the middle and over the cover fence. The 50-run stand comes up with that.

19.1 : L Malinga to A Russell, SIX! That is in the slot and it has been hit out of here. Malinga misses the yorker and it ends up being a full ball on the pads. Russell tonks it over the mid-wicket fence. Ideal start to the last over.
19.2 : L Malinga to A Russell, FOUR! Through the off side, through the leg side, this guy is unstoppable. Full and outside off, Russell is down on one knee as he smashes it through covers.
19.3 : L Malinga to A Russell, FOUR! Fortunate boundary this, Kolkata won't care though! Full and outside off, Russell once again swings. The ball takes the bottom edge and then bounces over the keeper and into the third man fence.
19.4 : L Malinga to A Russell, The run has not been taken! Russell has decided he will be playing all the six balls here. This is full and on off, Russell smashes it towards long off.
19.5 : L Malinga to A Russell, No single taken again! Very full and outside off, almost a yorker. Russell jams it out towards deep point.
19.6 : L Malinga to A Russell, SIX! That is why he did not want to take the single! Russell has smashed that into the stands with ease. Full and on off, Andre powers it over long off. 20 from the last over and the innings ends in style. KOLKATA FINISH WITH 232!
What a monstrous batting display from Kolkata. Right from the word go, it's been bang-bang for them. Courtesy the top order, the hosts have managed to post the highest score of the season on the board. And all this has happened after they lost the toss. Being put into bat, Gill and Lynn started firing without much time and both scored their respective fifties in no time. The Kolkata brain trust decided to promote Russell to no.3 and that paid dividends, as he too clobbered his way to another lig
Not much to talk about the Mumbai bowling when they've been smashed around for 232 runs. Nobody was spared, not even Bumrah. Everybody got taken for runs at some point and the wickets didn't come either to help them stem the run flow in any way. The first 10 overs leaked 97 runs, while the last 10 saw 135 being scored all around the park. This is a bowling display they'd like to forget soon enough.
Shubman Gill who's come in for a chat says he is very pleased with the way he has played. Mentions that it is a must-win game for them and they have played well. States that he is happy opening the batting. Further adds that Lynn and Narine have got them off to good starts but he is pleased that he got the opportunity. Reckons that his partnership with Lynn was very crucial. States that Russell is one of the best hitters and he can bat anywhere. Ends by saying that he is very happy with the tota
This is a tall chase to say the least. It's going to be all about the start. A large part of the onus will be on de Kock and Rohit to get their side off to a flier and set the tone for the rest to come. The odds very much in Kolkata's favour, but we've seen crazy things happen in this sport. Let's see how the second half pans out.
0.0 : We are back for the chase. The players and umpires are out in the middle. Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma will open the batting for Mumbai. Sandeep Warrier will start the proceedings for Kolkata.
0.1 : S Warrier to de Kock, Starts off with a full ball and it tails back in. De Kock works it to the man at mid-wicket. Hint of shape for the bowler. Encouraging signs!
0.2 : S Warrier to de Kock, Good pace there! Bangs it a little short and bowls it on middle, De Kock looks to work it on the leg side but misses to get hit near the box. The ball rolls towards the off side and a leg bye is taken.

0.4 : S Warrier to R Sharma, FOUR! Educational edge! First boundary for Mumbai. Another good delivery, length and around off, it shapes away. Rohit at the very end opens the face of the bat, the ball though goes off the outside edge and to the third man fence.
0.5 : S Warrier to R Sharma, Once again, that is right off the middle. Length and on off, Rohit guides it to point.
0.6 : S Warrier to R Sharma, FOUR! Boundary to finish the first over and it is a good start for Mumbai. Short and on the body, Rohit swivels and pulls it to the backward square leg fence.
Sunil Narine to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : S Narine to de Kock, A little bit of turn there. It is pitched on off and then moves away. De Kock looks to force it through the off side but misses. Karthik too fails to collect it but no runs taken.
1.2 : S Narine to de Kock, OUT! In the air... taken! De Kock is out of here and Narine strikes in his first over itself. Horror start for the visitors chasing this huge total. Not what they would have wanted. It's a mountain of a total to gun down and the Protea is a vital player for them. De Kock looks to play the sweep shot but there is extra bounce on this delivery. It takes the top edge and goes high up in the air towards square leg where Russell takes a good catch.
Evin Lewis is the new batsman in.
1.3 : S Narine to R Sharma, Steps down the track but Narine bowls it short. Rohit looks to flick but misses to get hit on the pads.

2.4 : S Warrier to E Lewis, Back of a length and on off, Lewis stands tall and punches it to cover-point.
2.5 : S Warrier to E Lewis, SIX! All the way! What a shot. First of this innings. There is width on offer outside off, Lewis pounces on it. He slashes at it, had no intentions of keeping it down and the ball sails over the point fence.
2.6 : S Warrier to E Lewis, A single to end! So despite a biggie, just 7 from the over. Full and around middle, Lewis strokes it towards mid on for a single.
Harry Gurney is into the attack.

3.2 : H Gurney to E Lewis, Length delivery aiming the top of off stump, Lewis punches it towards mid on and takes a single.
The review has been taken. Big moment in the game. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has been given out leg before. After a chat with Lewis, he's decided to take the DRS. This looks close. Could be gone.
3.3 : H Gurney to R Sharma, OUT! It is umpire's call. The review will be retained, but Mumbai suffer a bigger blow by losing Rohit Sharma. Harry Gurney comes from around the wicket and angles in a length ball on middle and leg, Rohit swings across the line and misses it altogether. He's caught on the pads and the finger goes up. The Mumbai captain reviews it and replays show the ball is clipping the bails, so the on-field call won't be overturned. The visitors have lost both their openers and are
Suryakumar Yadav to bat next.

Strategic break. Mumbai off to a faulty start here as they've lost two key players in de Kock and Rohit rather early. The ball very much in Kolkata's court and they'll feel confident about defending this. Mumbai do have the firepower, but they need to start scoring now itself. Can't afford to waste any more time. Also, Andre Russell is introduced into the bowling attack.
6.1 : A Russell to E Lewis, OUT! Edged and gone! Mumbai lose another as Russell strikes on his very first ball. This isn't looking good for the tourists at all. Takes the pace off this one and bowls a full toss on the stumps, Yadav is early into the flick shot as a result and the ball flies in the air as a result. Dinesh Karthik will be having a little flashback here. A similar situation was presented earlier when his side was facing Bangalore. Just that, he was at the other end of the situation. Right now, he'd be feeling like Kohli right now. There, they needed 70-odd to win in 4 overs. Now, DK's side has to defend 70-odd in 4 overs. Muscle Russell was on their side, now they have to face up against Kung Fu (Hardik) Pandya. Going to be real interesting.
17.4 : H Gurney to H Pandya, FOUR! Brilliant, just brilliant! This is not a very bad delivery, it is full and on off. Hardik somehow gets it in the gap at the cover region and bags a boundary.
17.5 : H Gurney to H Pandya, A rare dot! Lovely bowling! It is a dipping slower one on off, Hardik seems to be deceived by it. He jams it out at the very end.
17.6 : H Gurney to H Pandya, OUT! In the air... and there goes Mumbai's hopes of pulling of a miracle! End of an unbelievable innings by Hardik Pandya. Brutal hitting by the all-rounder. However, it has come to an end. He falls prey to a short ball outside off, he looks to muscle it over long on but only manages to hit it high up in the air in that region. Russell there settles under it and takes it with ease.

Piyush Chawla to bowl again.
19.1 : P Chawla to K Pandya, The wrong 'un outside off, Krunal tries to sweep this away but it goes under his bat.
19.2 : P Chawla to K Pandya, Full and just around off, Krunal hits it down the ground but doesn't take the single for some reason.
19.3 : P Chawla to K Pandya, SIX! Probably that's why. This flighted ball is right in his arc. Full on middle and off, Krunal smokes it over wide long on for a half a dozen.
19.4 : P Chawla to K Pandya, OUT! Chawla strikes! Tossed up delivery outside off, slower through the air, Krunal looks to go big again downtown but gets a top edge on this occasion. It balloons towards mid off where the bowler runs and takes the catch himself.
Rahul Chahar out next.
19.5 : P Chawla to R Chahar, Chahar slaps this down through to long off and gets off strike.
19.6 : P Chawla to B Sran, There it is! That's the game for the hosts. KOLKATA WIN BY 34 RUNS! Sran hits this through mid-wicket and can only manage a single.
A comfortable win for Kolkata means they're still in the hunt and Mumbai will have to wait at least another game to qualify for the playoffs. An all-round performance from the hosts. They were colossus with the bat which did all the damage and then, were clinical with the ball. They got rid of Rohit and de Kock early, which dented the chase in a big way. Hardik Pandya kept hope alive as he was hitting the ball sweetly and to all parts of the ground, but there was no support for him from anyone e
The Kolkata bowlers were relentless. Barring the onslaught from Hardik, they kept everyone under check and kept picking wickets at regular intervals, which added to the already mounted scoreboard pressure. Except for Warrier, everyone who bowled chipped in with the wickets. Narine, Gurney and Russell got 2 each, while Chawla got 1. Plenty of positives for them to take, while a lot to work on for the Mumbai outfit. A timely reminder to them about the levels they need to maintain in this competiti
Mumbai skipper, Rohit Sharma, says they did not get a good start, kept losing wickets and it kept getting more and more difficult. Admits that Hardik Pandya needed support and had he got it, it could have been a different story. Mentions that they tried everything they could with the ball but it did not work. Credits the way the Kolkata batsmen played. Further adds that they will learn from this and they will find answers going forward and he backs his bowlers to bounce back. States that you nee
Hardik Pandya also comes in for a little talk. He says that he is disappointed he missed out on a ton. Mentions that he was lucky that he hit everything off the middle. Further adds that he did not think a lot, he just went there and was going after the bowlers straightaway. Reckons that he is holding his shape really well and he is very confident about his game at the moment. States that they needed a miracle and if Krunal could have got a couple of big hits, then it would have been possible. E
Kolkata skipper, Dinesh Karthik, says whatever happens, at the end of the day you have believe in the process and just make sure everyone is backing each other. Adds that at the end of the day, it's just a game and everyone should enjoy their experience. Reckons that it was a difficult track to bowl on and credits Hardik Pandya for the way he was striking the ball. States that he knew that it just takes one bad shot in such chases so he always believed his team would get over the line. On Shubma
Man of the Match, Andre Russell, says he's an Avengers fan and has been for a while. On being mentioned that there could be a superhero called Dre Russ, the all-rounder says he doesn't mind that at all. States that there are several reasons for his power-hitting, which include things like his bat speed, balance and core strength. Feels that he was just striking the ball well which he's pleased about. Mentions that they knew the conditions and applauds his bowlers for executing their plans well.
We're done with this one. Kolkata bounce back after 6 successive defeats and finally break the hoodoo. Mumbai won't suffer too much with this loss, just have to pick themselves up and move on to the next one quickly. Anyway, moving on, on Monday Hyderabad host Punjab and the action begins at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do tune in for that one. Cheers!
