RR 131/9 (20)
Match over
0.0 : Hello and welcome to the second of the final double-header Sunday as Kolkata take on Rajasthan. Both sides can reach 14 points but Kolkata's heavy losses in the past means that the chances of them finishing in the top 4 is mathematically possible but practically extremely difficult.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, can still make the playoffs but they will need a big win and hope the other results go in their favour. First up they will need to do what is in their hand. They are on a two game winnig streak and will look to build on that and try and delay their flight back home. Can Smith get one over Morgan or will Kolkata end their season on a high?
TOSS - We are all in readiness for the spin of the coin. Kolkata skipper, Eoin Morgan and Rajasthan skipper, Steven Smith are out in the middle alongside the match referee who has the coin. Up goes the coin. Morgan calls Heads but it comes down as Tails. RAJASTHAN OPT TO BOWL!
Rajasthan skipper, Steven Smith says that the dew has come in the last few games and that is a major reason to chase. Tells they have chased down well in the past and hope to do it again. On Stokes, he says he has been fantastic and his performance is bleeding confidence in their side. Informs that they are unchanged from the last game.
Kolkata skipper, Eoin Morgan admits he wanted to chase as well because of the dew. Morgan tells that it is not a night to hold back and they need to play well. Informs Andre Russell is back in the side and it is a big boost as he has been with the franchise for a long time. Informs there is one more change as Rinku Singh misses out and Shivam Mavi coms in.
RAJASTHAN PLAYING XI - Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson (WK), Steven Smith (C), Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Varun Aaron, Kartik Tyagi.

We are all set for the action to begin. The two umpires walk out to the middle. Rajasthan players are in a huddle with their skipper having a word with his troops before they take their respecive positions in the field. Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill stride out to the middle to open the innings for Kolkata. Rajasthan's pace merchant, Jofra Archer to take the new ball first up.
0.1 : Jofra Archer to Shubman Gill, Edgy start! Archer starts with a 142.0 kph full ball on middle and off. Gill looks to flick but gets a leading edge which fgoes through the vacant third man region to the man in the deep for one.
Review in the very second ball of the game. Rana has been adjudged caught behind. He has a word with Gill and at the eleventh hour he signals the 'T'.
0.2 : Jofra Archer to Nitish Rana, OUT! CAUGHT! Archer strikes in the first over. Rana goes back fr yet another golden duck but he also takes a review with him. Terrible, terrible review from Rana.  Archer hits the deck hard around off, the ball raises and goes away from Rana. He looks to have a feel of it but gets a feather on it to the keeper.  It goes straight into the mitts of Samson behind the stumps. A batter knows whether he has got something or not. By the looks Rana is unsure. He h
0.3 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, Full on off, Tripathi starts his innings with a push back to Archer.
0.2 : Another early blow for Kolkata. Who will walk out to bat at number 3 tonight? Rahul Tripathi has been handed the responsiblity.
0.4 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, An absolute jaffa from Archer. Hits the deck hard and makes the ball jag back in. Tripathi gets on his front foot and looks to play it away from his body. The ball comes back in and cuts Tripathi in half as it goes between his bat and pad to the keeper.
0.5 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, Play and a miss! Late movement as well. Good length  delivery just outside off, Tripathi makes room and looks to slam it on the off side but misses. As it goes to the keeper, it comes back in sharply and Samson had to move to his right to collect the ball.
0.6 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, No run, Superb first over. Archer ends the over with a bouncer. It is short and around the body. Tripathi ducks under it to see off Archer's first. Just a solitary run and a wicket off it. Tremendous over.
Who will bowl from the other end?
1.1 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, Aaron starts with a length delivery around off. Gill punches it to the left of cover.
1.2 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, Crispy but for nothing.. Full around off, Gill pushes it to mid off right off the meat of his blade.
1.3 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, FOUR! First one of the game and what a way to get it! Slightly shorter on off, Gill gets on his front foot and pulls it with class through mid-wicket for a boundary.
1.4 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, Good change of pace from Aaron! Slower ball outside off, Gill looks to drive but misses.
1.5 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Class from Gill! Full and angling in on middle and off. Gill gets on his front foot, keeps his head still and lofts his flick with delightful use of the wrists over mid-wicket for a boundary.
1.6 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Expensive start for Aaron! Releases the pressure Archer built in the first over. Aaron bangs it in short, Gill is ready for it as he pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary. 12 off the over!
2.1 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, Short ball on top of the body, Rahul ducks under it. Looks to the square leg umpire for a wide but does not get it.
2.2 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, Pacy good length ball on the pads, hastily tucked to short mid-wicket. Tripathi wanted a single to get off the mark but there was none there. He rushes back to the striker's end.

2.5 : Jofra Archer to Shubman Gill, Full and on the pads, flicked to mid-wicket for a single.
2.6 : Jofra Archer to Rahul Tripathi, Shortish ball, pitches on off and seams back in sharply. Rahul manages to dab it to the slip cordon.
Spin time. Shreyas Gopal is in now.
3.1 : Shreyas Gopal to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Archer can't reach it. Tosses a slower one outside off, Shubman goes inside out straightaway. He gets it over the stretched hand of Jofra at mid off and it goes for a boundary.
3.2 : Shreyas Gopal to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Good effort from Stokes though. Short ball on off, Gill rocks back and pulls it firmly in the gap between wide long on and deep mid-wicket. Ben Stokes, who was at wide long on runs to his right, dives but ends up parrying it to the ropes. It was struck really firmly.
3.3 : Shreyas Gopal to Shubman Gill, Tossed up around off, pushed down to long off for a single.
3.4 : Shreyas Gopal to Rahul Tripathi, FOUR! Tripathi sets himself free with that. Tossed up on off, Rahul gets down and sweeps this handsomely to the deep square leg boundary.

3.6 : Shreyas Gopal to Rahul Tripathi, FOUR! Pulls this one over the infield and gets a boundary. Short ball, Rahul rocks back and pulls it over short mid-wicket for a boundary. 17 off Gopal's first over. An excellent one for Kolkata though.

5.1 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, Lands it on off and gets it to seam into middle and leg, tucked to mid on for a run.
4.6 : Ben Stokes to Rahul Tripathi, SIX! Just over the man at deep square leg. Short ball, Tripathi swivels a touch and pulls it over the leaping Tewatia at deep square leg.
5.2 : Varun Aaron to Rahul Tripathi, FOUR! Brilliant. Tripathi moves to the leg side, Varun follows with a knuckle ball. Gave Tripathi enough time to cut this in between cover-point and point.
5.3 : Varun Aaron to Rahul Tripathi, On the pads, Tripathi looks to tuck it on the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. It rolls over to short fine leg and they take a single.
5.4 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, Length ball around off, driven to mid off for a quick single. 50 up already for Kolkata. Chiefly due to that 17-run over by Shreyas earlier.
5.5 : Varun Aaron to Rahul Tripathi, Follows the batsman down the leg side with a good length ball on the pads, Rahul looks to flick but misses. It comes off his pads to the on side. Leg bye taken.
5.6 : Varun Aaron to Shubman Gill, FOUR! Nice, nice, nice. Full and down the leg side, Shubman helps it by closing the face of his bat to flick it wide of the man at short fine leg for a boundary. End of the Powerplay and Kolkata are 55/1.
6.1 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Tossed up on off, pushed back to the bowler.
0.0 : Rahul Tewatia into the attack now.
6.2 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Excellent fielding from Stokes there. Full and around off, Tripathi goes over covers. It is to the left of Stokes, who was at long off. Stokes rushes in and fields that. Keeps it to just one. Would have been a boundary otherwise.
6.3 : Rahul Tewatia to Shubman Gill, Flatter on middle and leg, tucked to the leg side for a single.
6.4 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, NOT OUT! Nobody from Rajasthan was greatly excited there. Tossed up around off, the legbreak. It pitches and spins away. Tripathi looks to play at it but misses. Sanju Samson collects it and whips the bails off, appeals for the stumping. The square leg umpire takes it upstairs. One replay is enough to confirm that the foot was inside the line as the stumping was effected.
6.5 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, WIDE! Down the leg side, Tripathi looks to play at it but misses.
Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, SIX! High, high and handsome. Tossed up on off and middle, Tripathi powers it mightily over long on.
6.6 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Flatter around off, driven to Smith at cover.
7.1 : Kartik Tyagi to Shubman Gill, Outside off, Shubman looks to hit it but misses.

7.6 : Kartik Tyagi to Rahul Tripathi, Full and on off, stroked down to long on for a single.
8.1 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, FOUR! In the air but away from the fielder. Short ball outside off, Tripathi goes back and cuts it to the right of point. It was well to the left of sweeper cover as well. And hence a boundary results.
8.2 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Short ball, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a single.
8.3 : Rahul Tewatia to Shubman Gill, OUT! CAUGHT! Shubman Gill did not hit it well at all. Just not what Kolkata wanted. Floated on off, Gill goes for the sweep shot. However, he hits it uppishly. He gets it off the bottom edge. It goes sky-high near deep mid-wicket. Jos Buttler runs to his right, gets under it and takes it.
DRINKS! Kolkata have lost two wickets, Shubman Gill earlier, just what they did not want, heading into a break. Gill was looking good and departed unfortunately at a crux. Now, Tripathi is well set in the middle and it is important for Kolkata not to lose the momentum that they have gained so far. They need to be more careful, after the break, especially. Sunil Narine comes out to bat now.
8.4 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Flatter and well outside off, Tripathi stretches out and taps it on the off side for a single.
8.5 : Rahul Tewatia to Sunil Narine, Around off, pushed to cover-point.
8.6 : Rahul Tewatia to Sunil Narine, OUT! TAKEN! Ben Stokes is as solid a fielder as one can get. The Narine experiment fails again for Kolkata. Tossed up on off and middle, it was the googly. Narine does not read that well. He looks to slam that on the leg side and hits it against the spin. It went high in the air towards wide long on. Stokes gets under it and takes it comfortably.
9.1 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, On the pads, Morgan flicks it to the on side for one.
0.0 : Eoin Morgan walks out to the middle now.
9.2 : Kartik Tyagi to Rahul Tripathi, Full on off, Tripathi drives it on the up to the right of sweeper cover for a run. Rahul wanted two but seeing it go to substitute Miller, Morgan was quick to squash that idea.
9.3 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, Back of a length delivery outside off, Morgan hops and cuts but finds point inside the circle.
9.4 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, SIX! BOOM! Morgan has been susceptible against short ball but Tyagi does not have the pace of Archer.  Morgan expected a short one and was quick to get on his back foot and swivel his pull over the fine leg fence for a biggie.
9.5 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, Now cuts it in front of square on the off side for a brace.
9.6 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, Back of a length delivery on off. Morgan dabs it towards backward point and shouts a loud no. 10 off the over. Kolkata are 84/3 at the halfway stage of the innings.
10.1 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Flatter ball on off, Tripathi pushes it through mid on for a single.
10.2 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, Morgan reverse sweeps this floated ball through Tyagi, at short fine leg, for a single.
10.3 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Outside off, Tripathi comes down the track and pushes this to cover-point.
10.4 : Rahul Tewatia to Rahul Tripathi, Flatter ball on leg, Tripathi rocks back and whips it to deep mid-wicket for a single.
10.5 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, Tossed up outside off, Morgan comes down the track and looks to slam it over the bowler's head. However, he ends up mistiming it badly to cover-point.
10.6 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, Tossed up on middle and leg, tapped to the leg side for a single.
11.1 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, The reverse is out but straight to short fine leg. A slight fumble there and that allows a single to be taken.
0.0 : Shreyas Gopal is back in the attack. A hugely expensive first over his, 17 off it.
11.2 : Shreyas Gopal to Rahul Tripathi, Flatter ball on middle and leg, Rahul goes back and looks to play it on the on side. Gets an inside edge which goes past the stumps to short fine leg.
11.3 : Shreyas Gopal to Rahul Tripathi, Shorter on off, bunted down to mid on for one.
11.4 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, Short ball, outside off, pulled in the gap between wide long on and deep mid-wicket. Easy two.
11.5 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, WIDE! Bowls a quicker one but bowls it too wide outside off, Morgan lets it be.
Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, Off the edge.... but just short. Flatter ball outside off, Morgan looks to cut but ends up getting an outside edge. It goes uppishly but falls just short of Aaron at short fine leg. A single.
11.6 : Shreyas Gopal to Rahul Tripathi, OUT! CAUGHT! Rahul Tripathi goes after making 39. Rajasthan need to keep taking wicket to contain the scoring rate. Tossed up on off, Tripathi sits down and looks to slog it over deep square leg. There is no fielder there but since the ball was a long time in the air, Uthappa could come from fine leg and take it comfortably.
12.1 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, FOUR! No chance for the fielder in the deep there. Floated on off, Morgan goes for the sweep shot. It is uppish and racing to the deep mid-wicket boundary. Parag, who was at deep mid-wicket, runs to his left, puts in a full stretch dive but it beats him to the boundary. Good effort but no chance there.
0.0 : Dinesh Karthik walks out to bat now.
12.2 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, Flatter on off, tapped to the leg side for one.
12.3 : Rahul Tewatia to Dinesh Karthik, OUT! CAUGHT! Rajasthan are slowly clawing back in this game. An inside edge and that proves to be Karthik's undoing. Tossed up on off and middle, Dinesh comes on the front foot to block. But he ends up getting an inside edge onto his pads. It lobs off the same straight into the hands of Steven Smith at short mid-wicket.
Andre Russell comes out to bat now.
12.4 : Rahul Tewatia to Andre Russell, Tosses the googly on off and middle, Andre just about keeps it out.
12.5 : Rahul Tewatia to Andre Russell, Now he dabs the legbreak through the slip fielder and takes a run. Gets off the mark.
12.6 : Rahul Tewatia to Eoin Morgan, Tossed up around off, Morgan defends it to short third man off the outer half of his bat.
13.1 : Shreyas Gopal to Andre Russell, Tosses a flat legbreak on off and middle, defended back to the bowler.
13.2 : Shreyas Gopal to Andre Russell, Russell comes down the track and looks to launch it over long on but ends up mistiming it through the carpet to deep square leg. Kolkata get a single.
13.3 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, FOUR! Morgan had just about enough of it for a boundary. Shorter ball outside off, Eoin goes dead straight, to the left of the bowler and gets a boundary.
13.4 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, FOUR! Loose from Gopal. Short ball outside off, Morgan lifts it a good measure, over the covers, for a boundary.
13.5 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, SIX! That goes all the distance. This time it is fuller and around off, Eoin Morgan lofts it mightily over Steven Smith at long off.
13.6 : Shreyas Gopal to Eoin Morgan, SIX! High, high and long as well! Flatter ball around off, Morgan goes on the back foot and pummels it sky-high over deep mid-wicket. That soared all the way into the empty stands there. 21 runs off that Gopal over. What a one for Kolkata!
0.0 : DRINKS! Brilliant comeback from Rajasthan. All credit to their sensational man of the season, Rahul Tewatia! There is a lot of dew but Tewatia's magical spell of 4-0-25-3 has put Kolkata in a spot of real bother. From 73/1, the 2-time champions are stuttering at 100/5. They have two of the deadliest batters out in the middle though in the formof Russell and Morgan. Can the skipper and Dre Russ enhance their reputation?
14.1 : Jofra Archer to Andre Russell, Good length and around off, defended back on the track.
0.0 : Jofra Archer is back to bowl his third over. 2-0-3-1 for him. Impressive as always.
14.2 : Jofra Archer to Andre Russell, EDGED AND FOUR! Russell is lucky there. Shortish ball outside off, Andre slashes hard at it. He gets a thick outside edge and it goes just to the right of the keeper for a boundary. Samson though tried his best to pocket that.
14.3 : Jofra Archer to Andre Russell, SIX! Applause from the Kolkata dugout there. Fullish ball around off, Dre Russ swings this away loftily over deep mid-wicket.
14.4 : Jofra Archer to Andre Russell, Follows the maximum with a single by guiding this towards backward point for one.
14.5 : Jofra Archer to Eoin Morgan, Around off, pushed to cover-point.
14.6 : Jofra Archer to Eoin Morgan, A dot to end the 15th over. Short ball outside off, Eoin slashes hard at it, only to miss.
Kolkata's head coach, Brendon McCullum is caught for a chat on the sideline.McCullum says that they need a good score with the dew coming in. Hopes that they can get it and feels they need to be a bit more positive and put Rajasthan under pressure. McCullum says the grass is a bit wet and informs that in the last game, it got a lot wet. Tells they need to be a bit more aggressive with the ball. McCullum says the danger and presence of Russell is huge and he is a big player for them. Tells if he
15.1 : Kartik Tyagi to Andre Russell, SIX! Pommie, on-air, predicted that Andre Russell will unleash himself in this over and he is right. Full on off, Andre clears his front leg and powers this over long on.
0.0 : Kartik Tyagi is back to bowl. 2-0-14-0 are his figures.
15.2 : Kartik Tyagi to Andre Russell, SIX! Just over wide long off there. Full and on off, Russell clears the front foot again and this time he lofts it just over the wide long off fielder for a consecutive six.
15.3 : Kartik Tyagi to Andre Russell, OUT! TAKEN! Russell would be disappointed with himself. Kartik lets out an air of celebration, mostly out of frustration that he was smashed for a couple of sixes earlier. Full and around off, big Dre Russ clears his front foot again and this time he looks to slog it over the man at sweeper cover. However, this time, he does not get it as he would have liked. It is straight to the man at sweeper cover. The substitute fielder, David Miller, takes it comfortabl
Pat Cummins comes out to the middle now.
15.4 : Kartik Tyagi to Pat Cummins, Full and around off, driven through the covers for a single.
15.5 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, On the pads, Morgan misses his flick to get hit on the pads.
15.6 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, A leg bye to finish. On the pads again, Morgan misses his flick. The ball goes to the off side off his pads and the batsmen take a leg bye.
Ben Stokes is back to bowl.
16.1 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, On off, pushed back to the bowler.
16.2 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, Outside off, Morgan looks to carve it over backward point but misses to connect that one.
16.3 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, Slash and a miss! Outside off again, Eoin goes after it but misses by a mile.
16.4 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, Oooh... Stokes! That would have been a superhuman run out! Around off, Morgan clips it to short mid-wicket and strolls out for a single. Stokes though rushes in there like a superman, dives and quickly picks up the ball and flings a throw to the non-striker's end but misses. Had he hit, Morgan would have been short my miles.
16.5 : Ben Stokes to Pat Cummins, Shorter on leg, Pat looks to glance it but misses. It comes off his pads to the leg side and they take a leg bye.
16.6 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, FOUR! A pretty good over nonetheless from Stokes. Outside off, Morgan cuts it firmly. It is to the right of sweeper cover. The sweeper cover fielder runs towards the direction of the ball but fails to cut it off.
17.1 : Jofra Archer to Pat Cummins, Very full and outside off, Cummins fails to dig it out.
0.0 : Is that a boundary? Or is Stokes' knee touching the ropes when he flicked the ball in? The umpires are having a look. Nothing conclusive, so no boundary.
17.2 : Jofra Archer to Pat Cummins, Full and around off, Pat Cummins thumps this past the bowler, the ball is racing away to the long off fence. Stokes runs in and dives and fields it excellently. Keeps it to just the two. The umpires though want to have a look if Stokes fielded it cleanly or did he touch the ropes. Multiple replays happen and nothing conclusive emerges. So, just the two.
17.3 : Jofra Archer to Pat Cummins, On off, Cummins strokes this uppishly but it lands safely in the fine leg region. A couple.
17.4 : Jofra Archer to Pat Cummins, A direct hit and Cummins would have been gone. Full and around off, Cummins drives it to mid off and takes off for a single. Smith, at mid off, collects that and has a shy at the bowler's end but misses the stumps.
17.5 : Jofra Archer to Eoin Morgan, A feeble appeal from Archer for a LBW. Fullish on middle and leg, Morgan looks to tuck it on the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. It goes off the deflection to the off side and a leg bye is taken. Archer's appeal is not entertained as it was going down leg with the angle perhaps.
17.6 : Jofra Archer to Pat Cummins, Bouncer on top of the stumps, Cummins ducks under it.
18.1 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, This is dabbed on the off side for a single.
18.2 : Ben Stokes to Pat Cummins, SIX! Full and around off, Pat clears his front leg and launches it over long off for a maximum. A beautiful shot.
18.3 : Ben Stokes to Pat Cummins, Cummins pushes this on the off side for a single.
18.4 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, SIX! And that brings up Morgan's half ton as well. Full and around off, he slogs this over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. What a way to bring up your fifty!
18.5 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, SIX! Morgan is picking the slower balls easily here. Slower fuller ball around off, Eoin Morgan clears his front leg and powers this over the bowler's head for a huge maximum.
18.6 : Ben Stokes to Eoin Morgan, FOUR! Stokes is not at all happy here. Outside off, Morgan cuts it nicely, to the right of backward point, for a boundary.
19.1 : Kartik Tyagi to Pat Cummins, Full and on off, driven down to long off for a couple.
19.2 : Kartik Tyagi to Pat Cummins, OUT! CAUGHT! Terrible result for Kolkata. Cummins is gone but it leaves Morgan at the non-striker's end only. Full and outside off, Cummins throws the kitchen sink at it. Gets a thick outside edge which goes to Sanju Samson behind. The Rajasthan keeper takes it with ease.
19.3 : Kartik Tyagi to Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Low full toss on middle, flicked to long on for a single.
19.2 : Kamlesh Nagarkoti walks out to the middle now.
19.4 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, Full and around off, driven down to long off. Morgan does not want the single. He wants to face the last two balls. Also, Stokes is there at long off and he does not want to take his arm on for a couple.
19.5 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, Very full on the pads, glanced to deep square leg. Again, Morgan says no to the single.
19.6 : Kartik Tyagi to Eoin Morgan, SIX! That is going, going.... gone! Full ball on off and middle, Morgan clears his front foot and absolutely clubs this over the bowler's head for a huge biggie. It went over the sightscreen as well. KOLKATA FINISH WITH 191/7.
So 192 is what Rajasthan need to have a shout at a spot in the playoffs. Kolkata's batters have done the job, can the bowlers now rise up to the occassion? Who will stay alive with a chance to stay in the competition? Join us for the chase to find out.
Kolkata's Rahul Tripathi is up for a chat. Tripathi says that there was a lot of seam on offer. Says Jofra Archer was bowling really well. Believes his team can pull it off. States that there is dew but that chasing 192 will not be that easy. On the assault by Russell and Morgan, Tripathi says that it was a fantastic end to the innings. Says that if Kolkata get a good win here, they can go through to the playoffs.
A tough evening on a tough pitch for Rajasthan's bowlers. Archer was once again tremendous, giving away just 19 and picking up a wicket off his 4. Tewatia though was the star for Rajasthan. We have said that a few times this season, but for his performance with the bat. Today, Tewatia starred with the ball as well. His 3/25 changed the tide of the game. Apart from Archer and Tewatia, the rest had a nightmare.
After being put into bat, Kolkata lost Rana in the very first over. Tripathi and Gill though solidified the innings with their 72-run stand. Once Gill departed, Kolkata seemed to have lost their wheels. From 72/1 they were stuttering at 99/5. Morgan decided to take on Rajasthan's attack and his blistering knock along with cameos from Russell and Cummins has given Kolkata momentum, heading into the innings break.
A superb batting display from captain Morgan has helped Kolkata reach a very good score of 191. Rajasthan though will fancy themselves to chase this down, as there is a lot of dew and the pitch so far has looked good to bat on. At the halfway stage, this game is right in the balance.
0.1 : We are all set for the chase to begin then! 192 is the target for Rajasthan. The Kolkata players are in a huddle near the ropes. Morgan is all smiles. Possibly because he believes his side has a huge total on board. Rajasthan's openers, Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes, make their way out to the middle. Pat Cummins to begin with the ball for Shah Rukh Khan's team. And we are off then...
Pat Cummins to Robin Uthappa, SIX! What a way to start, what a way to start. Full ball on the pads, Robin swivels a touch and lofts it mightily over fine leg.
0.2 : Pat Cummins to Robin Uthappa, WIDE! Down the leg side, Uthappa looks to send it to the fine leg fence again but misses. Karthik the keeper dives to his right and stops that from going to the boundary. The batters manage to take a run.
Pat Cummins to Ben Stokes, On a length around off, blocked.
0.3 : Pat Cummins to Ben Stokes, FOUR! Stokes was very lucky there. Fullish and around off, Ben came down the track and looked to play it on the off side. However, he gets an inside edge. Luckily for him, it goes past the stumps and wide of the short fine leg fielder for a boundary.

0.5 : Pat Cummins to Ben Stokes, Stokes gives room on the off side and strokes this good length ball towards cover for a single.
0.6 : Pat Cummins to Robin Uthappa, OUT! CAUGHT! 19 and a wicket off the first over. Robin Uthappa is the man who is gone. Full on middle and leg, Robbie looks to flick. 1.5 : Shivam Mavi to Ben Stokes, FOUR! Mavi had 4 good balls and now this one. On a good length outside off, the Big Ben cuts it in front of point and the ball races away for a boundary.
1.6 : Shivam Mavi to Ben Stokes, On the pads, clipped to the leg side for a single.
2.1 : Pat Cummins to Ben Stokes, OUT! TAKEN! What a brilliant catch from DK. Reminded us of a stunner that he took in the 2007 T20 World Cup in the slips cordon. Full and outside off, Stokes swings hard across the line. But he ends up getting an outside edge. It goes to the left of Dinesh Karthik, the keeper. It was travelling quickly and was well wide of him. But Dinesh made a 'leap of the year' to pluck it.

However there is no timing at all as the ball rushed onto him. He only manages to get it to the left of the keeper. Dinesh Karthik, jumps and takes a good catch, yet again. Rajasthan need 155 runs in 90 balls still, with only 5 wickets in hand.

0.0 : DRINKS! What an amazing bowling display this has been from Kolkata so far! They have sent half the Rajasthan side back in the pavilion. The most expensive buy of the season, Pat Cummins, was brilliant with the new ball and instrumental as 4 out of 5 have been his victims. Rajasthan need 126 off 66 balls and though they have lost half their side, they have Buttler and miracle man, Tewatia out in the middle. Comprehensive win for Kolkata and they have knocked out Rajasthan. Kolkata have finished the league with 14 points but will it be enough to see them qualify for the playoffs? Only time will tell. Bet all the Kolkata fans and players will be glued to their Television for the next two days, keeping a close eye on the remaining 2 games.
Chasing 192, Rajasthan looked like they would be able to chase it for just 13 balls. They lost Uthappa in the first over Stokes followed soon. That set the precedent for the evening. Wickets fell in clusters and when you lose 4 inside the Powerplay, it is difficult to comeback especially chasing 192! Buttler and Tewatia scored 35 and 31 but that was the only saving grace in an abject batting performance. That sees them finish bottom of the league.
Excellent bowling performance from Kolkata. Cometh the hour, cometh the man! That is what their most expensive buy did. He delivered at the most crucial stage for his side. His 4-fer set his side up for the win. Mavi and the impressive Chakravarthy built on it with 2 wickets each. Nagarkotti got one as well. This ensured Rajasthan never recovered.
Earlier in the evening, Kolkata managed to reach 191, thanks to their captain, Morgan! His superb 68 off 35 did not just steady the sinking ship but also took them to a winning total. Tewatia was the star with the ball for the side from Pink City as he finished with a 3-fer. That though was not enough to keep Kolkata to a chasable total.
Steven Smith, Rajasthan's captain, says that the wicket was probably around 180. Losing 4 wickets in the Powerplay, it was always going to be tough from there. Says that Pat Cummins bowled nice lengths. Adds that the first over, Rajasthan got off to a flier but then kept losing wickets later on. Says that some batters did not take responsibility throughout the tournament. Says though that there are a couple of positives that Rajasthan have unearthed - Jofra Archer and Rahul Tewatia. Smith says t
Andre Russell is up for a chat. Says that it is good to be back and be amongst the runs as well. Says that he had a tough rehab. Is priviliged to be back and running around. He says that he would have been out for a long time but for Kolkata's doctors and the management, he is up and running and was able to feature in this game. Says that he does not want to disturb the healing process and force himself to bowl. On his wicket, him getting caught, Russell admits that he knew he stroked it straigh
Stay tuned for the presentation.
Eoin Morgan, THE WINNING CAPTAIN, says that the score they got was around a par score. Adds that all his batsmen felt that it was a really good score. Feels that to post that big of a score even with wickets falling, Morgan says he is amazed. States that Kolkata knew that dew would come in later on, in the evening. Having spent time out in the middle, he says that the hard and good length balls work well. States that Cummins set the tone. Says that winning the game was about taking the wickets.
No prizes for guessing who is the Man of the Match. It is Pat Cummins. Admits that it was not a very great start for him. He did not look too forward when bowling. On his favourite ball, Cummins says it is top of the stumps, around off. Says that he likes to put most of his balls in that area. In T20 cricket, Pat says that some days one bowls well and some days they don't. Is happy that a couple of wickets have come. The longer the tournament has progressed, the better he has bowled, Cummins say
Right then, the last of double header action this league season ends then. Earlier, Chennai beat Punjab and both teams are now flying back to India. While in game 54, Kolkata reduced Rajasthan to pulp. The latter is also out of contention for the playoffs spot now. Kolkata is still alive, courtesy the 60-run win but they must wait, need to reiterate, THEY MUST WAIT! We will only get to know later on, if they can qualify. Meanwhile, the action continues on Monday, 2nd November 2020, with Delhi ta
