Magnificently bowling performance by Mumbai! They were under the pump when Chris Lynn was going great guns and Kolkata reached 49/0 in the Powerplay. But the tides turned after that. The Pandya brothers were in the thick of things after the first six overs and played a crucial role in bringing Mumbai on top. Hardik removed both the openers while his elder brother kept bowling tidily from the other end. After that Lasith Malinga removed Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell in one over to peg Kolkata
It's a clinical effort from Mumbai so far where all their bowlers contributed. Lasith Malinga proved to be a bit expensive but he finished with three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah did what he does best and bagged a couple while Hardik Pandya, as mentioned already, took out Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill. Here he is giving an interview to Kevin Pietersen...
Hardik Pandya says that he positions himself under high catches the way he does because he wants to keep his balance and follow the basics. He feels there is something in the pitch but they also bowled well and got wickets regularly and also adds that the Kolkata batsmen struggled for timing. On what was the plan to Russell, Hardik tells that they just wanted to go hard from the start and he mentions that sometimes it comes off sometimes it does not. He is glad it paid off tonight.
Right then, Mumbai have a modest target of 134 in front of them. Looking at their batting might, this should be a cakewalk but in this format, you never know. Kolkata will be giving their all in the field to defend this total as their season depends on it. We are expecting a riveting contest. Do join us in a short while.
