Hello and a very warm welcome to game number 7 of group A where Namibia will face Netherlands. It is a critical game for both these teams in order to stay in the race for Super 12 stage as both Namibia and Netherlands lost their opening encounter.
Netherlands, on the other hand, have a decent side but they were handed a comprehensive defeat in their first game against Ireland. They have some experienced players in the form of Ryan ten Doeschate and Roelof van der Merwe who need to step up in this all-important fixture if they are to stay in the race for Super 12. The men in orange would be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss against Ireland and not to forget that they would also be keen to win this match comprehensively to b
Namibia were blown away by Sri Lanka in the first game and they will certainly need to pull their socks up heading into this game as they cannot afford to lose one more game. They suffered a heavy defeat in their opening game and it certainly did not help their net run rate either. Gerhard Erasmus and his men would be eager to comeback strong and put on a better show against Netherlands.

Gerhard Erasmus, the skipper of Namibia, says they will bowl first and they are looking to put pressure on the opposition. Adds that they came up against a strong side in Sri Lanka in their first game and they would like to correct those things in the middle. Pieter Seelaar, the skipper of Netherlands, says that they would have bowled first. Adds that they want to concentrate on the game on hand and not think too much about the last game. Informs that there are two changes.
Russel Arnold is down for the pitch report. He says that the pitch is nice and hard. Adds that 155 would be the par score on this wicket. Ian Bishop says that when Sri Lanka played here, their spinners targeted the stumps and maybe that is the way to go on this pitch.

A really good show with the bat by the Dutch has taken them to a score which can be considered just above par here. At one stage they did look like getting around the 170-run mark but they will be still pleased with the effort today.
Max O'Dowd was the mainstay for Netherlands! He played the anchor role and the others played around him. His stand of 82 with Colin Ackermann was very crucial. That laid the platform and Scott Edwards added the finishing touch at the end. They paced the innings quite well and despite losing two quick wickets in the middle overs, did not let things dry up.
The bowlers of Namibia weren’t that bad either. The Netherlands’ batters just played quite sensibly. Namibia did bowl the right lengths and there were not many bad balls. One could probably say they were a little too predictable with their slower ones, especially Jan Frylinck who is quite reliable but did not have the best of days despite taking a couple of wickets. David Wiese was the only other to get into the wicket’s column.
Netherlands’ batters will feel they have done their job and now it is onto their bowlers. They do have a good bowling attack and will fancy themselves to defend this. Namibia will have to bat out of their skins to chase this down. All to play for in the second half. Stay tuned.

What an outstanding win for Namibia and their hopes are alive. Whereas, that is the end of the road for Netherlands. Have to say, David Wiese has taken the game away from the Dutch single-handedly. This is the first-ever win for them in a T20 WC match!
Namibia were 51 for 3 and were in deep trouble. The run rate needed was almost 10 but then came the stand which completely changed the game. A 93-run stand between David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus took Namibia to the brink of victory. David was the mainstay with a half ton. Erasmus fell but David ensured he was there till the end and took his side over the line.
The Dutch bowling was really good in the first half but in the latter half, they just did not have any answers to the hitting of David Wiese. Except for Fred Klaassen, the rest were taken to the cleaners. Also, one wonders why Pieter Seelaar did not bowl more as he bowled a really good first over. Some poor bowling and poor decisions probably cost Netherlands.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bat, courtesy of a good knock by Max O'Dowd, Netherlands got to a good score. They also managed to dismiss the top order of Namibia quickly but a blinder of a knock from David Wiese helped his side get over the line.
David Wiese, Player of the Match, says that he is exhausted as it was very hot out there. Adds that they got a big over just before the drinks break and that helped them. Tells that it is a special feeling to win this match for Namibia and thanks their management for believing in him and giving him a chance.
Pieter Seelaar, the skipper of Netherlands, says that the score was par and Namibia bowled quite well. Adds that in hindsight, he could have come onto bowl earlier. Finishes by saying that it is quite a tough loss for them.
