After being put in to bat first, Papua New Guinea did not enjoy the best of starts and they struggled to score against the quality bowling unit of New Zealand. The side kept losing wickets and they had no reply to the bowling of the Kiwis. Charles Amini and Sese Bau did try to battle out for a while and they knitted a partnership of 27 for the 3rd wicket which happens to be their best batting display as a pair in this game. The Kiwis were the dominant side in all the department with the ball and they ran over the batting line-up of Papua New Guinea. Lockie Ferguson was phenomenal as he had figures of 3 for none after 4 overs and this is something he would gladly take back with him.
