We are all set for the action to begin! The Chennai openers, Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson make their way out to the middle. The new ball is in the hands of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Let's play!!!
0.1 : B Kumar to S Watson, Good swing and bounce! On a length outside off, shaping away after landing. Watson lets the ball go. Good carry through to the keeper.

1.6 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, Back of a length outside off, Faf looks to cut the ball but he does not time it well and finds the fielder at point. Just 3 runs off this over, excellent start this by the hosts.
2.1 : B Kumar to S Watson, On a length outside off and coming inward, Watson looks to punch it off the back foot but the ball takes the thick inside half and goes towards mid-wicket.
2.2 : B Kumar to S Watson, Back of a length and on the money, punched back to the bowler. Pressure of the dot balls might act on Watson now.
2.3 : B Kumar to S Watson, FOUR! Edged but flies over slip! The pressure of two dot balls was telling and Watson looks to drive with a flamboyant front stride. The ball takes the outside edge and flies over the head of a diving Warner. The ball runs away to the fence. Could have been a catch had there been a taller fielder there.
2.4 : B Kumar to S Watson, Length delivery on middle, Watson flicks it through mid-wicket. The fielder dives and does well to stop it. The batsmen get two runs.
2.5 : B Kumar to S Watson, Short of a length delivery, Watson looks to pull but gets hit on the thigh pad.
2.6 : B Kumar to S Watson, BEATEN! On a good length and outside off, Watson looks to cut but misses it because he played it away from the body.
3.1 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, Bowls it on a good length and outside off, du Plessis looks to defend but gets beaten on this one due to the seam movement on this one.
3.2 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, FOUR! Straight over the bowler's head! Slightly fuller this time and Faf gets under it. He lofts it over the bowler, no fielder there and a boundary results.

3.4 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, Bowls it wide outside off, du Plessis looks to drive away from the body but misses it.

5.2 : K Ahmed to S Watson, Bowls the slower one this time, it just does not arrive. Watson once again looks to cut it but ends up chopping it towards point for a single.
5.3 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, SIX! Faf has picked the bones out of that one. What a sound that made of the bat. It was a slower one on middle, Faf picks it, clears the front leg and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. First of the game.
5.4 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, FOUR! Faf du Plessis is dealing in boundaries here. Slightly fuller this time from Khaleel. FdP caresses it through covers. The 6th over is proving to be very expensive.
5.5 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, TWO BYES NOW! Faf first looks to play the paddle but the line is outside off. He then adjusts and tries to scoop it over the keeper but misses. Bairstow fails to collect it but the fielder at short third man gives it a chase and keeps it down to two.
5.6 : K Ahmed to du Plessis, A single to end the Powerplay as Faf hits it down to long on. A expensive last over, 14 from it and in the end, it has turned out to be a good Powerplay for the visitors. They are 41 for 0 after it.

6.2 : S Nadeem to S Watson, Flighted delivery on middle, Watson punches it towards mid on for a run.

6.4 : S Nadeem to du Plessis, 50 up for Chennai and also the 50-run stand is up between Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis. Floated on middle, du Plessis flicks it towards mid-wicket for a run.
6.5 : S Nadeem to S Watson, FOUR! How late was that played? WOW! A risk taken and it comes off. The arm ball coming in with the angle. Watson makes room, waits for it and then cuts it off the stumps through point for a boundary.
6.6 : S Nadeem to S Watson, Tossed up on middle, Watson punches it towards mid on for a run. 14 runs from this over as well, 28 from the last two. Chennai now are getting a move on.
Rashid Khan is into the attack.
7.1 : R Khan to S Watson, FOUR! Welcome into the attack, Rashid. Slightly short and on middle, Watson is quickly onto his back foot and pulls it through square leg for a boundary.
7.2 : R Khan to S Watson, Tossed up on middle, Watson drives it back towards the bowler for a run.
7.3 : R Khan to du Plessis, Rashid bowls a wrong 'un on middle, du Plessis flicks it through mid-wicket for a run.
7.4 : R Khan to S Watson, Short delivery on middle, Watson pulls it through mid-wicket for a run. He may have picked the wrong 'un.
7.5 : R Khan to du Plessis, Tossed up on middle and leg, du Plessis nudges it towards square leg for a run.

8.3 : S Sharma to du Plessis, Slower one on off, Faf plays it late towards short third man and takes a single.
8.4 : S Sharma to S Watson, Very well bowled! A yorker on middle, not a lot the batter can do with that. He jams it down to long on for a single. This is a good over till now. 2 balls to go though.
8.5 : S Sharma to du Plessis, Another slower one and another single as this is hit down to long on.
8.6 : S Sharma to S Watson, A couple to end! Still a decent over though. Another low full toss which Watson hits it to the right of long on. He does well to move to his right, slide and save it.
Strategic Break! It has been a fine start by the Chennai openers and they are going at a good rate but they need to explode. On the other hand, Hyderabad need to take quick wickets and need to bowl more tight line and lengths to restrict the batsmen and put pressure on them. Also, Shahbaz Nadeem is into the attack.
9.1 : S Nadeem to du Plessis, Fires it on middle, Faf goes back and works it through mid-wicket for a run.
9.2 : S Nadeem to S Watson, Fires it short and on the body. Watson is a little late on the pull shot, ends up mistiming it to deep square leg for a run.
9.3 : S Nadeem to du Plessis, SIX! High and handsome! Faf once again makes excellent use of the feet and then clears the long on fence with ease.
9.4 : S Nadeem to du Plessis, Dances down the track once again but does not get to the pitch of it. He smashes it down to long off for a single.
9.5 : S Nadeem to S Watson, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Nadeem strikes and isn't he a delighted man. Rightly so as he has broken the partnership which was going great guns. He does Watson in pace here. He was generally firing in the deliveries but this time slows it up. Watson is completely bamboozled, he looks to cut but misses and the ball knocks the off stump off. The opener though has done a decent job, along with his partner he has laid the foundation. Can Chennai build on this or will Hyderabad capita
Suresh Raina is the new batsman in.
9.6 : S Nadeem to S Raina, Flighted delivery on middle, Raina flicks it towards mid-wicket and gets off the mark. 10 runs have come from the over but a crucial wicket of Watson also.
Vijay Shankar comes on.
10.1 : V Shankar to S Raina, Full on leg, Raina flicks it towards square leg for a run.
10.2 : V Shankar to du Plessis, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Both the openers are back in the hut in the space of 4 balls. The change in pace did Watson in and now it is the extra bounce which gets the better of Faf. Shankar may have bent his back on this one and lands it just behind a length. Faf looks to cut but there is extra bounce and also, the ball is too close to play that. The outside edge is taken and Bairstow makes no mistake behind. Now two new batsmen for Chennai in the middle. They will hav
Ambati Rayudu is the new batsman in.
10.3 : V Shankar to A Rayudu, Just missed the stumps! On a good length and outside off, Rayudu looks to cut but gets an inside edge. It goes towards fine leg for a run.

10.5 : V Shankar to S Raina, Short and outside off, Raina cuts it through point for a run.
10.6 : V Shankar to A Rayudu, On a good length on middle, Rayudu defends it off the back foot. 3 runs have come from the over and a crucial wicket of du Plessis. Perfect start by Vijay Shankar.
Rashid Khan is back into the attack.

11.3 : R Khan to S Raina, Back-to-back googlies from Rashid Khan. It is bowled just outside off, Raina looks to defend but misses it.
11.4 : R Khan to S Raina, FOUR! Not sure if that was meant to play that fine but Raina won't care! This is quicker and a little more width is offered outside off. Raina goes back and guides it past first slip for a boundary.
11.5 : R Khan to S Raina, Short delivery on middle, Raina plays a half pull towards mid-wicket for a run.
11.6 : R Khan to A Rayudu, Too short on middle, Rayudu pulls it towards square leg for a single.
12.1 : V Shankar to A Rayudu, On a good length on middle, Rayudu drives it back towards the bowler where Shankar fails to stop in his followthrough. It goes past him for a run.
12.2 : V Shankar to S Raina, FOUR! EDGY! Once again Raina won't care as long as they come. Looks to whack Shankar across the line but only manages a top edge and over the keeper for a boundary.
12.3 : V Shankar to S Raina, On a good length on middle, Raina plays it to mid off.
12.4 : V Shankar to S Raina, Length delivery on middle, Raina flicks it towards mid-wicket for a single.
12.5 : V Shankar to A Rayudu, Length delivery on middle, Rayudu plays it towards short mid-wicket where the diving short mid-wicket fielder dives to stop it but it goes through him towards mid on. The batsmen get two runs.
12.6 : V Shankar to A Rayudu, On a good length on off, Rayudu keeps it out. Another tight over by Vijay Shankar.
Review time! Raina has been adjudged LBW but he has reviewed. Could go either way this.
13.1 : R Khan to S Raina, OUT! Umpire's call and Raina has to take the long walk back. He does not take the review with him though. Rashid gets his first. However, it is not a bad review by Raina. He looks to play the slog sweep but misses to get hit on the back pad. An appeal and the umpire raises the finger. Raina reviews and replays show that the ball is clipping the top of leg stump. Chennai seem to be losing their way a little here.
0.0 : Kedar Jadhav is the new batsman in.
13.2 : R Khan to K Jadhav, Tossed up on middle, Jadhav taps it towards point for a run.
13.3 : R Khan to A Rayudu, Flighted delivery on middle, Rayudu flicks it towards mid-wicket for a single.
Another review! This time by Jadhav. He has been given out LBW. This looks out though.
13.4 : R Khan to K Jadhav, OUT! Umpire's call again but Jadhav has to take the long walk back. Two in the over for Rashid Khan. It is the googly which does the trick for him. It pitches outside off and turns back in. Kedar looks to flick but misses. The ball hits him on the front pad, an appeal and the umpire agrees. Jadhav reviews but replays once again show the on-field call is the right one. Chennai do not lose a review but they lose a big wicket. Also, this is almost similar to the way Kedar
Sam Billings is the new batsman in.
13.5 : R Khan to Sam Billings, Floated on middle, Billings defends it off the front foot.
13.6 : R Khan to Sam Billings, Flighted delivery on off, Billings keeps it out. 2 runs and 2 wickets have come from the over. Exceptional one from Rashid Khan.
Khaleel Ahmed is back on!
14.1 : K Ahmed to A Rayudu, Back of a length on middle, Rayudu goes back and keeps it out.
14.2 : K Ahmed to A Rayudu, Shuffles right across and flicks it towards square leg for a run. 100 up for the visitors.
14.3 : K Ahmed to Sam Billings, Continues bowling it just behind a length on off, Billings guides it to point.
14.4 : K Ahmed to Sam Billings, That is way too short and it bounces way above the batsman's head. Wided.
K Ahmed to Sam Billings, OUT! Billings walks back for a duck! Fails to make an impact on his return. The slower ball does the job for Ahmed. It is on a length and around off, Billings is a touch early in the drive. He hits it uppishly towards cover where Shankar takes it with ease. Half the side back in the hut for the visitors. From 79 for no loss, they are now 101 for 5. Into the bowling all-rounders are Hyderabad.
Ravindra Jadeja is the new batsman in.
14.5 : K Ahmed to R Jadeja, Bowls it on a good length and outside off, Jadeja leaves it alone.
14.6 : K Ahmed to R Jadeja, On a length on middle, Jadeja flicks it towards mid-wicket and gets off the mark. Khaleel Ahmed finishes his spell with figures of 4-0-22-1. A fine day in the office for him.
Sandeep Sharma is back on!
15.1 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, WIDE! Bowls it down the leg side, Jadeja looks to flick but misses it.
S Sharma to R Jadeja, On a good length on middle, Jadeja looks to tuck but gets hit high on the pads.
15.2 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, On a good length on off, Jadeja defends it off the back foot.
15.3 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, Length delivery on middle, Jadeja nudges it towards the leg side.
15.4 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, Bowls a slower ball on off, Jadeja comes down the track and plays it to the off side. He is struggling with his timing here.
15.5 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, Bowls a knuckle ball on off, Jadeja looks to whip but gets it of the inner half of the bat towards mid-wicket for a run.
15.6 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, FOUR! Short and put away! The slightest of width on offer and Rayudu pounces on it, he cuts it through point for a boundary. Spoils what was a top over till then, still a very good one though.
Strategic Break! Hyderabad have done well to bounce back and have picked 5 wickets. They have kept it tight and put pressure on Chennai batsmen. On the other hand, Chennai are losing their way after a good start from the openers. They need atleast 150 to challenge Hyderabad on this wicket which is becoming slower and slower. Rashid Khan is back into the attack.
16.1 : R Khan to R Jadeja, The leg spinner on off, Jadeja works it towards the bowler.
16.2 : R Khan to R Jadeja, This time the googly outside off, Jadeja does not pick it and pulls his bat out at the last moment.
16.3 : R Khan to R Jadeja, Three dots in a row as this is again played towards the bowler. This innings by Jadeja is only piling up the pressure on Rayudu.
16.4 : R Khan to R Jadeja, 4 dots now! This is excellent stuff by Rashid. Jadeja defends it to the right of Khan. Jadeja is off for a run but then realizes that Rashid gets to the ball quickly. The bowler fires it back to the keeper who whips the bails off but Jadeja is in.
16.5 : R Khan to R Jadeja, Floated on leg, Jadeja flicks it towards short fine leg for a single.
16.6 : R Khan to A Rayudu, NOT OUT! That did not take the edge but it hit the back pad. The impact though was umpire's call. A good review in the end and it was more out of hope. Had they got Rayudu, the last recognized batsman would have been in the hut. A rippa this one by Rashid. It is flatter and it pitches on off, it spins away sharply. Rayudu looks to defend but seems to have missed it. Rashid is appealing but the umpire shakes his head. Williamson decides to take it upstairs. Replays roll
Hyderabad take a review now but not sure for what? Maybe a caught behind. Rayudu seems relaxed.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back into the attack.
17.1 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, On a length on middle, Jadeja flicks it towards square leg for a run.
0.0 : A slight halt in play here... The umpires are getting the bails checked and exchanged it as the lights on one of them was not functioning. Should not be too much of a delay though!
17.2 : B Kumar to A Rayudu, FOUR! Excellently played by Rayudu. He surely holds the key for Chennai. Once again it is slightly short and Rayudu cuts it past point for a boundary.
17.3 : B Kumar to A Rayudu, Full toss on off, Rayudu drives it towards covers for a run.
17.4 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, Full toss on off, Jadeja comes down the track and hits it towards mid off. The batsmen get two runs.
17.5 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, On a length on leg, Jadeja looks to work it but it goes off his pads towards fine leg for a run. The umpire gives it as a leg bye.
17.6 : B Kumar to A Rayudu, Rayudu first thinks about the scoop but then the delivery is really full, he adjusts and jams it towards covers for a single. 10 from the over, they need a couple of more big ones.
18.1 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, Full on off, Rayudu drives it towards mid off. The batsmen get two runs.
0.0 : An appeal for a run out has been taken upstairs. Rayudu is the man in question. He seems relaxed though.
18.2 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, NOT OUT! That is why, he is well in! He dances down the track and hits it through mid-wicket. They take one and go for the second. The throw is at the wrong end, which is the bowler's end. Sharma collects it and throws it to the keeper who collects the ball and whips the bails off. An appeal and the umpire refers it upstairs. Replays roll in and they show that Rayudu is in. 4 from the first two balls.
Rayudu seems to be struggling a bit here. He ran the first one hard and found it difficult while coming back for the second run. Looks like a cramp, maybe some magic spray will do the trick!
18.3 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, This time it is only a single! Rayudu whips it on the bounce to deep square leg. A little to the left or to the right of the fielder and it might have been a boundary as it was hit with a lot of venom.
18.4 : S Sharma to R Jadeja, WIDE! The idea was right but the execution was not there. Jadeja dances down the track but Sharma tries to bowl it wide of off. He ends up bowling it too wide and it has been wided.
S Sharma to R Jadeja, Full toss on middle, Jadeja heaves it over mid-wicket for a run.
18.5 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, A dot! Rayudu looks to be cheeky as he tries to play the reverse sweep. He misses.
18.6 : S Sharma to A Rayudu, Top class bowling! Just the single on the last ball and just the 8 from the over. Another yorker which Rayudu tries to jam out but fails to. The ball hits his bat's inside edge and then onto his pads. It rolls towards the leg side for a run.
19.1 : B Kumar to A Rayudu, A low full toss, Rayudu looks to play the sweep shot but does not hit it off the middle. It goes towards square leg. Only a single taken.
19.2 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, Lovely bowling! A yorker outside off, all Jadeja can do is jam it out towards long off for a single.
19.3 : B Kumar to A Rayudu, Another extremely full ball, difficult for Rayudu to get under. He hits it down to long on for a run. Just three from the first three.
19.4 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, Three from the first 4 now. Short and wide outside off, Jadeja feels it is a wide and hence leaves it. The umpire does not feel so.
Some issue here... Jadeja after missing this bouncer has asked the umpire whether the previous delivery was called as 'one for the over'! In which case, this should have been a wide or a no ball. The umpires though are unmoved and the 5th ball will be counted as a dot as well!
19.5 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, Another dot! Lovely stuff! Short again on middle, Jadeja goes for the pull but once again misses.
19.6 : B Kumar to R Jadeja, Lovely fielding! Just two runs on the last ball and just 5 from the last over. Jadeja finally gets one right off the middle. He hits it wide of long on. Warner makes good ground to his left, dives and saves two for his side. CHENNAI END WITH 132!
Excellent comeback from Hyderabad. 80 off the first 10 but only 52 have come off the last 10. They have managed to pull things back and will be the happier of the two sides at the break. After a solid opening partnership between Watson and du Plessis, Chennai struggled big time and kept losing wickets at regular interval. Apart from Rayudu, Watson and Faf the rest hardly scored at run a ball. Ambati Rayudu stayed till the end but struggled for timing through out. In the end, after a solid start,
As for Hyderabad's bowling, Rashid Khan was the star with the ball and gave away just 17 off his 4 picking up 2. Apart from Shahabaz Nadeem, who went for 24 off his 2, the rest of the bowlers were economical and bowled in the right areas and will feel they have done their job heading into the break.
Rashid Khan is caught down for a chat. He informs us that the wicket is a new one which they have not played on before but it was a good one for bowling with some bounce and turn. He mentions the plan was to bowl wicket to wicket and try to put pressure on the batsmen, inducing the wickets. He also smiles and laughs off when asked what was going on between him and Raina out in the middle saying it was all a friendly banter!
So 133 to get off 20. A look at the score card might make you feel it's Hyderabad's game but the pitch is a slow one and it has been difficult to score runs. Hyderabad's middle order has been a cause of concern. It will be interesting to see how they approach this chase. Chennai will need wickets as that's the only way they can win this game. Do join us for the second innings as the chase is not far away.
0.0 : We are back for the chase. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow are out in the middle for Hyderabad. Deepak Chahar has the new ball in his hand. Let's play!!!
0.1 : D Chahar to D Warner, Off the mark straightaway! A back of a length ball on the middle and leg stump line, tapped onto the leg side for a quick single by Warner.
0.2 : D Chahar to J Bairstow, FOUR! Off the mark in fashion is Bairstow! The away swinger but the line is wrong. Too straight, straying onto the pads, flicked away aerially but in the gap by Jonny. No stopping that one.
0.3 : D Chahar to J Bairstow, Good ball! An away swinger on a length outside off, Bairstow goes for the drive but gets a thick outside edge that runs down to third man for a single.
0.4 : D Chahar to D Warner, Hit uppishly over mid-wicket on purpose. A length ball on middle, Warner pulls it over deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs. That was not a good shot but it was a safe one.
0.5 : D Chahar to D Warner, Beaten! On a length outside off and moving away from the lefty, Warner looks to drive the ball but the movement on it makes the ball go past his outside edge. Good ball!
0.6 : D Chahar to D Warner, Pulled away wide of deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs. Karn in the deep cleans up and saves a couple for his team. 10 runs off the first over, Hyderabad are off to a good start!
Shardul Thakur to bowl from the other end.
1.1 : S Thakur to J Bairstow, FOUR! Magnificent shot! Hit into the pitch and above the head of the bowler. A length ball on middle, Bairstow drives it into the pitch and the ball goes over the head of the bowler before he could get his hands up to stop that one.
