0.0 : A proper run-fest in the first innings, to say the least. The English batters came on a mission and executed it nearly perfectly. Also, this is the joint-highest first-inning total at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. The West Indies mounted 218 in the T20 World Cup against Afghanistan earlier this year and England has matched that feat quite effectively with the bat.
England's innings began with typical fireworks as Will Jacks and Phil Salt unleashed their aerial assault, making full use of the fielding restrictions. Though Jacks fell in the final ball of the powerplay while attempting another attacking stroke, England had already raced to 63 runs in those first six overs. At the other end, Salt continued his aggressive intent, pouncing on anything remotely loose and notched up a quickfire fifty.
The onslaught continued as Jos Buttler entered the fray, helping England maintain a blistering run rate of over 10 per over. The batting depth was on full display as each English batter made meaningful contributions, with young Jacob Bethell showcasing his talent through a well-crafted fifty in the latter stages with the tourists on course of a mammoth total with 63 runs scored in the last five overs.
The West Indies' bowling woes persisted as their pacers faced heavy punishment early on. Despite rotating their bowlers frequently, they struggled to make an impact, with their cause further hampered by subpar fielding. Having claimed just two wickets by the mid-innings mark, the hosts found themselves on the back foot. Their spin combination proved ineffective, offering predictable variations in both pace and length. In this batting exhibition, Alzarri Joseph stood out as the lone bright spot,
Jacob Bethell is down for a quick chat. He says that when he went out to bat, there wasn't much turn in the track and he was able to hit his way. Adds that in a short format like this, every run is crucial and you need those ones and twos in between the boundaries. On Phil Salt, he says that he played really well and the openers got them off to a great start. Ends by saying that the total on the board is a good one but will have to wait and watch if its good enough.
Well then, the first inning has flown by within a snap and to describe the batting ferocity, it can be summed up in one stat - just three overs in the entire innings escaped without a boundary or six. Though the batters did wobble against deliveries with pace taken off, the West Indies pacers barely explored this effective tactic. The West Indies batters now have a mountain to climb as 219 hasn't been chased down at this venue and given how their top order has faltered against the new ball, it a
... THE RUN CHASE ...

0.3 : John Turner to Evin Lewis, A loud call of 'No' from Shai Hope and rightly so. Just back of a length at the body, nudged away to the left of mid-wicket and Evin Lewis looks for one but scampers back as Sam Curran latches onto the ball in a flash.

2.6 : John Turner to Shai Hope, FOUR! 25 off the over and West Indies are in the ascendancy now! Hard length but wide outside off, Shai Hope goes after it and hammers it past covers for another boundary.
3.1 : Saqib Mahmood to Evin Lewis, The bowler seemed quite interested but that looked well high! Just back of a length on middle, that one came back in late and sharply too. Evin Lewis gets taken back and gets struck around the groin region. The physio is out as well.
0.0 : Evin Lewis has taken the blow right near the groin and is being attended by the physio. Meanwhile, the other players help themselves with some fluids.
3.2 : Saqib Mahmood to Evin Lewis, Slightly fuller now and straighter too, shaping it back into the left-hander. Lewis is late of the flick and gets it off the pads onto the leg side for a leg bye.
3.3 : Saqib Mahmood to Shai Hope, FOUR LEG BYES! A touch too straight and pays the price. Good length, darted down leg, Shai Hope fails to get a bat on it and the ball clips the pads before rolling away down to fine leg for four bonus runs.
3.4 : Saqib Mahmood to Shai Hope, FOUR! Good, aggressive intent from Hope.

0.0 : Drinks break! West Indies were hardly getting going in the last 3 games but finally, the opening pair has delivered and how! This has been an unreal display of power-hitting this far and the back of the chase is absolutely broken. With the required rate already under 8 runs an over, this should be a cake walk from here. England though will know that wickets in a heap could change things pretty quickly. Also, Nicholas Pooran walks out to bat now.
Rovman Powell is in next.

13.3 : Rehan Ahmed to Sherfane Rutherford, Flat and full around off, Sherfane Rutherford watchfully blocks it to the off side.
0.0 : Sherfane Rutherford is the new batter in at number 6. Also, Liam Livingstone is being attended by the physio as he brushed his right knee off the turf. Oh dear, Livingstone is walking off the field. Fortunately, he is not limping and might as well be back on the field in some time.
13.4 : Rehan Ahmed to Sherfane Rutherford, SIX! Almost another catching opportunity but Rutherford just gets enough on it. Rehan Ahmed dangles the carrot again with a floater on middle, Rutherford gets down and looks to slog but ends up getting a top edge down to long on and the ball sails over the fence for a six.
0.0 : Rutherford is down on the ground as soon as he strikes that six. He is being helped by Rovman Powell with some stretches and now, the physio runs out to check him. He has pulled off his hamstring and looks in a bit of discomfort out there. Also, the two umpires converge and have called for the change of ball as this one seems to have lost its seam completely. The fourth umpire is out with a bag of balls. Rutherford is now ready to continue and the ball has been exchanged as well.

17.2 : Sam Curran to Sherfane Rutherford, IN THE AIR...LANDS SAFE! Sam Curran hits the deck hard, outside off. It skids through and comes off very quickly at the batter. Rutherford is a bit late to execute the pull shot but does go through and ends up slicing it off the willow. It swirls up in the night sky for a long, long time over mid on. Four fielders including Jos Buttler converge to take the catch but it lands with pin-point precision in the no-man's land. A single taken.

A juicy full toss from Dan Mousley, on the body, Sherfane Rutherford stays inside the crease, waits for the ball to arrive and smokes it out of the park behind deep mid-wicket for a monstrous six.
0.0 : Pheww! That got much closer than it should have but Sherfane Rutherford has made sure that West Indies do get that consolation win and it is also the highest successful run chase at this venue and a sensational one at that as well.
The standout for the Windies was that opening stand of 136 runs as both Shai Hope and Evin Lewis struck the ball with disdain and brought up a couple of fifties as well. However, the highly-rated duo of Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer flopped once again and that is a real concern for the hosts. Another positive was the knock skipper Rovman Powell played and he is really starting to handle the pressure in that middle order but he couldn't see them through as it was a shaky Rutherford who
England began as well as one could with just 5 runs off the first two overs including a maiden. However, soon enough, their bowlers were treated to a barrage of boundaries with Liam Livingstone bearing the brunt the most as he went for 30 in his first over. Then came the over from Rehan Ahmed that gave England a lifeline as three wickets fell in three consecutive deliveries but they were still up against it. Saqib Mahmood had another fine game but England missed his wickets up top but they st
Earlier in the day, Rovman Powell finally won the toss and got his wish of bowling first but things seemed to be going downhill right from the start as Phil Salt and Will Jacks launched an onslaught in the first 5 overs. West Indies did pick up timely wickets to get back into the game but the top order had done its job and then Jacob Bethell made a fine 62 to ensure England got to 200 runs and then some. Alzarri Joseph was the standout bowler for the hosts but Gudakesh Motie too made a f
The presentation ceremony...
Shai Hope is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stellar knock. Shai Hope says they failed to assess conditions in the previous matches an  says they just tried to understand the situation well this time around and stayed on the top in the powerplay. Mentions that he just tries to do what the team requires at the particular moment. On being asked about his preferential position to bat, he says he is flexible enough to bat at any position his team needs.
Jos Buttler, the captain of England says that it was an excellent wicket and they got off to a fine start and needed at least 220 on the board. Adds that the opposition batted really well and they had to make changes to the field positions and force them to do something different. On Jamie Overton, he says that they are just trying to manage his workload and hence he could not bowl today. On Rehan Ahmed, Buttler says that leg-spinners are like gold dust in this format and was happy with how he
Rovman Powell, the captain of West Indies says that the guys were more committed in this game. Says they try to play their best combination and also says that they were forced to use only five bowlers in this game. He says that Alzarri Joseph is a spearhead of their bowlers and also states that the others need to reach his standards. Ends by saying that there's still a lot to play for and they just want to play for the people of St Lucia who come out in huge numbers to support them.
Right then, we are done with the 4th T20I and West Indies do have a win on the board. But there's still one more game before this tour rounds up. The 5th and final T20I will be played right here in Gros Islet and within 24 hours as well. That game will begin at 8 pm GMT on Sunday, 17 November but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Cheers!
