0.0 : After an upset in the T20I World Cup, the home side really turned a corner and caught the visitors off-guard in their first encounter of the series. Their bowlers were on song and Jason Holder did not shy back, he returned with a four-wicket haul. It was King who took his side over the line with a composed knock along with Pooran. The hosts would hope to extend their winning run and continue the good work. Stay tuned for toss and further updates. |
... MATCH DAY ... |
Hello and a warm welcome to the second T20I between West Indies and England. Well, this series has started off on a really good note for the hosts. They have taken a 1-nil lead and would hope to continue their good work. England, on the flip side, were no where near their potential. They really need to get accustomed to the away conditions before it gets too late. We are surely in for yet another treat. |
England were in all sorts of trouble after being asked to bat first. The conditions took them by surprise and were teetering at 29/5. It was a late effort by Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid which made sure to take the score above 100. England were listless across all departments. They surely need to pull their socks up. Can England execute their plans better in this game and level the series? |
TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of West Indies. They have opted to BOWL first. |
England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Tom Banton, James Vince, Moeen Ali, Eoin Morgan (C), Sam Billings (WK), Chris Jordan, Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Reece Topley (In for Tymal Mills). |
Kieron Pollard, the West Indies skipper, is in for a chat. He says he is hoping for the same start as the last game but they are playing on a new pitch and they are not sure what it will do and hence, they will have an idea of it. Informs they are playing the same team, they have done and are rearing to go again. Mentions consistency is what they are for and that is what will be key. |
Eoin Morgan, the England skipper, is in for a chat. He says they will try to adapt to conditions better and negate things which they failed to in the first game. Adds that Liam Livingstone is still unavailable. |
West Indies (Unchanged playing XI) - Shai Hope (WK), Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard (C), Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Akeal Hosein, Sheldon Cottrell. |
PITCH REPORT -Â Mark Butcher says this wicket looks a little bit of the old Barbados wicket. Adds it has got sheen on it and seems like it would skid through and the England batters should prefer this one than the last wicket. Ends by saying there should be runs on this wicket. |
We are set for the clash. The West Indies players stride out to the middle. Followed by Jason Roy and Tom Banton who walk out to open for England. Before the action begins both the teams take the knee to show their support for the 'Black Lives Matter' movement. Sheldon Cottrell to steam in with the new ball. |

5.2 : Fabian Allen to Tom Banton, OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Tom Banton holes out after getting off to a good start. Fabian Allen draws the first blood. 9.6 : DRINKS! Steady from England so far! They started off aggressively but Windies have done well to pull things back. The nature of the surface is such though it is not easy to hit right from the word go. England do have a platform and if they can get to the 155-run mark, it could be a good score. Windies on the other hand, would have been in a lot better position had they held onto their catches. They are still, one can say, slightly ahead in the game but another wicket or two will put them in grea |

11.4 : Jason Holder to Moeen Ali, FOUR! Up and over! Edgy but England won't care! Moeen walks across and looks for the leg side. Holder bowls a slower one outside off. Ali swings, it goes off the top edge, over the keeper and into the third man fence. |

12.2 : Romario Shepherd to Jason Roy, OUT! TAKEN! Finally, West Indies manage to hold onto one and it is their skipper who does so, Kieron Pollard! Roy is unhappy with himself as he knwos that was in the slot. He falls 5 short of a half ton! Fuller and outside off, a slower one. Roy drags it towards long on. He hits it way too flat and the fielder there takes it easily. Can West Indies now build from here? Roy has probably done his job but his side would have loved for him to stay there for longe |

Is that out? The soft signal is out as the umpire takes it upstairs to confirm if it is a bump ball. The replays show the ball is coming off the blade and the final decision is OUT. |
13.5 : Eoin Morgan comes in at number 6. |
Kieron Pollard to Moeen Ali, OUT! TAKEN! That is not a bump ball and Moeen Ali has to walk back! Both the set batters are back in the hut and West Indies have a real chance to keep England under the 160-run mark! This is full and outside off, Ali looks to carve it over point, this though goes straight into the hands of Sheldon Cottrell at short third man. Windies are celebrating but Moeen Ali stands his ground. It is taken upstairs with the soft signal being OUT! Replays show that it has n |
13.6 : Kieron Pollard to Eoin Morgan, Morgan is off the mark! On off, he guides it to point for one. |

19.6 : Jason Holder to Saqib Mahmood, Back of a length, on leg. Mahmood dabs it to point for a single. ENGLAND END THEIR INNINGS AT 171/8. |
Quite a decent performance with the bat by England, surely a lot better than the last game. Not sure if they have got a score which could be enough but they certainly have a total above the average score here. |
It was the openers who got things going for them! However, they then lost two quick wickets but Moeen Ali and Jason Roy put on a fifty-run stand in quick time. When they were batting, 180 looked possible but both fell in quick succession. England then were pulled back and it seemed like, they would struggle to cross the 160-run mark. Jordan though played yet another decent cameo and some lusty blow from the lower-order has seen them breach the 170-run mark. |
The Windies will not be pleased with their effort with the ball and in the field! They were not consistent with their lines and lengths and also did completely opposite to what they did in the first game. The fielding was also not upto the mark, had they held onto all their catches, maybe England would have ended with below 150. All of the bowlers got a wicket at least but Allen and Holder were probably the pick. |
Now then, the target is a stiff one. England will back themselves to defend this as they have a decent bowling attack. West Indies on the other hand, do have a strong batting line-up. The wicket is not a very bad one to bat on but the hosts will have to bat well. Stay tuned for the second essay. |

Reece Topley on the other hand, will be delighted, what a return into the side for him. He goes full, this time gets it to shape back in from middle. King looks to drive but misses. This one hits the back pad. A huge appeal and the finger is raised. King reviews straightaway. He maybe feels it is sliding down. The impact is umpire's cal |
0.3 : Reece Topley to Nicholas Pooran, BEATEN! More swing, fuller and outside off, shapes away. Pooran looks to drive but is beaten. |
0.2 : Review! Brandon King opts for the review for an lbw decision. The UltraEdge shows no bat is involved. The Ball Tracker shows it umpire's call on impact and the ball hitting the wickets. The on-field decision stays and King has to walk back now. |
