Launch Of Kharkopar Station: A new dawn for thousands of Ulwe residents

Kharkopar is the last station of the phase one of the Nerul-Belapur-Uran railway line. The Ramseth Thakur International Sports Complex is situated opposite to the railway station. Apart from connecting to the newly-developed Ulwe node, it also connects to Ghavan village, which had so far only access to state transport buses, with only one or two services per day.

The newly-developed node has two railway stations — Bamandongri and Targhar. People residing close to the Ulwe node can also get down at this station. It is located close to CIDCO’s Unnati housing project and Navi Mumbai Special Economic Zone. The station is also the centre point of the Ulwe node and the footfall is expected to be maximum in the Nerul-Belapur-Uran railway line. Commuters can take NMMT buses from this station to go inside the Ulwe node.

Phase one of Nerul-Belapur-Uran railway connects with the Panvel-CSMT line at Seawoods Darave Station. Commuters can change trains to go to either Panvel or Chhtrapti Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The station has direct access to Seawoods Central Grand mall, which is India’s first and largest Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) in Navi Mumbai. Spread across 40 acres, Seawoods Grand Central offers spacious, well-planned and customisable office spaces also.

It is believed that Targhar Station will be unique in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Apart from local suburban trains, it will also provide direct connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) with a sky train. In addition, it will also connect with the proposed Panvel-CSMT elevated corridor. One area of the Panvel-CSMT corridor will connect to the airport and it will similar to a Metro station.
