Bandra-Worli Sea Link's toll hiked to Rs 60

Motorists will be paying more toll fees starting from April 1 for a period of three years for a ride on Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL). The state government has hiked the toll rates for passenger vehicles from Rs 55 for a single trip to Rs 60.
 
Motorists traveling to and fro the sea link will have the option of shelling out discounted toll amount of Rs 90, which is Rs 30 less. Similarly, monthly passes for passenger cars will now be sold for Rs 3,000 that is Rs 250 more as it is being issued for Rs 2,750.
 
Toll tariff for other types of vehicles too has been increased accordingly in the latest notification issued by the state government.
 
The revised or increased toll charges will be levied to motorists till March 31, 2018, thereafter there will be another round of hike in toll amount.
 
The last toll revision had come into effect from April 1, 2012 and the BWSL was inaugurated back on June 30, 2009. Back in 2012 the toll was hiked from Rs 50 to Rs 55.
 
In 2014 January, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) had appointed Mumbai Entry Point Limited, who was the sole bidder for toll collection and maintenance of the iconic structure despite lower bid amount than the reserved amount set.
 
Last October, toll was increased at the five entry points – Dahisar, Mulund West, Mulund East, Airoli and Vashi – of Mumbai for all categories of vehicles. For light and sports utility vehicles the hike was from Rs 30 to Rs 35 and no provision for discounted return toll fee.
