Ration card that says Sonia is resident of Hingoli, Maha

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her family members are residents of Hingoli district of Maharashtra, if a ration card is believed to be true.

The ration card was obtained by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists who applied for it.

The MNS members gave details of family members in the application, and in two days they got a ration card carrying no. SP 934003.

In the card, the family head is Sonia Rajiv Gandhi and members are Rahul Rajiv Gandhi (son), Priyanka Robert Vadhera (daughter) and Robert Vadhera (son-in-law).

The revenue department, through a drive, is issuing ration cards to the citizens. This is a five-year programme and the tehsil officers are allegedly issuing ration cards to the unknown persons also, sources said.

The MNS activists including Sandesh Deshmukh, Devidas Kundarge, Vitthal Zade and Amardeep Deshmukh handed over the copies of the fake ration card and gave a memorandum to district collector Shaila Roy demanding suspension of the tehsildar for issuing such cards.

This is not the first incident that a bogus card has been issued in the names of famous personalities.

The authorities in Andhra Pradesh had issued a ration card in the name of Mahatma Gandhi along with his picture last month. Similarly, a ration card issued to one Laxmi from Vizianagaram district with a photo of tennis sensation Sania Mirza was detected in June.
