Scuffle at BJP meet in Jalgaon, Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan manhandled

A big scuffle broke out during a BJP campaign meeting at Amalner in Jalgaon. In the clash, minister Girish Mahajan along with former MLA BS Patil was manhandled and beaten up by activists. BJP district president Uday Wagh, who was also present in the meeting, was thrashed by the workers.

Irrigation minister Girish Mahajan and Sena minister Gulabrao Patil had come to Amalner for the campaign of BJP nominee Unmesh Patil in Jalgaon Lok Sabha constituency. The BJP's Jalgaon unit president Uday Wagh was angry with Girish Mahajan for denying ticket to his spouse Smita Wagh for Jalgaon seat.

Ranjeet Shinde, the social activist said that they showed black flags to Girish Mahajan for not releasing adequate fund for Padalsare irrigation project.

"We have been pursuing this project work with Mahajan for last five years. When the NCP-Congress government was there, former irrigation minister Ajit Pawar provided the adequate fund for this project. We were in a requirement of Rs 1,800 crore. And, we had hope that Girish Mahajan as an irrigation minister from our district would release the full fund for this dam. But the irony is that, he released only Rs 22 crore in last five years," Shinde said.

Shinde further said that therefore the people of Amalner, Parola and Dharangaon are very unhappy with the BJP government and particularly Girish Mahajan.

"The party campaign meeting, Uday Wagh barged with his wife Smita Wagh and asked questions to Mahajan on why his spouse was asked to withdraw the nominations. In the heated argument, Uday Wagh trashed the ex-BJP MLA DR BS Patil and manhandle the irrigation minister," said the person who was present during this scuffle. He said that Mahajan tried to control the crowd but it was out of his hand.
