The Central government will launch a portal called 'e-shram portal' for the people working in unorganised sectors to form a database that will keep all their information up to date. The portal is to be launched today, August 26.

Once the e-shram portal is launched, workers under the unorganised sector will be able to enjoy the benefits of all social security schemes provided by the government. Earlier on Tuesday (August 24), the Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav had launched the logo of e-shram portal.

The Central government aims to register thirty-eight crore workers of the unorganised sector under this program. Apart from construction workers, this includes migrant workers, street vendors and domestic workers.

After the launch of the e-shram portal, workers of the unorganized sector can register themselves for it. They will need their Aadhaar card number along with other necessary details like date of birth, hometown, mobile number and social category to register themselves. Once they are registered, they will be issued the e-shram card. The card will consist of twelve-digit numbers and the details of the workers on it. The whole purpose of this portal is to provide social security schemes of the government to people who otherwise cannot benefit from it. It's like one-card access to everything.
