Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) chief Shrikar Pardeshi has ordered the civic officials to speed up the ongoing road development work at the Dehu-Alandi road.

Pardeshi inspected the site last week. During the visit, Pardeshi had expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of the road work. He has instructed the civic staff and the contractors to complete it within the given deadline.

In an attempt to curb the traffic congestion on the road linking the temple towns of Dehu and Alandi, the civic administration had decided to widen the road in two phases. The civic administration had floated a Rs96 crore tender for the project, under which the road from Dehugaon to Moshi-Jadhavwadi will be developed in the first phase. In the second phase, the road from Moshi-Jadhavwadi to Alandigaon will be widened.

The Dehu-Alandi route has a length of nearly 14.77 km and the existing width of the road is 9 meter. After widening the road, the width will be 30 metres.

BRTS routes in municipal limits

PCMC is developing four BRTS routes in the municipal limits under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. These include the Nigdi-Dapodi stretch of the Pune-Mumbai highway, Aundh-Ravet Road, Kalewadi Phata-Dehu-Alandi Road and Wakad-Nashik Phata road.
