Manchester United who have seen their share of ups and down when it comes to managers have a new name added to the list. The team is considering approaching Gareth Southgate, the England manager for the position.

Following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, United brought in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the temporary manager until the end of the season. Solskjaer made an impressive start at Old Trafford having become the first United manager in history to win each of his first five games in charge. He could be made as the full-time manager if he ends this season on a high note.

However, the team has also targeted Mauricio Pochettino as the favourite contender to succeed at Old Trafford this summer.

However, Old Trafford chiefs are becoming increasingly concerned that Pochettino might continue his stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

United, who will be facing Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday have not made contact with Southgate at this stage, however, the England manager’s work and style of play have made him a candidate.

Southgate had taken England to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia last summer. They however lost to Croatia 2-1 in extra-time.

He also extended his contract with the national side in October. He will be leading the Three Lions to the 2022 World Cup as well.
