WWE Superstar Sting, who had a World Title match against Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions on Sunday night, has suffered a legitimate injury, reports Dave Meltzer.

Champion Seth Rollins was being beaten down by Sting in the corner with 10-count punches. However, Rollins reversed the move and slammed Sting into the turnbuckle. It was then that the injury occured, report the dirtsheets.

Sting immediately collapsed in a curious manner and had to be attended by WWE doctors before the match could continue. But the match ended quickly with Rollins surviving a Scorpion Deathlock, then countering another Scorpion Deathlock into a roll up for the win. The Deathlock is Sting's finishing move.

Though WWE fans had earlier believed the injury may be kayfabe (fake), WWE.com has confirmed that it is legitimate. What's more, it could be life threatening, says Meltzer.

The 56-year-old Sting took many hard falls in the match, going through the Spanish announce table and diving off the top rope to the outside onto Rollins. The nature of the match thus may have contributed to Sting's injury. Further details are awaited, but things look bad for now.
