WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins out for 6-9 months with serious injury

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins suffered a serious injury during a match against Kane at a live event in Dublin, Ireland. 

According to Cagesideseats, Philly.com and other professional wrestling websites, Seth Rollins suffered a torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus during the match with Kane, and is slated to be out for 6 to 9 months.

This means that he will miss Wrestlemania 32, WWE's marquee event of the year. Rollins, who has been the WWE World Champion since Wrestlemania 31 and arguably the top star in the industry right now, has been forced to relinquish his world title.

Rollins was supposed to have a title match with Roman Reigns, who won the Royal Rumble in January and was involved in the title bout with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31. The Rollins-Reigns title match was supposed to take place at Survivor Series later this month. Due to the grievous injury to Rollins however, a tournament will be held at Survivor Series to determine the champion. The details of the tournament have not been released. 

But now surely, Roman Reigns becomes the favourite to win the tournament. A title run up to Wrestlemania 32 would test his drawing power and popularity. The other option is Sheamus, the Money in the Bank briefcase winner who can be made to spring a surprise cash-in.

Or, WWE could go for a twist and decide to put the title on someone like Bray Wyatt, who most adult fans believe deserves a title run. The same goes for Dolph Ziggler.

Nevertheless, this is a hard time for WWE. Seth Rollins with his work ethic, excellent mic skills and terrific in-ring ability was a sure draw. With Randy Orton also injured and John Cena taking a break, WWE will be forced to look for alternative top stars. However, it might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
