In Pics: Ekta Kapoor becomes a mother via surrogacy after 7 year-long wait, names son Ravie after father Jeetendra

The country woke up this morning to the good news of Ekta Kapoor turning a mother. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the baby boy was born on January 27 via surrogacy and is keeping healthy. The Kapoors are planning to take the baby home sometime soon and their residence is all decked up for his grand welcome.

A sourcetold IndianExpress.com, “Ekta was keenly involved in the entire process. She would take constant updates about the mother and baby’s health at every stage from the doctor. It was her pure determination to become a mother that made this happen.”

Interestingly, a couple of years back, Ekta Kapoor’s brother and actor Tusshar Kapoor also became a father via surrogacy. Ekta is very close to her nephew Lakkshya and often posts pictures with him on social media.

“I’m excited to announce the arrival of my nephew, a baby boy named Ravie, born last week through IVF and surrogacy.  Ekta is a very family oriented person and has been like a mother to my son Laksshya! This marks the beginning of a new phase in her life, an exciting time of completeness and fulfilment! God bless Ravie with a life of peace, happiness & good health,” Tusshar told ZoomTV in a statement.

In a special post, shared on Twitter, Ekta revealed that she has named her son Ravie Kapoor, after her father and veteran actor Jeetendra. His original name was Ravi Kapoor, before he made his Bollywood debut.

According to a report in Spotboye.com, Ekta Kapoor consulted popular atrologer-numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani before finalising her son's name. 

"One more Kapoor kid on the block. Our oldest client and now like my sister, Ekta has become a proud mom. I will not reveal the name of her newborn son; she shall announce it shortly. Our little contribution- an 'E' to the first name," Jumaani told the portal. 

“By God’s grace, I have seen many successes in my life, but nothing beats the feeling of this beautiful soul being added in my world. I cannot even begin to express how happy my baby’s birth has made me. Everything in life doesn’t go the way you want it to but there are always solutions to those hiccups. I found mine and today I feel immensely blessed to become a parent. It is an emotional moment for me and my family and I can’t wait to begin this new journey of being a mother,” she posted on social media.

Ekta tried other methods before opting for surrogacy. Her doctor told Hindustan Times, “Ekta Kapooor came to me some years back to become a mother. We tried to help her get pregnant with multiple cycles of IUI (Intrauterine insemination) and also multiple cycles of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). But we were unsuccessful. Hence we had to take help of the technique of surrogacy which we performed 9 months back at our Bloom Ivf centre . Nine months later she had achieved success with the birth of a child on Sunday.”

As soon as the news came out on Thursday, celebrities and fans took to Twitter to wish Ekta for the new chapter in her life.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who has worked with Ekta Kapoor for the web-series Bose - Dead/Alive, congratulated the new mother saying, "Many congratulations and lots of love dearest Ekta Kapoor. Welcome to parenthood and joy."

Ekta Kapoor's close friend filmmaker Sanjay Gupta also sent out best wishes to the TV queen: "And this is the most heartening news this morning. Many congratulations Ekta. Welcome to the world and joy of parenting. God bless your baby with good health and lots of masti," he wrote in a tweet.

Nimrat Kaur, who starred in Ekta Kapoor's web-series The Test Case, also congratulated the new mom. "Huge congratulations Ekta on this brand new chapter in your life...wishing you all the love and the most amazing adventures ever !!"
