Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's luxurious wedding journey, which began in March, was a spectacular and star-studded event. The celebrations kicked off with pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar, continued with a lavish four-day European cruise, and culminated in at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
The wedding festivities have been nothing short of opulent, featuring extravagant outfits and stunning jewelry. The Ambani wedding is a true display of luxury and gemology, highlighted by the groom, Anant Ambani, wearing a lion-shaped brooch adorned with a massive 50-carat diamond during the pre-wedding events in Jamnagar.
This unique brooch, crafted by jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz, featured intricate yellow diamonds forming the lion’s body and mane, with emeralds for the eyes, symbolising spiritual healing. The 50-carat diamond hanging from the lion’s mouth was the centerpiece. In an interview with Forbes, Schwartz emphasized the meticulous detail that went into the design, with the yellow diamonds varying in shades to add texture to the lion’s mane. The lion sat on a base of white diamonds with an Asscher cut, representing groundedness and humility.
The wedding celebrations were deeply rooted in cultural traditions, evident in the attire, which showcased Indian craftsmanship or held personal significance. Anant Ambani's brooch symbolized his love for animals, reflecting his establishment of the Vantara animal rehabilitation center. The brooch also represented the couple’s love for each other, with the lion’s characteristics of a loving heart and strong determination mirroring the groom's traits.
Iterestingly, the cost of the brooch isn't known, however, going by its magnificence, it is certainly worth many many crores.
Designer Lorraine Schwartz shared behind-the-scenes pictures of the brooch’s creation on social media. She captioned, “So excited for the upcoming wedding of this amazing couple, Radhika & Anant. I especially enjoyed working on the vivid yellow diamond lion brooch for Anant at their pre-wedding celebration in Jamnagar. It was spectacular, and their love for the animals at their incredible animal sanctuary #Vantara was inspiring. I was truly in awe! It was a once in a lifetime experience.”
