Throughout Akbar's reign, there have been wealthy individuals who were well-known for their affluence. We will tell you today about the aristocracy of Akbar's time. 
 Virji Vora was a Suratian businessman, though he was born in 1590.

Even the Mughals themselves used to borrow money from Virji Vora because of his immense wealth. He engaged in wholesale trading as well as loan provision. Spices, bullion, coral, ivory, and lead were among the commodities he traded. In one such immense wealth incident, Virji purchased the whole supply of pepper that the Dutch had brought to Surat. The English factory in Surat made the decision to buy ten thousand pounds' worth of pepper from Virji at a price of sixteen mahmudis per maund.Virji demanded 16.25 per maund, asking them to sell him 25 chests of coral at a price below market value. Virji owned all the pepper stock in the city. Virji bought all the pepper from the South Indian merchants when they brought a new supply to Surat. After that, the English sent an agent to purchase pepper from the Deccan, but Virji instructed his agents to purchase the pepper stock at a price that was marginally higher than what the English were willing to pay. 

 Virji Vora and Mulla Abdul Ghafoor were both prominent ship traders. Abdul Ghafoor hailed from Surat as well. The unique aspect is that Abdul Ghafoor was a Surat native as well. He is regarded as one of the wealthiest businessmen of his era as well.The Jagat Seth family, a Bengali merchant, banker, and lender family, also arose in the 17th century.
