Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, delivered a moving speech on the significance of Kanyadaan at the wedding of her younger son, Anant Ambani, and Radhika Merchant. Her heartfelt words touched the hearts of many, leaving guests visibly emotional.

Nita Ambani described Kanyadaan as the "noblest of all acts" in Indian culture. She expressed that no parents can truly "give away their daughters."  She highlighted that a daughter is not a possession to be transferred but a blessing to be cherished and treasured. "She is the source of happiness, love, and light that she will now share with her new family," Nita Ambani remarked.

Highlighting the esteemed position of women in Indian spiritual and cultural traditions, she mentioned that daughters are considered auspicious and grace with a higher divine power. "Our scriptures teach us where there are daughters, there is auspiciousness. Daughters have a higher God-given power. Our daughters make houses feel like heaven," she added.

She further elaborated on the foundation of equality that Indian weddings rest upon. "An Indian wedding is built on perfect equality between the groom and the bride, as well as between their families. The true cultural significance of Kanyadaan is that the bride's parents accept the groom as their son and entrust his family with their precious daughter," she explained.

Reflecting on her personal experiences, Nita Ambani added, "As a daughter myself, as a mother of a daughter, and as a mother-in-law, I understand that no parents can ever truly give away their daughters." She described daughters as life’s greatest blessings and joys, comparing them to manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, who bring abundance and auspiciousness to homes from the moment they are born. "They are the purest parts of our souls, intertwined with our very being," she said.

The wedding, which took place on July 12, was a lavish affair attended by numerous Bollywood celebrities, socialites Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, and several Indian politicians. The emotional depth of Nita Ambani's words added a profound touch to the already grand celebration, making it a memorable event for all who were present.
