Nutrients that help to boost red blood cell count

Low red blood cell count increases the risk of anaemia, the body needs several essential vitamins and nutrients to fulfil the production of RBCs 

Iron

The essential element in increasing red blood cells, iron is present in spinach, legumes, broccoli, watermelon etc.

Copper

Copper helps to form haemoglobin, which increases the body's red blood cell count. It is found in cashews, kale, potato, dark chocolates, peanuts etc

Folate.

An essential element for the formation of red blood cells, deficiency of folate causes anaemia and megaloblasts. Folate-rich foods are lettuce, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower etc

Vitamin A (Retinol)

It helps the body use iron efficiently, ultimately leading to increased blood count. Vitamin A is found in carrots, cheese, eggs, milk, papaya etc

Vitamin B6

A water-soluble vitamin that helps the body make red blood cells. Vitamin B6-rich foods are bananas, chicken breast, beans, peas, soy products, nuts and seeds.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

It helps the body to absorb more iron which leads to an increase in red blood cell count. Vitamin C is found in Oranges, lemons, strawberries, broccoli, tomatoes, and blackberries.

Vitamin E.

Vitamin E supports the production of red blood cells in the body. Vitamin E-rich foods are almonds, peanut butter, fish, soybean oil, sunflower seeds,kiwi etc. 

Low RBC count symptoms may include weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches, irritability, loss of appetite, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet.
