Indian Finance Minster Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Interim Budget 2024-25 today (February 1, 2024). Since July 2019, FM Sitharaman has presented five complete budgets. Here are the Finance Minsters who have a record of presenting the most budgets over the years.
Moraji Desai, as a finance minster, holds the record for most budget presentations. He has presented five annual budgets and one interim budget between (1959-1964).Whereas, he also achieved the feat of presenting 10 budgets- the maximum by any finance minister. FM Sitharaman is set to equal Desai's record of presenting six budgets in a row.
P. Chidambaram presented nine Union Budgets during his career as Finance Minister.
Pranab Mukherjee has presented eight budgets when he served as the finance minister of India.
Yashwant Sinha, as a finance minister has presented seven budgets.
Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has presented the budget six times during his term as finance minister.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, Arun Jaitley had served as finance minister who presented five budgets in a row.
