The sight of the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) is truly mesmerising.

A surreal green haze fills the horizon unexpectedly.

People travel miles to catch a glimpse of the mesmerising Northern lights.

Here are some places in India and other parts of the world to view Northern lights.

Iceland: The Nothern lights can be viewed from every corner of Iceland. Although you might have to find a dark area, away from city lights which is not difficult.

Finland: One of the easiest places to see the northern lights in Finland. Added with the experience of reindeer slide rides, snowmobile drives and more can turn it into an experience of a lifetime.

Norway: There are many spots in Norway for the viewing of Northern lights but the best place is Tromso in Northern Norway.

Yukon, Canada: Canada’s Northwestern province, Yukon, is also among its least populated. From the capital Whitehorse, which is closer to the province’s Southern border, to the expanse of outdoors stretching Northwards, it is possible to view magnificent auroral activity for almost eight months– from August to April.

Ladakh: Though India is far too south for any Northern Lights visibility, a related phenomenon was seen in the mountains of Ladakh for the first time in recorded history a few years ago when a rare and red band of the auroral arc was seen. This was Witnessed at Hanle, which is at an altitude of 5290 mts, where the Indian Astronomical Observatory is located.
