8 common foods that can cause allergies

Food allergies are triggered when your body mistakes harmless food for something that could make you sick, and activates your immune system to shield you. Here are some common foods that can cause allergies, and their symptoms.

An egg allergy is common, especially among kids. The major proteins that cause an allergic reaction to eggs are ovomucoid, ovalbumin, and ovotransferrin.

Allergy to fish is also quite common. Most people react to the protein allergen in fish called parvalbumin. Its symptoms include a skin rash.

This is one of the most common food allergies. The symptoms of milk allergy include hives, diarrhoea, and vomiting.

The nuts most likely to trigger allergies include cashews, pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and Brazil nuts. Signs of nuts allergy can include hives, vomiting, low blood pressure, or difficulty swallowing.

Peanuts are also among the most common causes of food allergy, which lasts lifelong. The symptoms include stomach problems, weak pulse, swelling, hives, dizziness, etc.
