1. Digestive issues: Chia seeds contain a lot of fibers which aid digestive health. However, too much of fiber can lead to indigestion. 

2. Dehydration: Chia seeds absorb water from the body. One must consume plenty of fluids to prevent water loss. 

3. Allergic reactions: Chia seeds may turn out to be allergic to some people. It may cause itching or breathing issues. 

4. Weight gain: Chia seeds contain fats and calories. It is important to consume them in moderation. 

5. Hampering medicine effectiveness: Consuming chia seeds may interfere with the working of some medicines. Consult your doctor before including it in your diet.  

6. Risk of suffocation: Chia seeds are often hard to swallow after being soaked in water. It may lead to the risk of suffocation in children or people with swallowing issues.
