Tips to protect tulsi plant from dying in winter

Deepika Shakya

Place your tulsi plant in a sheltered area, away from harsh winds, to shield it from cold.

Choose a Sheltered Spot

While it's important not to let the soil dry out completely, avoid overwatering. Water sparingly to prevent root rot.

Water Moderately

Trim back any dead or damaged branches to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's overall health.

Trim Wisely

Tulsi is sensitive to frost, so bring your plant indoors or cover it with a cloth or blanket on frosty nights.

Avoid Frost Exposure

Ensure your tulsi gets enough sunlight during the day, even in winter. Place it in a sunny spot to promote photosynthesis.

Provide Adequate Sunlight

Opt for well-draining soil to prevent waterlogging, which can harm the roots during the colder months.

Use Well-Draining Soil

Keep an eye out for pests that might thrive in winter.

Watch for Pests

If the weather is exceptionally harsh, consider bringing your tulsi plant indoors to a location with sufficient light and warmth.
