Flour holds a crucial place in Indian households, especially for making chapatis, a staple in the diet, consumed twice daily for essential carbohydrates and energy.

Various types of flours, including blends with cereals and grains, contribute to a diverse and nutritionally rich diet in Indian cuisine.

Jowar (Sorghum)

Jowar (Sorghum) flour, a gluten-free option, is rich in dietary fiber, iron, calcium, and vitamins B and C, promoting digestion, blood sugar control, and heart health. Combining it with wheat adds nutritional value.

Bajra

Bajra flour, a common gluten-free choice, is high in protein, fiber, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus. It aids in weight loss and prevents overeating, especially when combined with wheat.

Ragi (Finger Millet)

Ragi (Finger Millet) flour, another gluten-free option, is rich in amino acids and fiber. It reduces appetite, aids in weight loss, improves digestion, and boosts energy. A recommended blend is ¼ cup of ragi with ¾ cup of wheat.

Almond Flour

Almond flour is an ideal choice for weight loss, being low in carbohydrates and high in proteins. It also contains calcium, magnesium, and vitamin E. Being gluten-free with minimal phytic acid, it ensures effective nutrient absorption.

Gram (Besan)

Gram (Besan) flour is essential for maintaining blood glucose levels, promoting heart health, and exhibiting anti-cancer properties. Combining ⅔ cup of gram flour with wheat yields positive results.

Kuttu (Buckwheat)

Kuttu (Buckwheat) flour is beneficial for digestion and clear skin. Commonly used during Navratri, it is rich in protein and antioxidants, low in calories, and has a low glycemic index, aiding in weight loss.

Singhara (Water Chestnut)

Singhara (Water Chestnut) flour, a rich antioxidant, possesses antibacterial, antiviral, and anticancer properties. It strengthens the stomach and spleen, alleviating issues like insomnia and fatigue, particularly associated with a weak spleen.  Disclaimer: This content including advice provides generic information only.
