Head top-scored for his side in a 241-run chase against India on Sunday, with a 120-ball 137.

The 29-year-old southpaw successfully navigated a daunting initial onslaught from India's formidable bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. He became just the second batsman, following in the footsteps of Aravinda, to score a century in a World Cup final while chasing.

Head also became the sixth Australian to win a Player of the Match in an ODI World Cup final.
