6 breathtaking images of outer Space shared by NASA

The Small Magellanic Cloud, or SMC, is a small galaxy about 200,000 light-years way that orbits our own Milky Way spiral galaxy.

This stunning image of the Horsehead Nebula, in the constellation Orion, was captured by a telescope at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona.

Caroline's rose, officially known NGC 7789,is an open cluster in Cassiopeia that was discovered by astronomer and comet-hunter Caroline Herschel in 1783. 

Comet pons brooks is one of the brightest known periodic comets, reaching an absolute visual magnitude of about 5 in its approach to perihelion.

Squid Nebula cataloged also known as the Flying Bat Nebula, was discovered in 2011 by French astro-imager Nicolas Outters. It is nearly 50 light-years away from earth.
