Here are seven stunning images of the sun captured by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

1. Captured on June 20, 2013, this image shows the bright light of a solar flare on the left side of the sun and an eruption of solar material shooting through the sun’s atmosphere.

2. Captured by NASA, this is a view of the dark region seen on the face of the sun at the end of March 2013 is a coronal hole just above and to the right of the middle of the picture.

3. The picture, taken on February 24, 2015, shows when the Sun blew out a coronal mass ejection along with part of a solar filament over a three-hour period.

4. This composite image of the Sun includes high-energy X-ray data shown in blue; lower energy X-ray data shown in green; and ultraviolet lights depicted in red.

5. Captured on May 9, 2016, the picture shows when mercury passed directly between the Sun and Earth, making a transit of the Sun

6. The illustration shows a CME blasting off the Sun’s surface in the direction of Ea CME blast and subsequent impact at Earth.

7. Captured on December 6, 2010, the picture shows a very long solar filament that had been snaking around the Sun erupted with a flourish.
