Here are some beautiful images of the moon captured by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

1. Captured by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), this is a unique view of Earth from the spacecraft's vantage point in orbit around the moon.

2. This is when Astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin posed for a photograph beside the U.S. flag during an Apollo 11 extravehicular activity (EVA) on the lunar surface.

3. The Sun’s corona, only visible during the total eclipse, is shown as a crown of white flares from the surface.

4. During the first Apollo 17 extravehicular activity (EVA) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site, scientist-astronaut Harrison H. Schmitt, lunar module pilot, collects lunar rake samples at Station 1.

5. Captured by  NASA, the picture is of a close-up view of an astronaut's bootprint in the lunar soil.

6. Captured by NASA's LRO, the picture shows wrinkle ridges in a region of the Moon called Mare Frigoris, which add to evidence that the Moon has an actively changing surface.

 7. The picture, taken on August 21, 2017,  shows the moon passing in front of the Sun during a total solar eclipse.
