People often wonder who owns the Taj Mahal or who is responsible for its maintenance.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is currently in charge of the Taj Mahal's upkeep. ASI serves as the policy maker and caretaker of the monument.

ASI has claimed its authority over the Taj Mahal as the organization responsible for its care.

According to a 2020 media report, ASI earned 960 million rupees in one year from the Taj Mahal.

 ASI operates under the Ministry of Culture.
