Why did Duryodhan's wife Bhanumati marry Arjuna?

The rivalry between the Kauravas and the Pandavas was the cause of the Mahabharata war.

The reason for this war was Duryodhana and his maternal uncle Shakuni seized the Pandavas throne in gambling and dismembered Draupadi in a court filled with evil spirits.

Pandavas retaliated by killing Kauravas in the Mahabharata war, with most warriors killed by Arjun's arrows.

However, are you aware that Arjun, even after destroying the Kauravas, was married to Duryodhana's wife, Bhanumati, after the Mahabharata war?

Bhanumati, the daughter of King Chitrangada of Kalinga, was a beautiful woman of her time. A saying suggests her marriage with Arjun, but Arjun couldn't attend swayamvar. Some books suggest that Bhanumati loved Arjun.

Duryodhana, who had arrived at Bhanumati's swayamvara, and with the help of Karna, he had kidnapped Bhanumati against her wishes. Along with Bhanumati, her friend Supriya was also kidnapped by Karna.

Duryodhana and Bhanumati married in Hastinapur, with Karna marrying Supriya in the same pavilion. They had two children, Lakshman and Lakshmana.

Bhanumati, who prevented Duryodhana from fighting in the Mahabharata war, was respected by the Pandavas after his death. Despite living in Hastinapur, she was uncertain about her future, leading her to unite the Kauravas and Pandavas families.

Bhanumati, advised by Lord Krishna, proposed to Arjun to marry her for the safety of his two children. Bhanumati married Arjun for the second time, aiming to prevent future war between Kauravas and Pandavas and maintain peace.
