Discovered in the Gulf of Panama in the 16th century, the La Peregrina pearl has adorned royalty for centuries.

Initially presented to King Philip II of Spain, it has been part of the Spanish crown jewels and owned by European monarchs.

Richard Burton bought the pearl for Elizabeth Taylor in 1969, who had it redesigned into a custom necklace by Cartier.

The Cartier necklace features the La Peregrina pearl, surrounded by diamonds, rubies, and cultured pearls, showcasing luxurious design.

In 2011, the necklace was auctioned by Christie's in New York for $11.8 million, underscoring its exceptional value and allure.

However, there's another necklace that is even more expensive.

Valued at a staggering Rs 451 crore, this exquisite Mouawas L'Incomparable necklace is studded with 91 diamonds, The Times Of India reported.

It was gifted by Nita Ambani to bahu Shloka Mehta.
